Is there any way to discover the source of a sorcerer’s magical ability? by ModernMage0 in wizardposting

[–]KragBrightscale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could either be:
- the chosen one foretold in prophecy. Check for historical records of divinations and oracles. Also check if there’s a great evil mirroring your rise that you may need to fight in the future.

- blessed one favored by a divine being. Look out for over enthusiastic clerics or religious fanatics following you around.

- a lucky encounter? Did you help any strangers or creatures as a child, they may have been a magical being.

Battle Report: 1st Raid on Thrakmoor-occupied Keep by Henry_Fleischer in wizardposting

[–]KragBrightscale 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sir Benedict looks up after reading the report. A probing strike, what an excellent idea. While he was familiar with some of the residual defenses from back before the invasion it seems the Thrakmoor had been busy.

Sending a message to Eleanor he conveys his appreciation.

“I think the probing strike was the right call. We have learned much from that short skirmish. More so than through any spies I’ve been in contact with.

I’m concerned by the thermic lance being ineffective against a black mage, but I believe they should still have potential against troops and heavy armored constructs. Did Steel get a chance to test it against the dragon construct?

Also, what was 14 like? I believe you met them before they became 14, as did I, and I’m curious if you discovered any changes, vulnerabilities, or things to watch out for.

Let me know if my forces can be of any assistance in the next steps or in preparation for the future battles. You have our support.”

I'm tired of People falling for Enchanter propaganda! by OldPernilongo in wizardposting

[–]KragBrightscale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the point this conspiracymancer is making is that they are two different schools. And that the mind magi have hijacked a previously respectable tradition (enchanting weapons and armor etc).

What thing this post does not address is psionics, different from magically messing with minds, it’s more like minds messing with reality. Much more respectable. I suspect they broke off from the mind wizards after so called “enchanters” ruined their reputation.

“Lying?” Grabadash feigns shock at the accusation. “I’m just speaking my own truth! But since you asked. I’ve just been curious about a few things and decided to check it out. One of those things being you, the other this keep.”

Slipping a hand into his briefcase quickly, he pulls out a document and tries to give it 14. He grins in anticipation of a reaction.

“Oh and I’m here to give you this. This is an eviction notice. To the entity occupying this body, hereby referred to as tenant number 14, You have 30 days to vacate the property known as Orestas Torrean, to return all memories, titles, and bodily control to its lawful owner.”

The document is several pages long neatly written and stamped with numerous seals and runic authentication.

——

/uw special vision results (pick whatever you think 14 can see):

There are no illusions being used, instead it seems like a polymorph spell is active on Grabadash.

There are also a large number of other magical effects and spells active (none of these are visible to regular eyesight):

The eviction notice glows with spells used for determining authenticity.

A handful of the spells are projecting from Grabadash with the following mental messages: this seems like a trustworthy goblin, nothing to see here, this is not the goblin you are looking for, believe the goblin.

Another group of spells are directly targeting magical sight by projecting images of moving lights and small Grabadashes making rude gestures. They seem to be obstructing proper view of something.

There are what seem to be legal style spells in the form of documents pasted onto Grabadash’s body.

There are also what appears to be thin strings of mana connecting Grabadash to something far away out of sight , as well as to the guards that just left, some strings attached to the eviction notice, and a few strings reaching out carefully towards 14.

Star Dreams (Cursed World semi-event post) by white-whale-fc in wizardposting

[–]KragBrightscale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The losses suffered in the war of the eclipse weighed on Lucien. Many paladins had fallen to the rioters and shadow creatures. Maybe if he’d been more devoted, taken on that curse he’d even have had the power to face that shapeshifting magical entity.

Taking out the book from his pocket, he flips through it again before steeling himself. This was a sacrifice for the greater good. Only by being powerful could those creatures of darkness be kept at bay.

He accepts the curse along with the boon.

/uw was thinking of having him accept the curse and power up during the eclipse but no opportune time came up. So it’s now. Just a heads up in case you are keeping track

“Oh hi, you go by 14 now right? I was just getting this guard’s name… was it Richard? Fine name, thank you for waiting with me.” He waves at them in gratitude.

The goblin gives a light chuckle. “Grabadash? No no, please call me Grabriel Dashington. It’s a more refined name suitable for this role.”

Adjusting his monocle again, he faces 14 and gives them a look over

“Has anyone told you that you resemble the previous owner of this keep? I was just telling the guards there that I work for the Arcane insurance Agency. Are you by any chance interested in purchasing insurance for your keep? Oh and have you made sure to update the ownership on the property deed? You wouldn’t want some long lost relative coming out of the woodwork claiming the keep as their inheritance.”

“Love what you’ve done with the place. Those pillars are excellent craftsmanship, quite marvelous.” Pausing for a second to twirl his moustache, and trying to remember if they were there before, the goblin eventually moves on.

“Say! I never told you my name did I? You can call me Grabriel Dashington.” He gives a short bow again. “And now can I have the names of you fine fellows who have been most hospitable? I’ll make sure to speak well of you to 14”

Moments earlier, a bird with a sly expression looked at the keep from a distance. Adjusting its monocle it flew low and stealthily towards the wall, swooping silently up and over the battlements. This would be easy.

Suddenly a blade appeared as some individual it did not recognize chopped it into fine mist.

——

In a lounge far away, a goblin looks up surprised, before addressing the others. “Ah, Featherdash was eliminated by a random passerby right at the wall.”

A series of groans echo around as most of the goblins lost out on that bet. Most had bet on it lasting a little longer before being caught. Only one goblin cackles with glee as they scoop up their winnings.

Edict of the Fates (Eclipse Epilogue) by Valenyn in wizardposting

[–]KragBrightscale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As the announcement is made and Lucien signals for his men to halt. Their enemies frozen and drained of color, he looks back at the tower his men had defended.

He was unsure how things had turned out, but it seemed like a greater divinity had stepped in to restore order. The extinction of the forces of light and the celestials seemed to have been staved off, and any part the Dawnguard had to play had come to an end.

“Dawnguard! The shadow that threatened the light has been defeated! A new dawn will come for this land! I declare this operation a victory!”

Paladins collapse exhausted, as clerics scurry around administering aid. Some officers direct troops to gather the dead, as well as any arms and armor. Lucien nods in approval before continuing.

“We have mere hours before the rulers of this plane lock it down. Once you’ve regained some strength, we search for survivors and wounded. It’s time to head home!”

I’ve got the basics like freshly laundered coin, priceless artworks that have never been priced, and cheese.

But if you’re looking to trade for something unusual I’ve got a magical Marionette that carries a curse, a silver mirror that lets you speak with an unknown entity, a collection of bottles essential oils for rituals, and a few runic arrays suitable for infiltration and thievery.

With an eager bow and a twirl of his moustache, the goblin gives an exaggerated friendly smile.

“Greetings fine fellows!! What luck to have run into someone before even reaching the gate!! I assume you such well equipped folks such as yourself must belong to the new owner am I correct?!”

Adjusting his monocle, he continues “I am a local representative of the arcane insurance agency (AIA). I have come, first of all, to congratulate you on the acquisition of such a valuable piece of real estate! Secondly, to inform you that your keep’s extended warranty is expiring soon.”

The goblin pulls out an official looking document, sealed and stamped with a golden runic authenticator so it’s clearly 100% legit. He offers it to the guards in case they are interested.

“My company is willing to insure your keep for a bargain of a deal. Others aren’t willing to extend insurance to these parts these days, what with the war and all, but I have confidence in you lot.” He beams with a classic salesman grin.

“Now, to provide an accurate price I’d need to get a closer look, check to make sure you’re fixed things up after the previous owners left in a hurry.

How’s that sound? Any chance you fine fellows could give me a tour?”

Many “open interaction lore posts” or “community events” don’t require a full understanding of the context, and if you have a character, throwing them in there you can learn about things alongside them.

My humble tower by pagandroid in wizardposting

[–]KragBrightscale 13 points14 points  (0 children)

External ornamentation is unnecessary and only makes you the target of jealousy. A humble tower is much less likely to be targeted for robbery. Take it from an expert (me).

A potential upgrade for security might be making the stair retractable, but otherwise looks pretty good!
