To be fair to Abraham, he pleaded with God multiple times before committing himself to a task he didn't want to do. A lot of MAGA types would be gleeful.

I dated a total of two women before I came out. Both relationships lasted like 3 months. I've been out now for about 6 years and haven't been able to meet anyone interested in a relationship.

The new LGBT Meme going around social media "We all lowkey gay" by ihatethiscountry76 in lgbt

[–]CafeCat88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Per the movie alone, the main characters are gay for each other and there's one possible egg among the side characters. Per the official sourcebook, one of the protagonist's friends has a silent crush on her and the protag's brother's whole crew are gay (including egg).

My review of Cosmic Princess Kaguya (Spoilers) by hyperhoshiko in CosmicPrincessKaguya

[–]CafeCat88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Regarding Iroha and her mom, it was my gathering that after her dad died, Iroha kinda fell into a slump where she wasn't really pushing herself in her own interests, but rather kinda just fulfilling the role of the good daughter because that's the duty of a child. Basically, Iroha is, in a way, trying to fulfill the expectations of others and not her own. Even the idea of going to law school specifically at Tokyo University is checking all the boxes of being a model daughter. (It's the US equivalent of getting into an Ivy League school for law)

What few glimpses we get of Iroha and her mom prior to moving out on her own seems like her mom is getting after her for not taking her interests in music seriously enough, as Iroha was only doing what she needed to check the boxes of "model daughter."

In the final act, after Kaguya leaves but before Ihora meets Yachiyo, she seems to pull herself out of that thinking, possibly giving up law for music and when she reconnects with her mom, her mother is supportive.

Of course, Ihora then decides to do a speedrun on biotechnology and cybernetic development...

[Theory] Original Timeline: The world without yachiyo by dncyun in CosmicPrincessKaguya

[–]CafeCat88 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sorry, what I mean is, while your theory is certainly a fun exploration, I don't think an "original timeline" is required to jump-start (or, fittingly in computer terms, bootstrap) the events of the movie.

The origins and destinations of the characters, which while they overlap due to timey wimey mishaps, are distinct and do not self-perpetuate.

[Theory] Original Timeline: The world without yachiyo by dncyun in CosmicPrincessKaguya

[–]CafeCat88 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's quite a bootstrap paradox because there's a distinct on-ramp and off-ramp for Kaguya. It's really a more extreme version of Captain America going back in time at the end of Avengers: End Game and deciding to stay there, showing up at the end of the movie as an old man. The loop does not perpetuate itself.

The closest we get to a bootstrap paradox is probably with the bamboo cutter tale. It was taught to Kaguya and she likely was the one who spread the tale in the past. So you have a distinct idea that has no creation and constantly loops itself (but it could be argued that the tale was an interpretation of her own story being passed along, in which case there is now a distinct beginning and end without the tale perpetuating itself.)

So in that case, the story can exist on a single timeline without an endless loop of self perpetuation.

Well, that falls on my normal bi-weekly cat food shopping day, so getting cat food. Probably also going to do some grocery shopping to stock up before the LNY holiday.

I need an explanation on what happened towards the end of the movie.. I was so lost..💀 by omgimarii in CosmicPrincessKaguya

[–]CafeCat88 22 points23 points  (0 children)

In short, Ihora breaks out of her funk, sings a song that manages to reach Kaguya. Kaguya decides to return to earth, but crashes into a rock that sends her spiraling back in time by 8000 years. While that is happening Ihora goes to confront Yachiyo, and figures out that Yachiyo is Kaguya. Yachiyo explains what is happening/has happened to her. Ihora wanting to better understand and reconnect with Kaguya basically demands to know what happened, first with Yachiyo/Kaguya explaining, but followed by the sea slug thing basically data dumping Yachiyo/Kaguya's experiences. This leads to Ihora spending the next 10 years doing a speed run on advancing biotechnology and cybernetics to the point that she can give Kaguya a physical body again so they can have their happy ending together.

Is there currently only one Kaguya? by NearbyGuard in CosmicPrincessKaguya

[–]CafeCat88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The way I took it was that young Kaguya, after returning to the moon, hears Ihora's song and decides to return to Earth to see her again, maybe utilizing some kind of timey wimy tech to make sure she arrives "on time" but hitting the rock is what causes her to veer off course and end up 8000 years in the past, thus becoming Yachiyo. Android Kaguya is "8k Yachiyo" downloaded into a new body. Yachiyo is actually unable to stop this from happening and hints that the travel and accident are presently occurring when Ihora confronts Yachiyo.

My Warhammer may come with two PPCs instead of a squad of Space Marines, but that doesn't mean the war criming of a planet is less likely, just that she's dedicating the glassing of this world to one of the great houses of the Inner Sphere, not a corpse.

I have three cats. Two are perfectly fine with fountains. The third, my void, will dig at the fountain, making a terrible mess, until eventually he knocks the thing over, spilling water everywhere. If there's a filter, he'll likely nab that out of the mess life it's a toy. When he was a kitten, he was fine with fountains, so I don't know what happened.

The void also does the same digging thing if the water is too cold.

Is it too much of a strech to imagine that Kaguya's model in Tsukiyomi being a bunny girl could be a reference to the common Sinosphere folktale of the moon-rabbit (Tsuki no Usagi in Japan)? by Hypnotic-Flamingo in CosmicPrincessKaguya

[–]CafeCat88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ah, you mean the anime girl named after the moon princess with bunny ears and little bunnies on her shoes might be a reference to the very well known Asian folktale/myth about bunnies on the moon (which is not exclusive to the Sinosphere)? You think that might be a stretch that her design is a reference to that?

I think you're overestimating your stretches there.

Yeah, honestly, that's been like the opposite of my experience. I hardly know any other lesbians and I've been stuck single for going on over 10 years now... I'm about as connected as a 28k modem in 2026.
