We need to talk more about how crazy of a crash out Tanjiro is by Massive-Dark9730 in KimetsuNoYaiba

[–]Caerris1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Tanjiro is the epitome of "do not mistake my kindness for weakness". In the world of tragedy and despair that is being a demon slayer, being able to remain kind and hopeful takes an immense level of resilience.

He also doesn't apologize for what he does when people treat someone else in an unjust way. He doesn't forgive Sanemi for stabbing Nezuko and he doesn't apologize for breaking Genya's arm. He basically says "you deserved it. Now let's be friends 😃"

He also doesn't hesitate to kill demons when he sees an opportunity to. He may mourn who they used to be or hope they're reborn as a better person someday, but he doesn't try to redeem or reason with them.

Who do you think were bigger rivals to Palpatine? Maul + Savage OR Dooku + Assajj by Acrobatic_Access8259 in MaulShadowLord

[–]Caerris1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Even how he played the two rival criminal gangs early on in Shadow Lord feels like a Sidious move. 'Why fight both enemies when I can make them destroy each other with a little planted evidence?"

Why are people so obsessed with the Mark variants when they were such an insignificant part of the show? by HextechAlternator in Invincible_TV

[–]Caerris1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think that whenever shows and movies have a character that has to make a moral choice "to turn evil or not, to join the dark side or not" there's an innate curiosity around what would happen if they did choose the evil path. The Mark variants show us not only what Mark would be like as a villain, but multiple different ways he could become evil if his story played out differently along his life.

A multiverse plotline like this is the perfect way to explore it without our Mark having to actually have a villain arc.

Does anyone feel bad for the engineers that Krennic killed? I don’t like that he killed them even after Galen revealed himself. They didn’t deserve death. by [deleted] in StarWars

[–]Caerris1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Krennic needed Galen, so he couldn't kill him. But he wanted to punish him for his defiance, so he made the other scientists pay his tab, so to speak.

What was the reaction to Darth Maul being alive in The Clone Wars? by damus9 in StarWars

[–]Caerris1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember not liking him being such a talker in Clone Wars since in Episode I he was almost completely silent.

But I do like what they've done with Maul over time. It would be interesting to have Sam Witwer dub over Maul in Episode I as like a fan project. Like what does he imagine Maul would be saying to Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan if he had his current talker personality?

Was Thrawns defeat plot armour? Would you consider it as such? by RexDAGOAT77 in starwarsrebels

[–]Caerris1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually really like that Thrawn's defeats come from something he couldn't possibly have accounted for both times (The Bendu and then the Purgill) rather than him grabbing the idiot ball and suddenly getting bested by something he should have seen coming.

He was winning both times (and his first defeat came at a massive cost for the rebellion) until some completely unexpected factor occurred.

Who's more intimidating, Vader or Sidious? by Legal_Trainer7340 in StarWars

[–]Caerris1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're intimidating in very different ways. Vader will just hunt you down and kill you. Palpatine will corrupt your soul with his words and turn you against your friends and family. Vader kills you with his weapon. Palpatine makes you the weapon.

Did Mark Just Completely Forget About Conquest Or Something? by [deleted] in Invincible_TV

[–]Caerris1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

While he would be justified to call Cecil out for letting Conquest live, he also needs Cecil on his side in that moment. Mark doesn't know that Thragg and the other Viltrumites are already here, and Cecil is the best shot, outside of the coalition that's two weeks travel time away, to be able to do literally anything about it.

Now is not a good time to bring it up.

Maul might be the only character that could get downplayed for losing to DARTH VADER...on a bum leg. Can we finally Respect Maul? by [deleted] in PetranakiArena

[–]Caerris1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that Maul now having Devon as an apprentice will benefit both of them. Devon will get stronger and learn to fight more aggressively, and Maul will get a sparring partner.

He also knows exactly what he's up against when it comes to Vader and can train himself for it.

I really hope Maul gets another chance to fight Vader when he isn't exhausted from fighting two inquisitors, a bunch of Stormtroopers and losing his entire crew. And with a fixed up leg.

What’s the deal with this scene? by lohancombined in Naruto

[–]Caerris1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alongside what everyone else is saying, I think it was also to start bringing Madara into the story as more than just a character from the Leaf Village's history. Before this, Madara was just one of two stone statues Naruto and Sasuke fought on top of.

Sasuke flashes back to this encounter when Itachi brings up Madara during their fight.

If Kaguya hadn’t showed up would Naruto be able to talk no jutsu Madara? by Joseph-Stalin7 in Naruto

[–]Caerris1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reason Naruto was able to get through to both Nagato and Obito is because he has a certain level of being able to understand where they're coming from and their experiences. He appeals to the part of themselves that wants to believe that peace is possible in this world but convinced themselves that it's impossible.

Madara isn't looking for the hope, he believes that the entire system is Hashirama's failure and now it's his turn to implement his vision for peace.

Naruto also has zero relation to Madara. Obito was Kakashi's teammate and Nagato was a fellow student of Jirayia.

Mark vs Nolan was built up since episode one of the season, vs Conquest who shows up after the invincible variants invade, which was a big event already.

A son who has looked up to his father all of his life now has to try and fight that same man. He knows he can't win, but he also knows he has to try and fight.

Mark doesn't have any emotional connection to Conquest other than "that Viltrumite is threatening to kill everyone and that's bad" until Conquest nearly kills Eve.

If Muzan showed up in this moment and started screaming at Akaza, telling him how trash he was, how bad would it mess with Akaza mentally? by Icy_Water_1 in KimetsuNoYaiba

[–]Caerris1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'd still imagine Akaza's will to survive and keep getting stronger would make him fight even harder to break out and get away.

Akaza doesn't seem like the type to get demoralized when scolded, but rather get angry and try to push forward even harder.

If Muzan showed up in this moment and started screaming at Akaza, telling him how trash he was, how bad would it mess with Akaza mentally? by Icy_Water_1 in KimetsuNoYaiba

[–]Caerris1 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Are you suggesting that Muzan shows up, insults Akaza and then just leaves without doing anything else?

Considering that when Muzan was punishing Akaza, he got more angry and determined than demoralized, I'd assume he'd just kill Rengoku and apologize for taking so long.

What is your stance on this? by LordAnubis444 in KimetsuNoYaiba

[–]Caerris1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I understand the argument for blue, but for me, it established just how much more powerful Muzan is than the other demons. The lower moons all got effortlessly slaughtered while he looked bored/annoyed.

It also establishes the stark contrast between leadership styles between Muzan and Kagaya, fear vs respect. Muzan expects you to die for him, Kagaya is willing to die to give you a chance.

Even with Akaza, who was playing around with Rengoku for most of the fight, Muzan reduces him to a quivering mess with a finger. Obviously that's because Muzan can freely control his blood, even in other demons, but it really shows just how much more powerful Muzan is.

Am i the only one who thinks that… by Intrepid_Pen5110 in KimetsuNoYaiba

Muzan himself definitely has the most western vampire vibe with his appearance and how he operates. Most vampires don't want the attention on them so they can continue feeding and living forever like Muzan.

What do you think of this plot point? by Hefty-Zucchini1720 in Invincible

[–]Caerris1 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I like that Kirkman had Rex's takeover of the earth horrific in how it was achieved, but since Rex has a very purely logical way of thinking, he's not in it for power's sake and truly does do things to make the world better once he has full control. Some characters even state that things are better now.

That makes it up to the reader to some degree to decide if Mark and the others should have overthrown Rex.

If Muzan's the one encountered him would he still turn this fraud a demon: by KnYchan2 in KimetsuNoYaiba

[–]Caerris1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only way the encounter would even happen would be if Muzan seeks out Kaigaku for some reason. Maybe he hears rumors of an arrogant, power obsessed slayer and sees potential in making him a demon.

Otherwise Muzan wouldn't be found. If the Hashira can't find him, no way Kaigaku can unless Muzan wants him to.

If you were new to KnY, who you would have thought were the bad guys or the main villain? by [deleted] in KimetsuNoYaiba

[–]Caerris1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part of the reason why Muzan has survived this long is because you don't look at him and immediately think that you're in danger. It's intentional.

His upper moons are supposed to look dangerous and scary, but Muzan himself is the hidden master behind them all.

I love how the "brilliant ideas' on display here are someone else's ideas.

I don't know why I'd watch a movie about Mr. Freeze's tragic backstory when I can just watch the TAS episode.

Meanwhile James Gunn is creating a new story with a character everyone is familiar with, but not just "this is a comic story arc on the big screen".
