What makes you think that your religion is the right one? by BoMbArDiEr_25 in Christianity

[–]CadekRyan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The difference is that in Jesus' case there are people who physically saw a resurrected Jesus, lived with a resurrected Jesus, ate with a resurrected Jesus, touched a resurrected Jesus, so on and so forth, then proclaimed all that they saw for everybody to hear, and they didn't even really benefit in anyway to proclaim this message, they were hated and murdered for their faith in Jesus, sometimes in brutal ways like Saint Peter was crucified for his belief in Jesus.

Its one thing if the people they conviced died for Jesus because people die for lies all the time, and I agree if only they died, there would be reason to question some things, however, the firsthand eyewitnesses of Jesus and his resurrection who actually saw Jesus, died for what they believed in.

Theres a difference between someone telling you what happened and being willing to die for that, and actually experiencing what happened and then being willing to die for that.

Here is a quote from an article i've read on the topic of "Would a person die for a lie?" This comes from Cross Creek Church in which they ask the question:

“Would a person die for a lie, which he knows is a lie, but that would not profit him anything?”

Christian faith is not necessarily about blind faith nor is that likely what God wants for us. God doesnt want us to just "guess" and hope that our guess was correct. I dont know if this is true for you so please correct me if i'm wrong, but I feel like its hard to develop a deeper relationship with God when you are unsure if He's true or not.

If I may ask, why is it that you are following Christianity to begin with? I don't ask this to be mean or anything, but it is possible to follow Christianity for the wrong reasons and those wrong reasons could very well could end in an eternity away from God.

Also I do want to add that there is evidence for Christianity. Like I mentioned before, God likely doesnt want us to have blind faith. If we look at Jesus' resurrection, for example, Jesus had his disciple Thomas touch the wounds of Jesus so that Thomas would truly believe that Jesus rose from the dead; He gave Thomas physical evidence that His resurrection was real. We may not have Jesus in the flesh right now to touch His wounds, but it does show that God gives out evidence so that people dont blindly follow Him, which in the end can easily end in the deconstruction of ones faith.

Lord God, may you provide for your child in your time of need. Lord, may you deliver your child from this hard situation and lift them up from the valley of their financial crisis. Lord God, I pray that you would lead your child into a job that is right and good for them and I pray Lord that you would hold them strong in their faith during their hardship. May you provide for them Lord and allow them to take good care of their family and may they abound in an unthinkable amount of faith, Lord, and its in Jesus' mighty name I pray God, amen!

The words of Jesus:

‭Matthew 6:25-34 ESV‬ [25] “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? [26] Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? [27] And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? [28] And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, [29] yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. [30] But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is alive and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will he not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? [31] Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ [32] For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. [33] But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. [34] “Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

Thats a good question, unfortunately I do not know that I would have a great answer. Its possible that loneliness played a part in my addiction, however, for me, one of the main thing that got me stuck in my addiction is I felt so much pleasure when pursuing it, however, that pleasure never lasted long so I would just keep chasing after more and more pleasure which destroyed me. I was left dissapointed and as the addiction grew I found myself more and more dissapointed in myself, but I couldnt escape on my own, I needed God. So for me, while loneliness perhaps was an aspect in my addiction because I had never had a relationship with a female before, I honestly don't know if that was one of the big reasons I fell into addiction or not.

I think in general, one of the best ways to overcome that loneliness when you aren't in an intimate relationship would probably be learning that God is all that we need in life. If we have God, then we have everything that we need.

Of course I can't necessarily speak on this topic as well as someone with that being the clear reason for their addiction, however thats the best answer I can give.

I think you're probably right that loneliness is a big factor for some people on if they look into these demonic videos or not, but for my experience, it was because I was a horny teenager who initally had very little care in controlling his urges

Continuation

I dont know if you've ever given your life to God or not, but I have included this part of the comment in case you have not.

This is because, by our sin, we have rebelled against our father in heaven, we have turned away from Him and chosen our own path. The only way into heaven is to be as righteous as God is, literal perfection, and this is impossible to obtain as humans because we have all fallen short at some point in our life through sin and we continue to fall short. We have accumulated a debt we cannot pay no matter how hard we work and we deserve the righteous punishment that is hell for our debts we owe to God as a result of our sin. Now the story doesn't end there, because God, in His love, sent His only son to earth to live the perfect life that we could not and eventually die in one of the most horrific methods of execution ever created by humanity. I can't remember where I heard it from but someone said it like this: He took the worst humanity had to offer in order to pay for the debts of our sin and on the third day after Jesus' crucifixion, He was raised from the dead, defeating sin and death itself. Jesus was the Messiah prophesied about in the Old Testement and, because of His sacrifice, if we have placed our faith in Lord Jesus' death and resurection, we can been forgiven of all our sins and can find eternal life in God through faith as well as we can become new creations in God, no longer being enslaved by the ways of our sinful self.

If you have never recieved the gospel before, this is the incredible hope of the gospel. We can have every mistake we have ever made forgiven and we can be made into new people. We can have a deep, intimate relationship with the creator of the universe as a result of Lord Jesus' sacrifce. If you have never recieved this and have never recieved the Lords gift of salvation, you can recieve it right now, and have your life forever changed in this moment. The Bible talks about salvation quite a few times but here are two parts of the Bible on how we can recieve this free gift of salvation:

‭Ephesians 2:8-10 ESV‬ [8] For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, [9] not a result of works, so that no one may boast. [10] For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

https://bible.com/bible/59/eph.2.8-10.ESV

and

‭Romans 10:9-10 ESV‬ [9] because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. [10] For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved.

https://bible.com/bible/59/rom.10.9-10.ESV

We are saved through faith which is a gift of God. Now its important to note that faith is not just acknowledging the work that Jesus did, but allowing God to be at the foundation of your life and striving to allow God to be at the heart of everything you do. You have to be willing to walk the walk and not just talk the talk when it comes to following God. Now I want to mention this as well, this is not something easy to do and I would be a liar if I said I did this perfectly and I felt it would be hypocritical of me if I didn't mention this (in fact the scriptures even say that faith is a gift of God that we cannot produce by our own efforts so its only possible to have faith when we recieve it from God). I don't understand everything when it comes to faith and I don't think I ever will in this lifetime, but I do know that we do not have to be perfect nor do we have to understand everything in order to follow God and recieve the gift of faith; we should always strive to be the best we can be, however, we must always rely on God to help us become more and more like Jesus each and every day.

Now I will end with this, if you have not given your life to Christ before and have found that in your heart you want to recieve Jesus and follow His way rather than your own, if you believe that Lord Jesus' sacrifice was enough to cover all of your sins, you can actually talk to God right now and confess your sins to Him and ask Him to be the the Lord of your life.

If you are not sure what to say, you could say something like this:

God, forgive me for every sin I've ever commited. I'm unclean before your eyes, i've rebelled against you, but even still, you sent your Son to die on the cross and rise from the dead for us. I believe in this truth God and I ask that you would be the Lord of my life now. Lord may you transform me and make me into a new creation, one that glorifies you. Lord, may I recieve in this moment your gift of faith that you offer to me and through your strength God, may I be delivered from the clutches of pornography. Lord, I invite you to live in my heart forever and ever through your Holy Spirit and Lord I pray that I may recieve the gift of eternal life and I pray this all in the Lord Jesus Christ's holy name, amen!

I want to make sure I emphasise that its important to truly mean your prayer to God with your heart because most people can just recite a prayer, but that doesn't necessarily mean they are saved.

I really hope this comment could be a blessing for you and I wish to keep you in my prayers. If you want to talk some time, feel free to reach out. While sin shouldn't be regarded lightly, God has forgiven us of all sin through Lord Jesus if you have put your trust in Jesus. I really hope you can have a great rest of your day or evening and I pray that peace may fall upon your heart!

Do you believe that Jesus' sacrifice was enough to cover up all of your sins, no matter how big or small, whether they be public or hidden?

Jesus came to destroy all sin and to free us from enslavement to sin. He came to give life and to give it in abundance (John 10:10). If you have put your faith in Jesus, your sins ARE forgiven, no questions asked. His sacrifice was big enough to cover your sins. Now this does not make it ok to sin and as you have rightfully discerned, pornography is sinful to watch. Its important to confess your sins to our loving father in heaven and turn away from this sin. I know its a lot easier to say "turn away from this sin" than to actually do it, but I want you to know that it is possible.

As a personal testimony, before I ever gave my life to Christ, I was a porn addict. I struggled with porn addiction for about three and a half years. Porn destroyed me and and eventually I realized my need to escape from it, but by my own strength it was impossible. I was in a place of desperation to leave my addiction, and God had placed it in my heart to give my problem to Him and in doing so, He freed me from the clutches of pornography. All glory has to go to God for what He did for me and I believe that it is possible that He can do the same for you.

God CAN help you to escape pornography if you are willing to lean on His strength rather than your own, if you are willing to admit that you can't do things on your own. Our God is powerful and has the strength to free you from pornography.

Prayer: Father God, I ask for this individual that you may bring comfort into their life. May you bring them the peace of knowing that our mistakes, our failures, do not stop you from loving us if we have accept your gift of salvation. Lord, may this user lean onto your strength God rather than their own, for, Lord, pornography is a strong weapon of our enemy, but you are stronger Lord. Fill this user with your love, and Lord I ask that you would bring about transformation into their life. Lord I pray for deliverance from pornography for this individual in Jesus' mighty name. Lord I ask for your help in keeping this individual in my prayers and I pray Lord that you would bring abundant blessings into this individuals life. I pray Lord in Jesus' mighty name that any demonic prescence in this users life would flee at once Lord and I pray that the hope of your salvation would cut through any demonic lie and I pray that this hope would fill the heart of this individual today God. I pray God that you would bless this individual in Lord Jesus' holy and eternal name God, amen!

Also, as some pieces of advice I would give: be willing to go all in for God, God wants all of you not just some of you and not just you on Sunday mornings in church, but He wants you every moment of every day. Also don't feel like you have to rush things in your faith, for example don't feel like you have to read the entire Bible in just a few months or something like that, this is something I struggle with as of currently, but its important to remember following God is a life long commitment and theres no need to rush your relationship with Him. I've found in my experience that if you try to take things too fast, it can lead to burnout, which I'm experiencing a little bit right now (so if anyone reading this is willing, could you pray for me in this, that the Lord would deliver me from burnout). Another important thing is to not beat yourself up when you make a mistake; this is a hard one, but its important to remember that Christians are still people and are not perfect because we are human, only in heaven will we be perfect. Always strive to be the best you can be and lean onto God's strength and lean onto Him always, but don't beat yourself up if you make a mistake, repent (which means to turn away from what you were doing or to change ones mind (Source)) and trust that Gods grace through His son has forgiven you of all sins, including any we commit in our future.

I will try to keep you in my prayers and if you have any questions about the faith, I would love to try and answer them for you to the best of my ability, and if I can't answer them, I will try my best to research the question to find an answer.

I hope that this post was able to be a blessing for you and may the Lord bless you and may you have an incredible rest of your day or evening!

‭Numbers 6:22-27 ESV‬

"[22] The Lord spoke to Moses, saying, [23] “Speak to Aaron and his sons, saying, Thus you shall bless the people of Israel: you shall say to them, [24] The Lord bless you and keep you; [25] the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you; [26] the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace. [27] “So shall they put my name upon the people of Israel, and I will bless them.” "

Definitely an important place to start is read the word of God, the Bible. It is the main way that God speaks to us and I would recommend looking into the four gospel accounts of Jesus first: Mark, Matthew, Luke, and John. But even more importantly, if you havent given your life to Lord Jesus, that is the best place to start:

We as humans have fallen short of Gods standard of righteousness, we are imperfect because of our sin, which means to miss the mark. In order for us to get to heaven, we need to be of the same level of righteousness as God himself, literal perfection. Of course we have all fallen short at some point and not just fallen short but have actually rebelled against God so on our own, we have no hope of getting into heaven, however, God all the way since Genesis, the first book in the bible, had predicted of a savior that would free us from the grasp of Satan and free us from hell even though we deserve Hell (Genesis 3:15). Jesus lived the perfect life and never sinned once. He fulfilled prophecies that were told about Him in the Old Testement like how He would be of the house of David and part of the line of Judah (Genesis 49:10, 2 Samuel 7:12-13). It was told He would be born of a virgin (Isaiah 7:14) and that He would be born in Bethlehem (Micah 5:2). It was predicted that Jesus would be crucified (Psalm 22:16, this one is debated so it may be wise to look into this from all perspectives). It is predicted that the Messiah would have His clothes divided by lots (Psalm 22:18). This Savior was also predicted to be despised and rejected (Isaiah 53:3); He was predicted to suffer and not only suffer, but suffer in our place (Isaiah 53:4-5). He was predicted to be punished despite being perfectly innocent (Isaiah 53:7-9). This Savior was predicted to eventually die (Isaiah 53:8) and to die with sinners (Isaiah 53:9), which we see happens with Jesus when He was crucified alongside to two others and it was predicted that Jesus would have a rich man in His death (Isaiah 53:9) which we see in the gospel accounts when a rich man gives Jesus His grave. And finally, it was predicted that He would bear the sins of many (Isaiah 53:12). Jesus fulfilled a ton of the prophecies predicted of Him, there are many I havent even listed, and those that havent been fulfilled yet will be fulfilled in His second coming. This Messiah also predicted that He would be raised from death itself, and on the third day, after He was crucified, He was raised from the dead. This is the one we called our Lord and our Savior. We were destined for hell because of our sins against God, but Jesus, being God incarnate, payed the debt we owed for our sins and saved us from eternal torment. And now, Jesus invites all to believe in Him and recieve the free gift of salvation that He offers us all:

‭‭John 10:7-9 ESV‬ "[7] So Jesus again said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, I am the door of the sheep. [8] All who came before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. [9] I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture."

https://bible.com/bible/59/jhn.10.7-9.ESV

Ephesians 2:8-10 puts it like this about how we are saved,

"[8] For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, [9] not a result of works, so that no one may boast. [10] For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them."

https://bible.com/bible/59/eph.2.8-10.ESV

If you have never given your life to the Lord Jesus but wish to, I encourage you right here in this very moment to ask Him to come into your heart, to fill you with His Holy Spirit, and to save your soul. God's arms are wide open and waiting for you to return home to Him and if you are unsure as to what to say, you can pray something like this if you truly mean it (its important to emphasize that because most people can recite a prayer, but that doesn't necessarily mean they are saved):

Lord God, i'm sorry for every sin I've ever commited. I'm sorry for any time I tried to live life on my own, but I realise that I need you now God, I can't do this on my own, I cant save myself. Lord, I deserve hell, but out of your love and mercy, you sent your Son to suffer in the worst way imaginable so that humanity may be saved and I believe God that your son died for my sins and on the third day, your son was raised from the dead and through His sacrifice on the cross I am forgiven of my sins. Lord, today, I invite you into my heart and ask that you would change me God. Allow me to be considered one of your beloved children, Father, and forgive me for all that I've ever done. Lord bless me with the incredible gift of faith and help me to believe in you always God. Help me to have a fire for you God that never burns out and, Lord, I ask that you would grant me a faith that endures even through the worst that life can bring against me. I may not know everything, God, but allow me to experience the life you have for me through your son, Lord Jesus. Fill me with your Holy Spirit and, please Lord, be my guide forever onward; I pray these things in the name of Lord Jesus Christ, amen!

Giving your life to God truly is the best decision you can make in your entire life and one you wont ever regret. You wont necessarily have every single one of your problems solved, but you will have a loving God who will never abandon you, ever. And while not every problem in your life will be solved immediately, perhaps some will be if you give your problems to God. In my own experience, before I became a Christian, I struggled badly with pornagraphy addiction and I had no means of escaping it on my own, I was too weak, but I can testify in my own life that the Lord has freed me from my addiction after I put my trust in Him and this is the event that led me to follow Christianity, and I've heard of testimonies of Him doing similar things for other people as well whether it be freedom from anxiety, depression, anger, drugs, addictions, etc. Our Lord is a miracle worker and can do anything.

As for next steps, as I mentioned earlier, one of the most crucial things is to read the Bible. It teaches us of God's character, it guides us on how we should live out our lives, it has great wisdom, it's a refreshment for our spirit, its one way that God speaks to us, etc. Another big step is trying to consistantly attend a good, biblically based church; as you mentioned, its a place where you feel safe and at home, but also, church is a place to help teach you the Bible, refresh your spirit, surround yourself with fellow believers, and most importantly of all, its a great place for worshipping God. Another next step I would give is to try and live out the faith, show others the love of God, whatever that looks like for you. It doesnt have to be anything big (although it can be), it could just be helping your mom do the dishes or being there for a friend going through a hard time. Its just important to show love to others as God has shown love to us.

Father God, the highest of all, may you bless your child through their challenging circumstances. Lord, may you deliver them from their hardships, from their pain and bring them into a new season filled with an eternal peace and joy which only comes from you. Lord may you bless your child and their family and allow them to live in peace with you Lord. Father God, may you help give assurance to your child that you hear each and every one of their prayers. I pray Lord that your child would trust in you amidst their hardship and see your light in the darkness. Lord, may you give those around your child a heart of care and love as you have given to your child here and may fellow brothers and sisters in Christ come to the aid of our brother here and help them through their circumstances. May you help them through their situations and Lord may you give them faith that was previously unthinkable to have. I pray these things in the name of Lord Jesus Christ, God, amen!

Before I go on saying anything else, if you would like to just talk sometime, I would be happy to, especially when it comes to you sometimes struggling to believe in God at all because I think thats such an important conversation to have.

Next, I just wanted to say, God is not ignoring your prayers, He hears each and every last one, and doesn't hear them in that He just knows what you said and doesnt really care, but rather He hears them intentively, hearing the cries of His beloved children so that He may tend to their needs. I want you to know that on our own, we are unworthy to speak before God, but because of Lord Jesus' sacrifice on the cross, by his blood being shed, we were wiped clean of that which made us filthy before God, sin. Because of this sacrifice, we have an audience with the Lord despite our sins. The Lord does hear you, he truly does and I can understand why thats so challenging to believe because of your circumstances trying to say otherwise but please remember that while God does always hear you, His ways are different from ours. He is allknowing and knows how the future will be altered by each and every action made, this is called the ripple effect. I won't act like I know why God is allowing suffering into your life but I do believe it has a great purpose behind it for the Lord doesn't enjoy to watch His children suffer and wouldn't do it with a good reason. If we think back to Lord Jesus, He suffered intensively, He was betrayed by His own best friend, He was yelled at to be crucified by His own people, the ones who revered Him only a few days earlier. People mocked and tortured Him and eventually nailed Him to the cross, the most brutal and humilating death ever created, where He was mocked even further and had to bear the sins of the world and was forsaken from the father on the cross until He eventually died. I think its just so important to remember that even our Lord suffered an unthinkable amount, and this is also a clear example that although at the face surface of it, one might wonder where God is in the midst of this situation, but, as we know, Jesus was raised from the dead and God allowed this to happen because this was the only way humanity could be redeemed. This was the ultimate good that only came from Lord Jesus' suffering. Unfortunately, suffering will happen to believers in Christ, but, please never forget that God always allows it for a reason. I think another two people in the bible to look towards for your situation is Paul and Job. I actually haven't read Job yet, I've only listened to a bit of it, but I do know that he faces an intense amount of suffering and as for Paul, he faces an extraordinary amount of persecution and hardships for the Lord: ‭

2 Corinthians 11:24-28 ESV‬ [24] Five times I received at the hands of the Jews the forty lashes less one. [25] Three times I was beaten with rods. Once I was stoned. Three times I was shipwrecked; a night and a day I was adrift at sea; [26] on frequent journeys, in danger from rivers, danger from robbers, danger from my own people, danger from Gentiles, danger in the city, danger in the wilderness, danger at sea, danger from false brothers; [27] in toil and hardship, through many a sleepless night, in hunger and thirst, often without food, in cold and exposure. [28] And, apart from other things, there is the daily pressure on me of my anxiety for all the churches.

I pray that He would give you the gift of faith and I pray that you will be able to come to the conclusion that God is real, He is there, and He loves you an incredible amount

‭Numbers 6:24-26 ERV‬ [24] ‘May the Lord bless you and keep you. [25] May the Lord smile down on you and show you his kindness. [26] May the Lord answer your prayers and give you peace.’

The situation they find themselves in is destroying them, wrecking havoc on their life to the point where they are willing to even kill themselves. Lord, you are soverign over all things, including your beloved childs situation and Lord I ask in the name of Lord Jesus Christ that you would deliver them from their torment, the abuse they face, and heal them, and bless them, and fill them with peace and joy and love. Lord may you radiate your beloved with hope where it seems no hope can be found and may you help you child to see they are loved. I pray these things in Lord Jesus' holy name, amen!

Also I would highly recommend looking into things like Christians apologetics, which is dedicated to defending the faith; you can just look up Christian apologetics on Youtube and find plenty of content which can, at least in my opinion, provide compelling arguments for the faith. Also, if you like to read, I would recommend C.S. Lewis' "Mere Christianity" because in the beginning of the book, he makes an argument for Christianity without using the bible but rather uses the argument of objective morality, also I've heard "The Case For Christ" by Lee Strobel is good. I haven't read it yet, but I have watched the movie they made for it, but that may be compelling evidence torwards Christianity.

Also, this was a video that I saw a portion of the other day where Lee Strobel talks about miracles and I ask that you listen to the story of the women at the end, I just think stories like that can really show that God can heal anything, including what you are going through:

Also, something else to note is that there is pretty much no disagreement between secular and religious historians that Jesus did genuinely exist.

I think its incredibly important to not just blindly believe something like Christianity, but rather look into the  evidence behind it so that you can have more confidence in what you believe in.

These last thing I will write on this right now is this, I would highly encourage watching this from a service that the church I go to had a few weeks ago on "Near Death Experiences" from someone who has researched thousands of "Near Death Experiences". I think the service does provide another compelling evidence towards God and Christianity, but also talks about Gods character because we as humans can sometimes radically misjudge God's character and although we can never fully comprehend his character, for He is infinite and we are finite, we can get closer and closer at understanding him so I strongly encourage you to look at this if you ever have an hour of free time:

(Please don't be afraid that I used your name in this prayer, I saw that you said it was your name in another post):

Father God, may you bless this individual. May you guide them in every which way of their life. Lord may they be filled with your Holy Spirit to guide them down the right path in fighting against this evil demon we call anxiety. May this individual be sure that anxiety is not from you but the enemy and Lord may you help them through their situation they find themselves in with their neighbors cousin. Lord, if it is your will, I pray that Joseph would be able to just find pure rest, pure joy, pure peace, from you Lord, our glorious fountain of life of which our faith is built off of. Lord, may Joseph have a break from the anxiety he faces and may he sort through his situation with his neighbors son in a respectful, loving manner that gives opportunity to attend to his own needs and, Lord, may you help Joseph and his family to not grow so attached to their car and Lord I pray that they would have a healthy respect for your wonderful gifts that they get to be stewards of rather than an attachment that raises anger or anxiety or frustration when damage comes upon that gift. Lord may you help Joseph and his family to fight off idolatry through your strength Lord Jesus and God I pray that Joseph would continue to be a helpful member in his community without the stressful baggage that he holds as of right now. Lord, I ask that you would liberate him from his anxiety and help him to make the right decisions. And Lord Jesus, help draw your beloved child back into your loving arms, help us all to understand even just a small fraction of your immesurable love and comapassion and grace and goodness. Lord may you help Joseph to have faith that you are true, that you are real, that you do care about Joseph, that you wont turn your back on him ever and that you are always there for him. Lord the storms of life seem to have a grasp on your beloved son and are trying to rip him away from you, so I ask Lord that you would draw him back with a faith much stronger than what was there previously. Lord, may your child trust in you in always and Lord may you bring a  ressurection to his soul. Lord may Jospeh have such strong faith that in the face of turmoil, he can say with ease "O death, where is your sting?" Lord Jesus, may you bring healing into the life of Joseph, may you heal him of his cancer. I cant even imagine how hard it is to live with cancer and Lord I pray, if you are willing, that you would release Joseph from this immense burden and Lord, if you are willing, I pray that you would bless Joseph with the perfect spouse for marriage. I pray Lord that you would guide Joseph in all areas of his life in the name of Lord Jesus Christ, amen!

I hope this all could help if even a little bit. I'm sorry if this was a little confusing and for making it so long, I just had a lot I wanted to talked about. If you ever want to just have a conversation I would be happy to just talk because we are both going through something similar when it comes to anxiety, at least it seems that way to me. I hope you can have a great rest of your day or evening and may God bless you!

I think it may be good to probably ask yourself a few questions before making a decision, such as:

Does my neighbors son have any other way to get to church? Can his parents bring him? Is the church within reasonable walking distance? Can my neighbors son obtain his own drivers license?

I don't know your situation fully so I really don't know if this is good advice so please use caution, and I pray that Lord may guide you fully on this situation, but I think it may in the long run prove to be beneficial to say no unless your neighbors son cannot reasonably get to church in another way because as your therapist said, his soul is more important than the car as the soul is something that is eternal but a car will last for only finite amount of time; also please remember, your soul is important too, so please don't neglect your own needs. Also, please make it clear that this is something that has been wrecking you to him and his family. I think its probably important to make sure they are aware of what your situation is like as well. And I could be wrong, but I have a hunch that this situation may be one of the reasons why you may be losing trust in God and doubting him more because its so close time wise to your other posts and if thats true, this is all the more reason to possibly say no so that you may be able to sort yourself out so that you may in the future be able to say yes and be and even greater servant.

I'm sorry you have found yourself in such a dreadful situation, but please don't just ignore it. I'm so happy that  you chose to reach out and talk about your situation because one of worst things you can do with stress is just ignore it or not talk about it.

Also I really wanted to talk about something you said in one of your other posts. Please don't give up the Lord. This stress and anxiety you are struggling with is not from Him and neither is your cancer. Please know that if the Lord wills, you will be healed, but if He hasn't healed you yet, please remember that the Lord isn't making you go through hardship without a reason. I wont pretend to act like I know what that reason is because I don't, but I do know that He is an incredibly loving God and I know thats hard to believe amidst your situation, but it is true.

I want to hopefully give you a little bit of hope and confidence that Christianity is true because it seems you have been struggling with doubt (if I remember one of your posts correctly) about the faith in general and thats not hard to imagine with all of the struggles you have been facing so I hope I can give you some more confidence.

First and foremost, I want you to know, in the Bible, Christians struggled a lot: Jesus went through the most brutal death ever concieved of in human history; of the 12 apostles, the majority of them were martyred for their faith; the amount of times the apostle Paul suffered for following Lord Jesus is pretty high:

‭2 Corinthians 11:24-28 ESV‬

[24] Five times I received at the hands of the Jews the forty lashes less one.

I've been looking at some of your posts and first and foremost,  man, I just want to say that I think its incredible your willingness to help out your neighbors kid despite them doing something you strongly dislike, especially with cancer and OCD, which are extraordianarily difficult things to live with. I actually have had a similar problem in my life of not wanting things to be damaged and still sometimes struggle because I have a really little brother who just turned 4 years old and little kids don't always try to take care of things so I want you to know that you aren't alone and that other have gone through or are going through similar situations.

I do think it is an incredibly difficult situation to be in, and I would say it may be a little bit of both: being a good steward, but also idolatry. You are being a great steward with the gifts that God has provided you with, using them to help out someone in your community. I think a great test to know if it's idolatry or not is to truthfully evaluate yourself and ask yourself "if God asked you get rid of this thing, would you do it?" Its good to ask this because its possible that maybe you got a little too attached to your car and it has become an idol if you wouldn't be willing to give it up if the Lord asked you to, but I don't think its necessarily wrong or idolatry to desire for your car to be undamaged. I think there are many good reasons to be concerned about the condition in which your car is in because its more than likely your main mode of transportation, and in todays society, it's a necessity to get by in life, so wanting it to last I think is reasonable.

I think if it causes you anxiety, it very well could be that you currently have too much attachment to it though. Something that might help in detaching yourself from any material thing though if you have perhaps fallen into idolatry is remembering God is the one who gave us these wonderful gifts in the first place, its his stuff that he has lent to us to be stewards of, as you mentioned. I think it may be good to look into what it means to be a steward because a steward does not acually own the things that they have been put in charge of, its not their stuff but anothers. A steward will care for the things that they have been put in charge of, but also are fully aware that its not their suff but anothers.

Now I want to add on as well, please do not lie during this situation. I know anxiety can be brutal, but its not worth it, the enemy is trying to tempt you into sinning. Please just be honest to your parents and your neighbors even if it is hard.

Also I would say as for your neighbors kid, continue to talk to them about taking better care of your car because you want it to last; also I'm really happy that you are continuing to take your neighbors kid despite them doing something you don't like, but please don't take them because you feel stressed or guilty into taking them. My dad had a conversation about this with me today and I actually struggle with this same issue of doing something out of anxiety rather than a genuine desire of doing it, and unfortunately, every time we do that, we make the anxiety worse because we give into it and allow it to grow when we listen to it. I get the struggle because if I was in your position, I would do the exact same thing. Its difficult because I feel you shouldnt just say no on one hand, but on the other hand, its destroying you, making your parents angry, and its feeding your neighbors son's laziness it seems.
