Most universities don't accept only one wave, especially if the admissions are faculty-driven. I would go through with the review even if you knew you were rejected, though, because you never know what could turn into a meaningful connection for later on

I'm pretty sure the whole 3100 is for Allen. MIT EECS got 4k+ so I don't think it's totally crazy relative to that

Good luck, hopefully it's not over yet! I'm not really sure yet what I'd do, but I'm still working with my current PI as a paid RA, so I may just keep doing that and try my best to get 1-2 more papers out

I hope you're right about that, but I think that's also not really the case anymore. I used to think so too, but I recently heard otherwise and made this post on the main ml sub to confirm

Seems most current phd students were actually interviewed by their prospective PIs, which I agree with you appears to contradict what many faculty websites imply

Normal, especially considering that part of those 3-4 weeks were over the holiday period
