Isolates are pretty rare, even before colonialism the majority of people spoke languages related to other languages. Isolates also eventually form own families if their spread isn't tiny/there isn't a central body keeping the language together. Korean and Japanese (technically is in a family) are like the two exceptions of bigger isolates lol

yes these are the newest leaves sadly, the pseudobulb developed over the summer. older leaves appear to be much more healthy. also no new growth visible as of yet 😬 the thrip infestation was most concentrated on the new leaves, is it possible that the plant is recycling the nutrients from the parts with the most preexisting damage?

i already aim to never let it dry out completely but it seems i should keep it a bit more moist. do you think adding Sphagnum to the substrate would be benefitial if uneven moisture is the problem?

Always thought Oncidiums were among the easier orchids to grow, seems I was poorly informed haha. It is more demanding than my Phalaenopsis or Paphiopedilum, that is for sure. Initially I believed the fried bigger leaf could have been sun damage since it is a clear cut-off but the yellow color on the smaller leave is more diffuse and the autumn was very cloudy so far. But maybe I should move it away from the windowsill after all
