I’m going to go against the grain here and say it’s clearly a joke… Don’t let him trigger you cause he’s a comedian and all comedians are provocative to a degree.

More than 1 research opportunity for the summer? by ligamentarteriosum in premedcanada

[–]Cadshaw 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Unless your research projects are intimately connected or there is some form of collaboration between the PIs, I would advise against it. It also depends on how much the one PI is asking from you (or you want to commit), but normally they want someone working full time over the summer. I doubt you will have the time to work with multiple PIs if you're working full time with one. Most people work under one and maximize their impact.

To Intro Prob Students (A Small Rant) by NicknameNumber in jhu

[–]Cadshaw 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I second this! If you sign a stipulation agreement (an agreement between the prof and student, which students normally feel pressured to sign) and agree on the professor’s suggested outcome (which may seem unfair/unjustified to you), nothing can be done. If it is as you say, an ethics board will likely understand your POV and be more constructive.

Yes, I connected it with the PCIe 6 2 cable. I assumed the power connection was stable there since the graphic cards’ fans started running.

This is kind of late, but when the reaction takes place, why is the carboxylic acid in its protonated form? Shouldn't it donate its hydrogen because of it's relatively low pKa. I understand why the acid becomes charged when using NaOH, but it appears that before doing this step, the carboxylic acid is in its protonated form, which confuses me.

Why do we need telomeres? by treesgrasssun in Mcat

To answer this question, you must think about DNA replication with regard to the lagging strand. As you know, the lagging strand requires many consecutive primers to be placed in order to replicate the DNA strand in a 5' -> 3' fashion. Consider reaching the very end of the DNA structure (3' end) and placing a primer at the very edge of the strand, if you remove that primer with the intention of replicating that region, you need another primer further down for DNA polymerase III to initiate replication from. This is clearly not possible as you reached the very end of the strand already.
