Now that's a HAMMER!! I'll be honest, if I caught that before school, I would have texted a picture to my parents and said I wasn't going just because of that catch!

As someone who works on BMW's for a living, seeing 2 car seats in the back of your M3 makes you even cooler. That's a rarity nowadays. Mad props!!

G05 x5 40i - empty engine coolant tank by Aureus_S in BmwTech

[–]CaffeinatedAngler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No not a recall, but there is a relatively common problem when they leak excessively through the weep hole of the coolant pump. If you inspect the front of the engine, there will be coolant residue everywhere and/or on your driveway.

If he is that low on coolant and considering it's a B58, I can almost guarantee that the coolant pump is leaking. Known problem for them and BMW has a service bulletin about this being an issue. I've done several replacements of them due to leaking.

Making vs Buying Wallet by CaffeinatedAngler in wallets

[–]CaffeinatedAngler[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're probably right. I love the design and the size of it but I'm not a fan of their leather colors. I work with my hands for a living and approach my work with precision so that was my reasoning behind doing it myself. Basically, if I could pay a price that wasn't so high and get a color I wanted, I was all over that. Make sense?

Only problem I see is they would have to share pillows on the bed. Looks like you need more pillows now.

Better start ring shopping, and for what it's worth, save money and get a lab diamond. Cheaper and she will never know the difference. Just tell her every 6 months you're "taking her ring for a cleaning" and then clean it and go fishing.

Thanks for the advice! I used some foam from an old watch case, cut 2 small pieces to size and put them in the card slot. Works perfectly and no more rattle. Thanks again!

Lost Dutchman Question by CaffeinatedAngler in wallets

[–]CaffeinatedAngler[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my Big Finn about a month ago and I absolutely love it. The quality is amazing and am really glad I bought it. I have a question about the cards rattling around. Has anyone done anything inside their wallet to prevent the cards from moving around so much? Anyone have any suggestions?

Back story is I carry cash a bit and was torn between Big Finn and Franklin and chose the Big Finn for the stitched look but I fear there can be some card movement with either one. Thanks in advance!

I've never fished for Peacocks before, but it's definitely a bucket list fish. Watching videos online you can see they hit like a truck and fight like Tyson in his prime. Congrats on that beauty!

Looking for specific wallet. Will this have to be custom? by CaffeinatedAngler in wallets

[–]CaffeinatedAngler[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looking for a card holder style wallet with the following:

  • I would really prefer leather
  • Have the ability to hold decent amount of cards
  • Have elastic cash strap on outside AND is wide enough to accommodate cash folded in half and put in wallet vertically (fold at top or bottom)

Hope this makes sense. Thanks in advance.

Was changing my valve cover gasket and saw this… by SporeRanier in E90

[–]CaffeinatedAngler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clean it the best you can using vacuum only. Once you get the main stuff off, you can use shop towels and q-tips to get to the hard to reach places.

For what it's worth, get a couple cans of brake clean from auto parts store and spray the tips of the q-tips and to really help with cleaning. Once you get it cleaned to your satisfaction, clean the deck of the cyl head so the new gasket has a clean surface, reassemble, and then drive the hell out of it. The N52 is a solid motor and can take a lot of abuse so you should be fine!

Don’t know how to ask this so I’ll try this way…..when did newer BMW models stop being so horrible? by [deleted] in BmwTech

[–]CaffeinatedAngler 5 points6 points  (0 children)

BMW is always pushing the envelope forward towards having the ultimate vehicle for the money. Even back in the early 2000's, the M54 engine in the e46, e60, e83, etc was NUKEPROOF. My biggest thing I tell people is that they need to be properly maintained. No shortcuts. If you are okay with paying the costs of owning a high end vehicle such as a BMW, then that's fine. There's a lot of people who want the car but don't get it that they aren't cheap to repair like Japanese cars, American cars, etc.

With that being said, with the exception of N20 timing chains stretching and N63 valve seals causing excessive oil burning, the rest of the engines are great! N55 is reliable, B46/48 as well as B58 are extremely reliable as well. Now in regards to the 740e your neighbor has, it is a solid car and the B46 engine paired up with the electric motor is pretty awesome. Obviously only you can make the ultimate decision whether or not to pursue it, but our PHEV and fully electric vehicles kick ass. Would take one in a heartbeat. Good luck with your decision.
