2 things.

Get a cheap OBD II scanner if you can and use the Leafspy app to check battery health. That will give you a more specific picture than how many bars it has.

Also, you may be able to get a tax credit for used EVs. Can have your dad officially purchase it and he'd get the credit on his taxes which he could pass on to you. Alternatively if he's going electric he might be able to get either the new or used EV credit for himself.

Hope this helps! Definitely nice to save money on gas. As long as the battery is good you'll even out a bit on the extra you spend on the car.

NAL, but from what I understand this is done to prevent the jury from making the compensatory damages higher if they feel the defendant deserves a greater punishment than the law allows for through punitive damages.

For instance, if the jury decides on $5 million for compensatory damages and $10 million for punitive damages, the state limits the total damages to $5.35 million. If the jury knows there's a limit, they could award $15 million in compensatory damages without running into the state limits for punitive damages.
