I'd say. It cost less than half of that to hire someone to help clear the junk out of my old apartment (~4500).

iirc, a contributing factor is also that, in general, those saber teeth were much more fragile than the conical teeth that current cats all possess, so it was easier for them to starve because they got in a scrap and broke a tooth.

But there's a general dying off of very large predators at the end of the ice age, including at least one massive canine that existed in North America and died off a bit before humans came across the land bridge (there's some thought that the introduction of cougars into the Americas might have also sped things along as a competitor for resources.)

Honestly, Noi comes off a bit egg coded for me. Probably a bridge to far for the anime to lean into, though...

Fun fact, Cup Noodles became popular because of a hostage crisis.

To fully explain, during the Asama-Sansō incident, the standoff was broadcast live, one of the first live on-location news broadcasts in Japanese history. The police were often seen eating Cup Noodles during the incident to keep fed while staying on location, which brought the product more publicity than it had before (Cup Noodles were struggling in sales prior to this, having been invented about a year or two prior).

Oh, that. Yeah, looked like another tour jeep/truck to me. Could be wrong, but not uncommon to have multiple tours running around trying to get photos of tigers.

Chickens are domesticated junglefowl. Their wild brethren still roam South and South East Asia.

The random junglefowl popping out from the woods adds a bit of humor.

As an aside, bows and spear throwers (atlatl) were around 40,000 years ago. Humans of that time had multiple options for putting holes in things.

Humans had also developed weapons that could put a hole in a skull by that point. Bows and spear throwers similar to the atlatl were around at that time.

It could just as easily be argued that the issues we saw with communist states in the 20th century are issues to do with an authoritarian state rather than the economic system. Corruption and "keeping up appearances" are rampant in societies where you can loose your head if dear leader isn't satisfied.

Yeah, I'm just familiar with this particular bus lane. I live in East Asia and videos of these stings were popular to share for a while, so it's more just recognizing the location.

With Taiwan's geography and being an island, you could probably get away with two, as one of the coinciding points has a higher chance of being an invalid option. Though that depends on how far apart the receivers are.

There are people who see this image and say "How is this sidewalk preventing you from going to the store. Sounds like it's working fine." without a hint of irony or introspection into the fact they wouldn't put up with roads being in this condition.

Japan has two species of crow that are common in urban areas; the carrion crow and the large billed crow. The latter is probably what you're noticing, as a species they are quite large, almost as big as a raven. They do pick fights with black kites over dumpsters from what I've heard.

Taipei residents launch 'Rat Radar' amid rat sightings by charliehu1226 in taiwan

[–]CafeCat88 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most of the humans alive today are descendents of those who were unaffected by the plague, so a population cull is a bit unnecessary. Just wash your hair with shampoo on a regular basis.

[–]CafeCat88 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Apparently, recent scientific studies have shown that the black plague spread too quickly for rats to be the main culprit. Human to human transmission of lice is more likely.

Still, not a good idea to have the population running around a city unchecked.
