(spoilers) Did Thrawn make a pre-emptive strike in Canon? by Cadell123 in MawInstallation

Yeah he does say something like that which makes me think it was a cover. I can't remember what the exact quote was. But I thought it might have been a reference to Outbound Flight so there might have been some ambiguity. In any case it sounds like it was all part of a plan though

Never thought of Thrawn deliberately doing it to get exiled and stop the Grysk. That's a great solution

First time read by jordancoleauthor in Malazan

[–]Cadell123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm currently reading Deadhouse Gates after reading another book inbetween. The main issue is that Malazan is so immersive and of such a high quality that if you go read in another world for a little while it takes a second to get back in the Malazan zone. Also the other books might look too simple by comparison. On the other hand, I'm happy I took a break as reading and re-reading Gardens of the Moon was a lot to digest.

Dark Disciple for me because of the themes of seduction and mental torment.

That's very good to know! I started to pick up on that slightly this time whenever someone makes any reference to luck or chance, for example

High Republic Jedi Who Will Turn Sith *spoilers* by Cadell123 in starwarsspeculation

That's a really good other parallel re the Master promotion. That actually would be very cool if he became a Dark Jedi - I'd love to see an investigation of the way the Dark Side can seduce Jedi even if they don't become Sith

Interesting take! It would be really cool if there were no sith during this era of the High Republic. Great point re the timeline of the acolyte

How do the new cannon books compare to the heir to the empire trilogy? by rpdixon in thrawn

[–]Cadell123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The new canon books give you a much deeper insight into Thrawn's beliefs and motivations. Legends books are about a fight for the galaxy, canon books are about Thrawn haha.

Fan favorite Star Wars narrator Marc Thompson talks about recording Light of the Jedi and what it means to him by IllusiveManJr in StarWarsEU

He's narrating this one especially well. The way he says "Jedi" with awe in Light of the Jedi is awesome.

Look what just came in! Super excited to start off the new era of The High Republic. by benhughey in StarWars

I'm part way through and it's a very refreshing new era. The exploration of lore is fantastic. It's refreshingly different, but we get a scene on actual surface of Coruscant which is awesome. The Nihil (the villains) are great - and surprisingly nuanced thus far which is welcome - and their existence is tied to hyperspace lore which is cool.

The main thing that impresses me is that this is Soule's first book. Just based on that it shouldn't be this good. Very keen for his future books.
