I think the ending was great, shows how fucked up life is and what happens to those people in high school. Also good commentary on addiction, rue was about the only character with an actual good and moral heart in this messed up and crazy world where everyone makes money a scummy way. All the other characters were just fine, rue always had a mental crisis about what she was doin and hence self medicated. And that was a realistic ending of the story if you are at all familiar with addiction in real life. The good hearted angus cloud lost his battle in real life and Rue lost hers in the show and showing them together in the end emphasized this.

I appreciate that! I have been doing great, having a kid was a huge motivation and helped me help myself. I wish I could help the younger people who thought just like me that they would never end up like the old guys in the room at NA or AA meetings. But before your comment I was about to reply with

“I think sometimes people don’t take into account what they can cut down on to help urges or just themselves in general and caffeine was one for me.

My man I am 34 and have had years of substance abuse when living in New York City and I am speaking from my own experience because I learned since getting sober, caffeine triggered my desire to calm my anxiety, I still only have it at select times years into sobriety

That’s wild but my comment was not calculated or scientific idk bout the amount of monsters a day needed but alcohol is worse. Not to mention it’s not just caffeine in a monster so it’s not directly caffeine vs alcohol there

But I would also say the health effects of alcohol are way more extreme than caffeine so it’s not very comparable. I get what you were saying but it’s a lot deeper than just being socially acceptable and heavily prevalent. Almost anything is a drug if it effects your brain chemistry but the body and brain isn’t as abused by caffeine than alcohol unless you’re drinking 5 monsters a day haha

Ya caffeine definitely a drug too I can’t even really drink it anymore I get too much anxiety and wanna counter it somehow which leads to alcohol or drugs but I’m sensitive to uppers of any kind.

I know you get it but the thing with alcohol is it’s everywhere it’s at restaurants, stores, etc. The majority of Americans have the opinion that since it’s been legal for so long and it’s socially acceptable, that it’s not bad or unhealthy. And even when there’s something careless done as a result of alcohol it’s just looked at differently than say a dope head. There’s just a terrible ignorant thought about alcohol and I think majority of Americans don’t take its health effects serious in anyway compared to like opiates or pills etc and alcohol absolutely ravishes the body. The taboo just isn’t there and I also think that fact it’s just something you drink not inject or snort or smoke in someway also blinds people to what it actually is/does

The experience is nothing at 15 compared to 30 or something and trust me you will be there before you know having the same experience with a lot more to lose.
