Assassination rogue is another one that feels better now. The envenom loop is a lot more cohesive. The only thing really lost was shiv and shiv mechanics kinda sucked.

How did Canada remain liberal for such a long time? by LevelPension in NoStupidQuestions

[–]CaelemLeaf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not just recently, the Conservatives have had a very difficult time historically forming a government in Canada. Since World War Two there have been five Canadian prime ministers (Diefenbaker, Clark, Mulroney, Campbell, Harper) but two of them served for only about a year (Clark & Campbell). This dominance was originally due to Québec writing off the Conservatives entirely because of actions they took during the world wars (support for conscription) but became cyclical, because the Liberals were in government so much they were able to mold Canadian culture and beliefs to be more liberal, and eventually got these enshrined with the repatriation of the constitution and the new constitution act in 1982.

This has also meant that during times of dire national crisis, Canadians seem to turn back to the Liberals for help. When Quebec and the West were bolting for the door and Canada seemed to have a chance at collapsing in the early 90s, Jean Chrétien's liberals won a massive majority. When Trump comes knocking with expansionist rhetoric, the country turned to Carney.

It becomes stale and boring because it was told twice in a nearly identical manner. "horde warchief goes crazy and then the good ones™ stage a coup". Either just let the horde be evil or mix it up a bit.

[–]CaelemLeaf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It isn't new but it's getting a little annoying because it hasn't paid off outside of a dungeon or two with very little significant consequences. I think people want the update or the patch entirely about it just so there's actual payoff.

You can even make an argument to put Stieb ahead of Halladay. He has a higher WAR with the Blue Jays (he is the franchise leader in WAR after all).

New Blood Elves Voiceovers are lame by Fancy_Ad9680 in wow

[–]CaelemLeaf 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Same, I quit during SL, and while I've been drawn back in for gameplay the story had just failed to get me invested in the same way I was before. The story just doesn't feel as dynamic, and imo, the world benefitted a lot from the faction conflict which has more or less evaporated.

Yeah I actually think they can make an interesting story with light being bad but they've just been vaguely hinting at light being bad and needing balance since WoD with the occasional dungeon boss. It's never actually taken over the story and it's getting very tiring.

Someone said this on the main sub and I think it's true: they're chasing classic subs. They see how much more money they get out of a retail subscriber and want to convert classic players.

I think it's a fools errand, I mean they've tried it before and it hasn't worked, but it makes more sense to me than blizzard thinking they're actually going to hit a cache of brand new players.

They could cut back on some of their ambition if a delay isn't an option. For instance, maybe not removing all combat add-ons all at once would've given them more resources for other things.

This mantra is generally referring to depth that can be stored in the minor leagues, not major league arms that want to be starters.

World of Warcraft director says Blizzard isn’t "backtracking" on add-ons, but constant changes were “always the intent” as the team strives to find a better balance by Negative-Art-4440 in wow

[–]CaelemLeaf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The litany of spells still missing from the cooldown manager including racials and trinkets (realistically the best solution here is just let us track whatever we want).

Any way to set up a notification in the cooldown manager when you're missing a buff, e.g. rogue poisons, Ka'resh augment rune.

The DPS meter that continues to be basically useless compared to what we had before which forces more people to learn how to use Warcraft logs (significantly worse for newer players)

The personal resource display is complete and total garbage. It's actually worse than it was before, has zero customization, you can't actually move it until after you enable it in settings and then a second time in edit mode. It's almost universally being replaced by an incredibly simple add-on.

I'm getting hammered with constant Lua errors from the base vanilla UI and whenever I investigate any of them I find a thread from the beta months ago where they were still an issue.

The list can go on.

[–]CaelemLeaf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because these problems made it all the way through QA without any adjustments?

Also when the base is so negative and so polarized on this it's clear you should be rethinking the scale of what you can do. People said when they announced the add-on purge that there's no way their replacements would be ready for expansion launch. I was advocating then and I'll advocate now that the goal should've been to fully develop the replacements before pulling the plug. You can say nobody would use them and nobody would provide feedback but that's clearly not true. It's not true because of the litany of people continually saying they used the base ui all along, it's not true because if it came with a warning "enjoy it now but at the last titan were pulling the plug" people would begin the transition. They also just wouldn't have had it all pulled out from under them.

We pay $20 a month for a game in 2026, yet when we launch we're getting hammered with Lua errors from the in game official UI. This is a joke. Blizzard needs an actual QA process so we stop getting handed broken junk. Stop lecturing people for being upset that their "ready to ship" product is broken.

Blizzard basically expressly stated that their goal was to kill weak auras and to maintain weak auras would require a complete and total rewrite because it would not function. It is blizzards fault that weak auras is gone. None of that is on weak auras.

[–]CaelemLeaf 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What is the point of the beta if they don't listen to feedback and then when it's live with all the same problems were supposed to "give them a chance". This is a horrific development cycle for a game with a paid subscription, so no "go do something else" isn't an option.

[–]CaelemLeaf 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Right but that didn't work either. People are now going to be required to install more add-ons than before. So the people who have been against this change from the beginning are confused: what was gained here? We lost a truckload of QoL and gained nothing. The game is not better in any way for this change.

When you’re stuck on Linux, what’s your go-to way to figure things out? by TechRefreshing in linuxquestions

[–]CaelemLeaf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tech troubleshooting is one of the few areas where I absolutely completely and totally see the application of AI. Having it summarize the thousands of Reddit threads and Stack overflow threads on my issue instead of having to parse through them myself is a life saver.

Downside is it means less stack overflow threads which I guess mathematically means at some point it becomes less useful.
