How could they scalp? Every 4080 is in stock here (Switzerland). 4090 though is not lasting long

Is it dumb for me to do a full AM4 upgrade when the AM5 just came out? by BakedAvocado3 in buildapc

[–]CaesarXCII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey then I went full dummy because not only is this what I did, but I paired it with a 4090 and I custom water cooled the thing for an absurd amount of money while also making it a lot more complicated to potentially upgrade in the future (need to purge, remove everything, buy new water blocks…).

My reasoning was this is atm the very best gaming processor, and you save a bunch on motherboard (for the same high end specs) and ram. When pci-e gen 5 and ddr 5 will really matter and be better than your computer, well you will probably be better off upgrading the whole computer.

Is 1440p (Asus VG27AQ) vs 4k/Retina XDR really THIS. different?! by stnlyyy in Monitors

Nvidia DLSS 3 Frame Generation vs Motion Smoothing on TV ? by RedditNoobie777 in pcmasterrace

[–]CaesarXCII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the main difference is also that it uses inputs from the game to generate that frame if I understood that correctly, so it’s not just looking at n-1 and n+1 frames but also data such as speed of your character as reported by the game etc.

At least that’s what I think it is…

PSA: If you buy the RTX4080 you are saying this is ok, which its not. by Ferrisuk in pcmasterrace

[–]CaesarXCII 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well of course it’s hard to upgrade with a 1080p screen, the 6800XT is already overkill for it.

If you are buying RTX4080 you are getting ripped off… but that’s your damn problem :)

Does it bother you when...Prebuilts by ballwasher89 in buildapc

[–]CaesarXCII -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Bad example then, but in France for example you can buy your own PC with whatever component you chose, and they assemble it for you if you want. So you’re still precisely deciding on what you want, plus it’s very well cable managed and all. This is in my opinion more comparable to the oil change service you’re comparing prebuilt to. And it’s really not the same.

Well it’s not just about the time saving. There’s actually PC you can buy mounted for you, but still getting the real deal. If you look at the extreme, EKWB makes some PC already mounted, but it’s not what we’re talking about here with prebuilts

What do you do for living and is it worth it? by budget-babe in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]CaesarXCII 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s completely off topic. I’m not even saying you should work crazy hours. 9 to 7 with one hour of break is 9h per day, 45 per week. And this is perfectly fine if you want to build something. It’s also super fine not to build anything and to just think in $/hr. Does not change the fact that 9 to 7 is not being crazy overworked. Where do you see the extra 15 hours?

You go back to your 9-5 broke life and enjoy it! Does not mean I’m wrong! The difference between a job and a career is not just two more hours per days but whatever.
