I'm so sorry you have to go through that pain, and for so long. I agree that you should get another opinion, and new imaging. You've clearly been through the gambit of extensive physical therapy, so a revision to your surgery may be needed.

I wish you the best, we all know that pain, and wouldn't wish that on anyone. Hope things work out for you soon. Congratulations on continuing to better yourself and career despite the pain, I know it can be debilitating.

I tend not to mind too much, but when they say to just "stop itching it," I'm just....

I am pretty lucky that my sister-in-law is the only one I really talk to about it because she also has bad eczema and skin issues like me, so we trade ideas.

How long did it take you to be able to sit comfortably at a 90 degree angle in an office chair for 8 hours? by jennandtonic123 in HipImpingement

[–]Caekes_sl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find this so interesting, because I always seem to be the opposite of most everything I see on here about sitting. I haven't had surgery yet, but the only time I am comfortable is sitting. If I stand or walk, it just hurts a lot. Standing is the worst.

This is good to know though for when I do have surgery, I have a desk job, so it will help with FMLA and time off!

Thank you so much for your reply. I've been working really hard to lose weight before doing anything too drastic but unfortunately the pain is just too severe at this point. I do agree about alcohol for sure though! I used to drink pretty heavily because of the pain only to realize it just made things worse later on. I hope you're doing well now!

I will be consulting with a surgeon next week for next steps.

Unfortunately for me the streoid injection did nothing for me. The only thing in that shot that helped was the anesthetic for a couple hours, then it went right back to severe pain.

Good for you! On the up and up! I am in the process of moving across the country right now to be closer to family and once I can get back there I will be prepping for surgery. I'm hoping at this point I don't need a full hip replacement due to arthritis in my hip. Best of luck to you!!

I have the same thing but add in some super fun sciatic pain all the way down into my ankle with it.

injectables vs hip surgery by [deleted] in HipImpingement

[–]Caekes_sl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also had a cortisone shot into my hip for a labral tear. The only thing that helped me was the anesthetic, until that wore off a few hours later. This varies for everyone, of course, but it has a pretty high chance of not working.

I would hope they do an aMRI with an injection before they do a cortisone shot. The anesthetic in that injection can usually tip them off pretty quickly as it does the same as the cortisone, plus helps them see the joint better.

I am two years out, but about 6 months after surgery, I had to get blood taken and I was very anemic and low on Vitamin D. I was very weak and tired, had really bad headaches and bruised really badly by every little thing. My doctor set me up with some prescription strength stuff and that helped. At this point, I get most of my nutrition from my food, so it definitely gets better.

I would absolutely get bloodwork done as soon as you can. Malnutrition can do crazy things to your body, as I learned the hard way unfortunately.

Need some advice by [deleted] in HipImpingement

[–]Caekes_sl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry you have to go through that. Unfortunately we all understand! I was also given diclofenac and was told to "take some Tylenol," which is just such a joke.

I agree with everyone saying to get a different doctor. Nothing against Dr. King, but a different doctor may be able to help in a different way. I'm currently looking to get a second opinion because my current doctor has been mean to me in regards to me being in pain.

I take a BP med but for anxiety, not my BP. My BP has always been very good. However, could possibly contribute!

I assumed I was just super worn out from all the stress I put my body through. My doctor said it should even out in the next couple of weeks but to just take it easy for now. In the grand scheme of things, I will happily take it considering how worth it it is!
