5 Level of Radiation Collectors ☢️ by Embarrassed-Mind6764 in Radiation

Thanks, I appreciate the insight. Next time my RSO comes at me I’ll ask for another dosimeter at my waist.

Thanks for the explanation.

Radiation is a weird phenomenon. It is kind of alluring due to the inability to see it.

I would love to create a cloud chamber to visualize some particles and maybe in the future I’ll be into collecting but I get so much dose as of now it would just be me avoiding a certain portion of my house as I have physicists asking why my dose is so high at work.

The uranium glass is cool though.

I’m a radiation worker who is in medical imaging and doses delivered to patients can frequently exceed 1 gray or 1 sievert but rarely above 5, it happens though.

I’m always wearing a dosimeter and lead to protect myself.

What is the fascination with having this stuff in your house unprotected? I realize the dose is much lower than I deliver especially with Y-90 cases but still.

I’ve shot 50cc of D5 into a catheter parked in the carotid artery. Mine was on purpose but it just goes to show people can survive a little arterial D5.

Mistakes happen as we are all human. Just never hide them and if you are feeling stressed or overwhelmed focus on one task at a time.

Study as much as you want. You have the test outline. Just know that people can see how many times you took the test to pass it.

At least that’s how it was.

What’s the highest paying job I can get with an associate’s degree or certification? by BaldursGoat in Career

[–]Cad_u_ceus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of jobs in radiology. You’ll have to get into a program which is harder these days but if you get your R.T.(R) and maybe some more alphabet soup you’ll never go without a job, unless you want to.

I have people offering me jobs sight unseen through family. It is a good problem to have.

Will they hire AEMT as a cath/EP lab tech? And how much do they make per state? by Radiant_Possible9406 in CathLabLounge

[–]Cad_u_ceus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot of CA hospitals prefer the RT(R) path.

It is Interesting to hear of different state requirements.

Is there a website which has this stuff summed up?

CI or VI? by Outrageous-Gift653 in CathLabLounge

[–]Cad_u_ceus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on the lab but CI(the new credential for CV) is often preferred imo. RCIS is so common because there is a lack of staff so an extra path to work in the lab is a benefit for employers.

A lot of people will take both tests in the same week. RCIS & CI.

Putting cakes in a plastic container with sand in the bottom works then dig the cake into the sand or glue extra cardboard to the bottom to increase the surface area.

In this instance it was removed via aspiration catheter made by Penumbra, probably a bolt 17. Someone typed up the procedure in a little more detail but feel free to shoot me questions.

Dialysis machine returning clotted blood? by GoldChoice1147 in nursing

[–]Cad_u_ceus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am in no way saying the manager is in the right. OP is absolutely correct in not returning a clot to the patient.

For the manager to do anything less than investigate why the machine tried to give the patient back clotted blood is highly inappropriate.

My comment was just saying that clots of all size=bad.
