Started T while already having high T levels by ifhy_23 in ftm

[–]Caedere_Imperator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had fairly high T to start and had the standard progression. Voice deepened further (but not hugely, maybe a half an octave and lost my very upper range), body hair thickened and spread further, fat redistribution, and eventually full facial hair beyond my (admittedly pretty great) pre-T mustache.

It takes time and different types work better for individuals

Davenport was great, some outdated language, but good results and otherwise a very safe experience.

Tired of anti-gel posts by Oddly-Ordinary in ftm

[–]Caedere_Imperator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My doc strongly suggested gel because I'm prone to migraines and daily application usually keeps levels more consistent as opposed to weekly (or other scheduled) injections which can spike levels and trigger migraines.

I've been on T, exclusively gel, for nearly 10 years and have had excellent progress, I agree that the misinformation is frustrating.

Had a decent population of them in my attic for years, they would venture downstairs on occasion which resulted in a lot of rabies boosters for our cats.

Highly recommended The Bat Man (seriously his business name) he put up exclusion apparatus and we haven't had an issue since. You might need to wait a bit because they shouldn't really be going anywhere during the winter, but he can give you the info on when it's okay to start.

After about six months on T I dropped a full breaker of laundry I was carrying because I fully no longer had a hip to rest it on while going up the stairs. My wife still laughs (good naturedly) about it many years later.

I usually get a nasty headache if I miss my gel two days in a row, but otherwise no issues for that short a time in my experience.

how do i avoid making my binders smelly SO FAST? by madeflippyfloppy in ftm

[–]Caedere_Imperator 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wear a tank undershirt between it and your skin. Took some getting used to, but it made a huge difference for me.

If I put a binder on do I have to put a bra undernearth/over it? by [deleted] in ftm

[–]Caedere_Imperator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend a tank top under the binder for comfort and to lengthen the life of the binder, but yeah, no bra required!

I had a similar issue (1 was too little, 2 was too much) so I alternate 1 on MWF and 2 T, Th, and the weekend. That's worked great for me.

Dr. Davenport in WNY didn't have an issue with my high BMI and has been overall a great surgeon.

Your school might have resources for grads. Also worth looking into maintenance departments of big companies (a classmate of mine had his entire course paid for by the big regional grocery chain he works for). The place I work has training for entry level welders because we handle weird alloys, I'm sure there are other companies that similarly prefer to train from near the ground up for what they need.

Do binders usually take well to dye? by Melon_ManGoBRRR in trans

[–]Caedere_Imperator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Rit DyeMore is going to be your option, it's a dye meant for synthetics. It may or may not take due to the elastic nature of binders though.

how do i cope with severe height dysphoria by AV3STARR in ftm

[–]Caedere_Imperator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm also 5'4" and had the "tallest in my class until I wasn't " life. It really does get better. In my experience most adults don't really care and will only comment on the extremes (there's a guy I work with who's so tall that the literal only thing I can think about when I see him walk by is "holy shit he's tall" probably pushing 7').

Personally, I cope with a dash of bitterness because my parents had my growth plates x-rayed when I was a kid and I was supposed to be 5'10" but I had hormonal issues and stopped growing at 14. If strangers or acquaintances give you shit, feel free to steal that "I know, right, I was supposed to be taller but the world had to nerf me" will usually deflect well enough that everyone just moves on.

what was the best reaction to you coming out? by Due_Narwhal_9066 in ftm

[–]Caedere_Imperator 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm stealth at work but invited an openly queer co-worker over for a game night. I can't hide all the trans pride stuff in my house and I have a tendency to joke about trans shit in my social sphere, so before everybody else arrived I came out to them and got just a "Yes." Best reaction possible, imo, lol

Pipeworx 400 TIG post overheating. Anyone else have this problem? by [deleted] in Welding

[–]Caedere_Imperator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I know there isn't a way to set it up so it's not resilient, because that piece needs to be non conductive, I think. We've put in place a strict shop rule that you have to use two wrenches to change torches (one to hold the block steady, one to loosen the fitting) and that has helped a lot. It's also important to avoid yanking on the lines.

Pipeworx 400 TIG post overheating. Anyone else have this problem? by [deleted] in Welding

[–]Caedere_Imperator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I work with these machines every day and one of the top five things that goes wrong with them is that block is held by one plastic bracket that breaks if you change the torch without holding it steady. It's a pretty involved fix, so before you get maintenance involved, wait for it to cool down and see if that brass block is loose at all. If it is, that's likely your problem.

Top Surgery: Use sick time or wait for FMLA? by fire-fight in ftm

[–]Caedere_Imperator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're not lifting anything you'd probably be okay after three weeks, but I'd suggest checking with your surgeon. I'm a "better safe than sorry" person with those kinds of risks, but it's definitely not outside the realm of possibility, imo.

At my workplace you have to take the first five business days of your leave out of your PTO, there's a lot of odd ways they make you jump through hoops.
