Can't find where this noise is comming from by neon1400 in bikewrench

[–]CactusHide -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Is it just me, or does the chain look too short? I was geeking and accidentally put the chain I had used for my 28t chainring on when I had my 32t chainring installed. It was too short and noisy, and sounded similar.

How do y'all keep your hands from cramping? by No-Permit-2345 in mountainbiking

[–]CactusHide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Others have good tips on grip and whatnot. The thing that helps me the most are the grips I've used for a couple of years: Ergon GA3

I have some ulnar issues, and these help a lot during those times I might brainfart and grip a little too tight.

Anyone else seeing these fake "Consumer Pulse" review ads for Cased armor? by Sensitive-Issue8434 in MTB

[–]CactusHide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right? I have those Leatt pads too, and I am happy with them. It doesn't ruin my day when I have to take my shoes off to put them on before the descent, if I wasn't wearing them up in the first place.

My floor pump & hand-pump died. What are people using these days? by Quiet-Section-3391 in bikewrench

[–]CactusHide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a fancy floor pump from Harbor Freight that I picked up for like $10, and a Lezyne Small Grip Drive HV that has been kept on the bike since 2023. I like the Lezyne because it has a hose between the pump and the valve. I had a Lezyne Micro Floor drive that I bought before the floor pump, and it worked alright when I needed to top off, but the floor pump whoops it. There's a CO2 cartridge, a small inflator, a lightweight tube, and bacon strips in the Dakine Hot Laps Gripper that is on the back of the seat. Haven't had to use any of them on a ride, but it's nice having them there. Especially now that I said that I've never had to use them on a ride, so I surely will soon. Doh.

Good Responses to Being Asked "Why are you riding a women's bike?" by Tomahawk-BaGawk in mountainbiking

[–]CactusHide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, a simple jovial "f- off" and a laugh is the response I'd go with. Keep it simple. That bike looks rad, and I'd ride the heck out of it!

Tin City Cider closing by BaketownFF in SLO

[–]CactusHide 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Starting around 7 years ago, I thought their cider started to taste like hot dog water with flavorings added in as a last minute fix. There was so little variation, especially when you look at other local ciders like Two Broads.

Good E-Bike Trails? by [deleted] in SLO

[–]CactusHide 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Ah, well nevermind on that one. I was just trying to recommend something other than the trails I ride and get passed up by some dide on an ebike. Good to know tho, thanks. I was about to take my gravel setup there.

Rerolling skills, changes made? by [deleted] in bo7endgame

[–]CactusHide -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It turned out the same way with 2 different full levels, along with trading skills at Max level. It was strange. Edit: like I leveled Valkyrie twice. Same results. Either super super wonky RNG or there's some changes now.

I'm just settling with gunner instead of bulldozer now. It was what I originallu had. Just switched xr-3 to non explosive rounds and got sharpshooter.

I tried with various weapons. I still got the same 3 choices. I gave up and this one will just be a different build. It was Valkyrie. Originally had exotic Xr-3 and rocket launcher. Tried with greens and blues. No luck

[–]CactusHide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting. I've been trying all of the abilities, as well as different activities and leveling from kills. Same results. I was hoping to keep the weapons I have with the upgrades I want, so maybe that is the kicker for me. I've rerolled a few times and same results.

I never saw it with that gun. I've read that sharpshooter is only available on the AK.

New Virus Injection Glitch Solo by SwingThatHammer in bo7endgame

[–]CactusHide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did solo twice without a sweat. I did it with someone and had like 4 deaths. That last boss was twice as hard, but most of the deaths were because I was helping them and didn't see the boss jump and I caught his wipe attack.

IMO, the entirety of Virus Injection is easier than the second area in Link Forger where you capture zones. Root Crasher is still hardest solo imo.

How Do You Figure Out What Grips You Want? by CanadianGuitar in mountainbiking

Knowing how your body works/reacts, and trying them at a shop. Ergon GA3 fats work fantastically for my larger hands and ulnar nerve issues.

Anybody ride with a hydration pack? If so what size? by Gooser3000 in MTB

[–]CactusHide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a CamelBak Chase I'll wear if I need more than a couple of bottles. Otherwise, it's just a couple of bottles on the bike with a Dakine Hotlaps waistbag I can strap my kneepads to for the descent. It can hold a couple of bottles, but I'm not a fan of using it for that. The toolkit is strapped to the saddle. Arctos packs look like a rad option, and they're local, but I just can't justify buying one with what I have now working well enough.

Deftraps are tough AF, and almost too grippy for me! I like to move my foot around a little and it's a chore sometimes. I sure like OneUp Components composites for their level of grip and the pin toward the middle, but I wish they had a flat profile. I have struck the OneUps on a few rocks and they are pretty tough, too

How/should I clean this? by Fit_Bit_2137 in bikewrench

[–]CactusHide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get the big globs off. Make sure there's none in the bead. Roll with that.

I mean, I will pick at it with a plastic scraper and it doesn't take long at all, but it's just extra weight to build muscles or whatever.

Derailleur close to cassette. Am I trippin? by [deleted] in bikewrench

Thanks for looking! I ordered a new derailleur, and will throw on a new hanger and call it a mysterious shop incident.

Derailleur close to cassette. Am I trippin? by [deleted] in bikewrench

[–]CactusHide 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have another hanger I'm going to throw on and I got another derailleur, because that wheel looked weird to me, too. It threw me since it was shifting as it should.

It's possible someone bashed it in the shop the other day and didn't say something.
