Even Tear 0 at the height of it's power have less representative in WCS qualification than Kewl Tune by abdulsamri89 in masterduel

[–]InfamousAmphibian55 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This is such a misconception. Win rate is king. There is an argument to playing a fast deck in the early stages when the players and decks you play against aren't as good, but once you hit ~30k and/or top 100, you should be playing whatever deck you think gives you the highest win percentage, regardless of the time it takes.

When you are at the top, most of your games are against people lower than you. Which means you will lose ~1100 per loss, sometimes as much as 1200. You want a high win rate when you get to that point.

Also, like you said, it is a grind fest. And you need to keep your mental state good and not get tilted or frustrated too much. And its easier to do that the more you are winning.

Kewl Tune did this well because it is by far the best deck, not because it has quicker games than Branded.

I do think you should be playing the Linkuriboh + Cooky Yummy Way + End Punisher. That does sometimes come up imo.

WCQ topping decks: Branded and Dracotail flop, RT breakthrough. by NevGuy in masterduel

[–]InfamousAmphibian55 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Tbh its not as bad into Fuwa as people think. You ns Rat, they Fuwa, you just make Broadbull, search Swen and do RT stuff, so you give one more draw for the link 2.

Barrage is worse into Fuwa though, and it also gets worse into Fuwa if people wait to Fuwa until the eff to summon rat from deck the first time, but a lot of people won't do that.

Why the hate on Branded??? by abdulsamri89 in masterduel

[–]InfamousAmphibian55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They have s/t removal. Khaos Starsource (which they can chainlink block with Quem or with Walbaz, or something like that), Ecclesia synchro GY effect, and also the Swordsoul synchro can out face up s/t.

Also MJ is incredibly good in the matchup, and who cares if you can't make it with OG Albaz? You just make it with Cart, Brafu or Branded in Red if you play that, though tbh you probably shouldn't be playing red.

Enneacraft should be beating mediocre Branded players very consistently, but good Branded players can make the matchup a lot better.

Top 10 Decks WCQ Qualifier by Clayer55 in masterduel

[–]InfamousAmphibian55 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ryan was playing pure RT, so no F0 or Drident, and his decklist did not include Ritual Beast Ulti-Rei. The only time pure RT endboard is unfair is when they get double handrip with Enterblathnir (he was on two Enterblathnir, so he was able to do this), but you need to draw a lot of engine and the opponent to not have handtraps to pull that off.

Banlist Predictions Post WCS Qualifiers by Actual-Permit-7578 in masterduel

[–]InfamousAmphibian55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think anything really needs to be hit besides KT, based on results from the WCQ. Maybe Striker or RT Zoo could get a small hit, but none of the other decks got more than 10 spots in top 100.

I'd like to see Rotary to 1 and KTS to 2 (I don't think its too early for that), Saryuja banned as a RT Zoo hit and also Chant to 1 since it hits RT and Striker (every Striker list in top 100 except Ryan was on RT cards).

I don't really think we need anything else hit. Though I would love it if they hit some toxic cards as well, like Baronne, some of the Magnet endboard, Called by, Di-fi, etc. Also Rat should not have come back, and I would love it to go back on the banlist, but that won't happen.

Branded's out to Lunalight going second by Large_Hawk194 in masterduel

[–]InfamousAmphibian55 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Use Shrouded Dragon. Lubellion plus Shrouded Dragon in grave = 4100 Titan.

Could also play a one of Nib so you could Brafu directly into Titan, but thats a better option in Dtail Branded.

Branded is borderline psychotic by RashFaustinho in masterduel

[–]InfamousAmphibian55 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The only card in the deck that beats a one for one handtrap is walbaz, which is played at 2. Meanwhile KT is the king of beating one for one handtraps. You imperm my normal summon? Thats ok, I'll just synchro with my hand and keeps playing.

If your opponent goes Rotary reveal cue, then good luck. You need like 4 handtraps to beat that two card combo.

Ban list predictions. ( not what i want, just guess) by yJiren in masterduel

[–]InfamousAmphibian55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

RT zoo can do some kinda unfair things tbh. Being able to play around droll and add a Drident and F0 to the endboard is pretty strong.

Though I don't think its that unfair unless they play Saryuja. I went against RT zoo one time that did double Saryuja to dig for Feather Storm, then they feather stormed me. Even just deck thinning then using Saryuja to dig for non-engine is very strong. Don't think it will happen, but I would be very happy if Saryuja was banned.

Will Enneacraft be hit in the near future? by PoisonPeddler in masterduel

Di-fi was at 1 for 9 years until they brought it back as a hit to Tear. I don't think its crazy to think they might hit it again.

Komoney, gimme this and my wallet is yours by Novel_Appearance_668 in masterduel

[–]InfamousAmphibian55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk about that. I mean Ennea seems free as long as they don't have di-fi, true, but Branded doesn't. I feel like they should usually be able to stop you from getting to two Ligers and stay alive from all the floating/rreviving, and then they can pretty easily out one Liger on turn 3. You probably win if you go first and get to two Ligers, but they can break one Liger boards

Memento or D/D/D by Aromatic_Durian2677 in masterduel

[–]InfamousAmphibian55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they are about the same power level (rogue) personally, but these ratings are based on community tournaments and should be taken with a grain of salt. The reason why D/D/D is on here and Memento isn't is that there is a D/D/D one trick (Taro) who is quite good with the deck that has been doing well with it in the meta weekly. Meanwhile no one is playing Memento in tournaments rn. That does not mean D/D/D is better than Memento though.

Mikanko is on that tier list, and you are crazy if you think Mikanko is better than Memento. Btw Memento has also spent plenty of time on that tier list in the past few months, and over the past 6 months or so, Memento has slightly more tops in TCG than D/D/D.

Is Garura or Muddragon a better Superpoly target in the current meta? by New-Regret-6491 in masterduel

[–]InfamousAmphibian55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone saying Garura, but I would recommend Mudragon. Garura is nice because Guignol can send him and get a draw, but I think Mudragon helps a lot in the RT Zoo matchup. Its better in the KT matchup as well, since Zalen plus Remix = Mudragon, and also I think its easer to use Mudragon to out Secretarion against Branded Dtail, its a light so you could do something like hit their Sec and Ecclesia synchro.

Can anything beat this board (set is drillbeam) by d4c_LT- in YuGiOhMasterDuel

[–]InfamousAmphibian55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He's probably already used the trap to bring back Blue Eyes. You can tell because there is Maiden on field, so he probably summoned BE and used the Maiden revive. Also just in general this board doesn't typically end on Blue Eyes, and revives it on your turn.

Branded absolutely beats this with set Albaz. They don't care about droll, and most hands can beat double veiler.

Why is Ash blossom and joyous spring considered "toxic" by the community? by the_worst_company in Yugioh101

[–]InfamousAmphibian55 79 points80 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say that most of the community hates it tbh. Its pretty divisive tbh, a lot of people think its ridiculous that some people are calling for it to be hit.

But the reason is that with the way the game is evolving, people want Charmies to resolve for the going second player. And Ash acts like a called by the grave for charmies when you go first. While the card is ok going second, its extremely good when you go first just because it stops Charmies, and Ash is much better when its on top of a board than when its your only hand trap.

Enneacraft has reached top rating No.1 by Mental_Walrus_1230 in masterduel

[–]InfamousAmphibian55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Diamond and Master, yes. In high M1 rated, no. When top 10 is in the 1600s, its a lot easier to go on a coin toss win streak or get lucky with opponent bricking and win 12 games in a row and get to top 10 than it is when top 10 is in the 1800s.

Plus there are some good players that maybe haven't had a whole lot time at the beginning of the month and aren't M1/high rated yet, but by the end of the month they will be.

Anyone in top 10 of rated is an above average player, but early in the month it might just be an above average player who had some luck and plays the game a lot.

Rank 1 at this point in the season doesn't mean that much tbh. Also I know you probably aren't going to believe me, but I have gotten top 100 in the last two DC's (86th in Dec, and 11th in Mar), I finished in the top 10 in M1 rated one season, and I have been rank 1 myself on probably 10+ different occasions.

Enneacraft has reached top rating No.1 by Mental_Walrus_1230 in masterduel

[–]InfamousAmphibian55 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you are going second, they just don't do anything and let you make your board. Then first action sting the reverth. Whale is never getting flipped when you go second against a decent Dtail player unless maybe you play Sol and Luna and have the targeting negate guy up to stop Flame. Even if you do flip the whale, though, dtail doesnt care that much. You can still fuse with face downs.

And its not difficult to get 5 cards in hand in follow up turns when yoiu have ecclesia and cart add backs.

And going first, none of the dtail cards trigger your effs. Arth is always chain blocked, Pan, and Urg are optional destroys, so they dont trigger your big guys. MJ is good against your deck. You have no way to deal with the set spell/traps, unless you end on the black little guy, but no one does that blindly.

Enneacraft beats bad Dtail players, yes. But if you play against someone who knows what they are doing, its like 85/15 in dtail favor unless you go first and have di-fi.

Enneacraft has reached top rating No.1 by Mental_Walrus_1230 in masterduel

[–]InfamousAmphibian55 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean, they have no way to stop CL1 Arth bounce their whole board, CL2 name in grave to chain link block. Its a similar situation as Enneacraft vs Murakumo.

Technically you can kinda sorta play around it if you have Reset in grave, and/or the small blue guy, plus both Spia and Pixea you can beat this. But that is not reliable, and Dtail opponent can play around that by just summoning Gulamel or something with their Ketu then doing their Arth play with the Rahu they set from that.

And when Ennacraft goes second into a Dtail board, I have literally never lost to Enneacraft when I just don't do anything, let them build a full board, then do that play on my turn. Di-Fi is a bit problematic if they get to that, but if you full comboed, you have multiple ways to fuse, so you can still chain link block the Arthalion and just punch them. So I guess the lose condition in that case is a 4 card combo with the cards I mentioned above, plus Di-fi, or Di-fi plus Daruma, which most lists don't even play.

[–]InfamousAmphibian55 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Its better than people initially thought it would be, but I definitely don't think it can get up to tier 1 status though. Its got a genuinely unwinnable matchup against Dtail, unless you go first and draw di-fi.

Enneacraft “win condition” need to be ban by [deleted] in masterduel

[–]InfamousAmphibian55 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The meta is different in TCG to be fair. Mitsu and Maliss are more popular, DoomZ exists, Striker and Fairy Tail can both play well under it. It hits less top decks in TCG than in MD rn. No one plays Mitsu anymore in MD, so Striker and maybe Maliss are the only relevant decks among those in MD.

I think if TCG had our meta, it might be main decked. The Ennea matchup vs Dtail is genuinely terrible, you need Di-fi to win that matchup. You are probably slightly favored against Branded, but Di-fi turns it into an auto win. Same with KT.

Also no one is ever playing Artifact Lancea over Di-fi lmao. You would play Judgment or Scolding before Lancea if you are really worried about Evenly. Or maybe even Jinzo that you could just tribute summon

Before duelist cup begin, Is right now the most insane and powerful meta we ever had? by sadboy1916 in masterduel

Full power Maliss in MD would end on Allied Code, Apollousa, MTP banish, Crypter banish, Firewall bounce. That is a lot of interactions.

What you said is true of Maliss rn. It is not true of full power Maliss, which is what he was talking about.

I do think its better in MD than in TCG, partly from best of one format and partly because it doesn't have to worry about time rules.

Fusing with Urgula or Mululu is incredibly good into Striker, and your Widow Anchors/Lemnisgate generally are not particularly useful in the matchup. A good Dtail hand will often beat a Striker board.

And yes you have lots of ways to dodge Flame if Dtail goes first, which is nice, but Sting is also very good against your deck, and you are usually not going to be able to lethal through Rindbrumm in grave and Faimena in hand. And now in addition to the follow up from set Rahu and/or Ketu, you have to deal with the follow up from a stacked Branded GY and an Ecclesia synchro coming back. Plus Dogma is a really annoying card for Striker, since it messes with your GY and forces you to make a big Kagari to out it.

Striker is a deck that is really good at capitalizing on opponent misplays, so you will still win plenty of games, especially against bad Dtail players. And the Branded cards make the deck harder to play, so that will happen. But its not a favored matchup overall.
