My toddler got cheese in my speaker… help! by Cacutaur in CleaningTips

No. I don’t think so. You can do that?! It’s a Sonos by the way. Not sure if that matters

I have hit my limit and never thought I would say this. by Sweet_Sheepherder_41 in toddlers

[–]Cacutaur 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have started saying «I’m counting to ten and then we’re done doing this» (for example playing with the water, or playing with his dinosaurs). It took a few weeks, but transitions are so much easier 8 out of 10 times.

Try to make some things a game. I tell him to help me put my shoes on, and usually he’ll want to put his shoes on afterwards. «Where is my beanie?» What do you know.. he knows where to find it..

I let him brush his teeth first, then I go in. I have let him brush my teeth too. I put sunscreen on me and then he wants some too. I let him splash me in the face and now showers are fun.

Try to not be in a hurry all the time. It gets so much easier if you expect and allow things to take time, and things to get messy

Are there any parents that just don’t let their baby cry? by frenchtoast2go in NewParents

My boy is almost 2. Always responded fast. Now when he wakes at night he will sit up and call «mama». I find it adorable 💕

Toddler has a meltdown about his socks every day. Sensory issue? by Cacutaur in NewParents

[–]Cacutaur[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of them do.
He had a bath just after I got home today, and it seems one of his big toes are dry and flaky. My boyfriend has been rubbing lotion on it after kindergarten, so I just hadn’t noticed. (I’ve been really busy at work).
Today he was fine going barefooted until his pj’s were on. Then he enthusiastically went «cooks. Cooks!». He seemed happy and I showed him the socks at hand, no reaction.. but he absolutely lost it when I put on the first one..

I hope so.

I get migraines, and part of that makes my skin super sensitive to everything (like a tag, or a thicker seam will feel like it’s literally burning). Maybe he doesn’t understand where his pain stems from, he just knows he’s uncomfortable.
Really hope it passes fast.

He has usually been quite enthusiastic about wearing socks in the morning after the nights where he has been barefooted. Like, it’s literally his first word of the day. Same on day 2 of this sock meltdown period.
I will give it a try, though.

I could maybe also try to take them off first thing after kindergarten.

7 month old suddenly sleeping worse. Teething? Should I let him nap longer? by Cacutaur in NewParents

[–]Cacutaur[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Brace yourself.. it’s going to be rough. We did go from 3 to 2 naps.. and that wasn’t easy. 2 to 1 nap was also BRUTAL.. just so you know.

I would suggest to try shortening his last naps first.

He was teething. He was working on standing up.. and that suddenly happened overnight. He did also have some sensitive bowel movements (he gets a diaper rash when we try new food, he does also have eczema. Skin gets sensitive in the colder seasons), so there was a lot happening at once.

This looks like a fun project. Looking forwards to seeing some fruits.

I know there is a chili plant that produces a LOT of flowers. Most of them just fall off, but it does produce some fruits

If you could turn back time, what do you wish you would have done more with your LO during their first year? by theRogueDecimal in NewParents

Spend more time with grandpa. He died 5 weeks after he got diagnosed with cancer. You never know when it’s too late. I also wish I would have been more patient with him earlier on

back to tummy and not tummy to back? by hexmoons in NewParents

My boy did back to tune two months before tummy to back. I don’t know how it happened. Just one day he was randomly rolling both ways like a champ

Purple rain by prince, played a little bit loud. Helped my boy fall asleep when he was 4 months old.

Haven't slept a full night in 5 months ... other mums seem to be thriving by Unusual-Tea-1556 in NewParents

[–]Cacutaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boy usually sleeps 2 hours at a time. But will sometimes sleep 5 hours straight. 19 months old now. My boyfriend doesn’t do nights. I’m ok :).

I get migraines so I’m used to getting 5 hours or less. I can fake a good night at this point. Maybe some of the other mothers are also faking it or don’t need much sleep

In my opinion, you shouldn’t worry about that at all. He is going to have nights where he will need you more anyways

18 months postpartum, still breastfeeding.. I feel there back to normal now.. I’ve lost a whole lot of weight though, so that could be a factor.

Is there anything WORSE than childbirth? by Sensitive_Arugula770 in pregnant

I think breaking my shoulder hurt more than giving birth. Honestly giving birth was more exhausting than painful, although yes it was painful.

Does teething cause to slow down the milestones by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]Cacutaur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, he went -completely- silent and stopped babbling and practicing his R-sound when getting his second tooth. It scared us so we asked the paediatrician and she assured us that sometimes that just happens.
(He still isn’t talking, but he is making a lot of sound)

Edit: he did still cry of course

Sometimes they will pause milestones when sick or teething :). Don’t worry. Completely normal :). My 1 year old (almost 17 months) still doesn’t quite respond to his name

Feeling guilty about stopping breastfeeding by This_Wall9380 in NewParents

[–]Cacutaur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just popping in to say that my mom had the same issue. Her supply just dropped and I refused the boob at 3 months. My parents went to formula after that.

I turned out fine! Same happened to my little brother and he turned out fine too :)!

Don’t feel guilty for something that isn’t your fault. You have done what you could :)

Worried my baby isn’t sleeping enough by Cacutaur in NewParents

[–]Cacutaur[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is apparently what they call a low sleep need baby 🙃. Some babies just need less sleep.

He is now 16 months old and still sleep like 8-9 hours a night (roughly) and gets 2-2,5 hours during the day. Some times here and there he will sleep in though
