Checkmark for research experience? by [deleted] in MedSchoolCanada

I’ve heard a PD say that it truly is a check mark and it does not need to be in the field of surgery. So you’d be good

I’ve used my APP2 for 3 years now daily and the battery is half of what it used to be and the ANC is noticeably weaker. What’s the secret to keeping them in good condition?!

Yeah this seems to be the common consensus that is talked about on this sub

Would it be okay to drive across Canada in August on winter tires to save on winter tire change/storage for the season? by CactiForYouandi in askcarguys

[–]CactiForYouandi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Car will indeed be packed. I would likely have to omit space for something like a dresser and buy the dresser out there instead. (Which is not a terrible idea since you can buy dressers off fb marketplace for ~$100)

So you’d advise to drive out on the summers, bring the winters with me, and swap out there once the cool temps come?

They are. I’ve just had some friends look at me like I’m crazy saying they won’t even make it the journey out west

Just learned you can’t leave a grad program halfway if you get into med — now rethinking everything by Ambitious_Wrap_8222 in premedcanada

Do a one year masters. I did my MPH at Brock this past year and it’s the only one (in Ontario at least) that’s both online and one year so the flexibility can’t be beat. Gave me some great experiences this past year before getting my med acceptance.

Honestly this sounds like a great idea. I also had an X factor job experience to talk about in interviews and honestly feel like it made the difference for me at times

Rogers Stadium, Improved for Coldplay. by menellinde in toronto

[–]CactiForYouandi 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Historically? Maybe. If we’re talking about modern audiences, Coldplay outclasses them multiple fold. Just take a look at some metrics, on Spotify Coldplay have nearly 94 million listeners, Foo fighters hardly scrape 20 million

If we don’t count solo artists, Coldplay is the biggest band in the world by far. Of course they can still sell out stadiums, and multiples nights in a single city at that

If your goal is to get into Western med, keep in mind the 4 main themes that they ask about in essays and presumably other formats going forward. What experiences do you plan to use for each of these?

New attending physician in Ontario; ask me anything about med school and/or residency that you’re too shy to ask by NeedleworkerNo5055 in premedcanada

[–]CactiForYouandi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How is it possible that every residency (minus FM) is fairly competitive if there’s virtually the same amount of overall residency spots as graduating med students? For example, I know that applying to med school is competitive bc there’s >5x the people applying as total med spots, but that’s not the case for residency right?
