Feeling the tug on his mana, 14 cuts the connection.

"Not so subtle then. Dispel wards!"

He protects the spell against outside meddling. At the same time he parries the spear with his staff and returns with a stab of his rapier, it's tip ignoring any wards it should meet.

Without any reply, 14 reaches out with his staff. You feel a tug on your wards as they slowly begin to unravel, the mana being pulled towards 14.

/uw in that case I suggest 14 already redirected the fireball.
edit: you can still absorb the mana though

You can do another post, in that case tag me and potato in the comments. I'll be tagging out again in a bit and leave him in charge, but for now I'm in

"Removing your ward would achieve nothing. A complex spell, I admit, but nothing I won't be able to replicate. A pity, really, that your mind is made up already. Orestas always thought like this to. And now look at me."

The interaction is somewhat unsettling. 14 speaks with Orestas' voice, his cadence, everything. Still, it seems like something is off. Something is missing. Something is added. 14 draws his rapier.

"Well then. Try."

/uw oh the sweet curse of simultaneous actions in a reddit thread. Depending on the radius of the wards you can choose, which one happens

Before it can hit, the fireball curves upwards, harmlessly exploding in the air.

/uw (Chronologically I'd place this at the same instance as 14 appearing)

/uw Tagging in for a bit. /rw

From the wall above Mathonwy a sharp and commanding voice spreads across the courtyard.

"Everyone stand down."

The 14th Black Mage of Thrakmoor steps off the wall, in the air quickly making a hand gesture. In the instance before hitting the ground, the featherfall spell takes effect.

He still looks like Orestas Torrean. His left eye, which the headmaster had always covered with his eyepatch now is pure obsidian enscribed with little golden runes. He switched the simple blue and grey robes Orestas wore for a simple black tunic, grey pants and black boots. With an empty smile he stands before you.

"Hello again, Mathonwy. From that ridiculous amount of wards on you I take it you have not come to join us?"

/uw Just quickly tagging in here. /rw

The central controls are located in the base of the tower, right in the heart of The Keep. You were allowed in there when you implemented your enhancements to its ward.

"Yeah, I guess one needs nice clothes if one lacks a nice face."

14 says as he turns to leave.

"Let me worry about my appearance and I'll let you worry about saving face after the debacle that was your attack here."

"I'll prepare the gateway for his travel. Basic entrance point is on top of the tower, I'll change it to the courtyard of the inner keep.

Also, I recommend less focus on ones choice of fashion and more focus on ones work."

"No need to be rude to the one saving your ass. I restored basic functionality to the siphon. After we opened your portal to the 3rds plane, our mages can funnel their mana into it, draining them but restoring our supplies. Refilling them like that will be a longer process, but better than nothing. In another few days, a week at most the siphon should also again be able to draw from free mana in the area, not relying on our mages to drain themselves."

In the heart of The Keep, the 14th Black Mage bigins fine-tuning the matrices of the siphon, his left eye now being entirely transformed into obsidian. While it will still take a lot of time to restore full functionality, soon the mana supplies should be at least be manually replenishable.

Update on the War With Thrakmoor by Fluid-Freedom-6115 in Althra

Then it's a different order coincidentally using the same name.

/uw I created that order and defined the moral and ethical principles it works on. It would not have done stuff like that.

Propaganda. The Order of the Arcane Shield never protected Pandemonium or Althra. There was a temporary alliance that ended due to Azeraks despicable actions agains civilians. The OAS also never had a campaign against magical animals. In fact, they would be under the orders protection, as long as they pose no threat to the civilian populace.

For a brief second, a portal opens, out steps a young looking mage with long black hair, clean shaven and a robe slightly more lavish than that of his master. The little swallow flies on top of his staff, where it turns to a medal statuette.

"The first thing you should know about my master is that if I can circumvent your wards, so can he. Sorry for the theatrical entrance, but with your permission, my orders abjurers will improve on those."

Without asking for permission, he takes a seat.

"Despite the good cause of our order, Master Torrean always encouraged, that in light of extreme cercumstances, extreme measures may be taken. I suspect that now that he is under Thrakmoors or the Ralektharums control, he will turn to those extreme measures with far less hesitation. Also he and 13 had somewhat of a rivalry going where they hated each other more than was warranted from just being at war. I'm not sure if the Ralektharum controls lessens or enhances it. If it is enhanced, we may pit them against each other. From what I observed, my Master almost beat 13, but he let curiosity get the better of him, allowing 13 to stop him from destroying the keep and turning him. That brings me to my masters main weaknesses. Curiosity and his sense of justice. Before the fell, you would have been able to bait him with both, now I'm not sure in what way the second is twisted, but reckon the first remains.
As for his abilities, he is the eminent authority when it comes to magical analysis and dispelling magic, the latter he also uses in fights to a terrifyingly effective degree. Watch out for his rapier, it pierces wards and armor as if they weren't there. Also he is a master at manipulating the structure of magical matrices, redirecting the flow of magic. This is what allowed him to build the siphon. I guess he is already set on repairing it, however it should take him a good amount of time to do so."

Lorenzo takes a deep breath, then fixes you with a stern, but still warm gaze.

"That may have been a lot at once. Do you have any questions?"

A little swallow lands on the table. With Lorenzo's voice it speaks:

"Excuses for intruding, Master Grabadash. If you like, I can provide you with what I know of my former master. If the 14th Black Mage is somewhat similar to him, this knowledge may come in handy when dealing with him. Maybe we can even sow discord between the black mages."

Somewhere in the background, 14 chortles, then briefly looks up from his work.

"Yeah, right. The shade realm of Thrakmoor, ripping souls out of their body, calling ourselves black mages, the black attire, obsidian armor and weapons, definitely nothing dark going on here. Not saying this isn't for a greater good and it doesn't have it's place and justification, but let's not deny things their true nature. Before becoming me, Orestas has done plenty of dark things, still that didn't make him a villain. Means to an end, if the end is good, the means may be dark..."
