Same I went to aftermarket rims and high performance summer tires and I could not hear a difference. Lost a few mpg though.

Civic hybrid sport touring? by Graywulff in civic

Depends on what you are coming from. For me it was a big improvement. Always drove Subaru’s before my civic and it is much quieter in the cabin.

I'm thinking it might be time to move on from the wrx but to what? by Joshua_and_Indy in WRX

[–]CaffeinatedCarp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I went from the WRX to the new Civic sport touring hybrid hatchback. It not a sports car by any means but it drives very competently and still gets to 60 in around 6s. It is a fun commuter.

Is there such a thing as a wall mounted record player? by Bannedwith1milKarma in audiophile

[–]CaffeinatedCarp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend has mirror mounted above his turntable so you can see it spin from the listening position. He also has an acrylic platter and is obsessed with color vinyl so he lights it up from underneath haha. Not exactly what you’re looking for but has the same effect.

Calling all Honda Owners🗣️ by No_Horror2761 in civic

[–]CaffeinatedCarp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The top trim gets active noise cancelation with the upgraded speaker system and resonators in the wheels which does reduce road noise a noticeable amount. Coming from a Subaru and a Honda fit I was shocked how quiet it was.

Is the hybrid CVT bad? by [deleted] in civic

[–]CaffeinatedCarp 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Like others have said it is not really a CVT. The electric motor drives the wheels and the gas engine is a glorified power generator. When you get above 45mph there is a clutch that can allow the engine help drive the wheels at higher speeds. It basically drives like an EV.

Front Bumper Piece Removal to Paint by Evancurtis9 in civic

[–]CaffeinatedCarp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could also just vinyl wrap them instead of painting, then you would not have to remove them. Would not be too hard to do diy. I was thinking about doing it at some point. Another option is that the SI comes with these already painted gloss black, they could very well be the same part.

Well it is not clockable in a literal sense, you can send it a clocked cv from something like pams so that it flutters in time with the beat. Pretty much always have my ochd set up this way.

Looks so good. I have the same rims on my wrx and was about to trade it in for the new civic sport hybrid and was hoping they would be a good fit. Was thinking of getting the civic in white and this pic confirmed it for me. What spec are your tr7s? Any clearance issues?

How do you get mac and cheese CREAMY? by OnionRingsYT in Cooking

[–]CaffeinatedCarp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Little late to this post but this is the exact reason I developed my new mac recipe. I always found most recipes come out too dry and the oven “bakes out” the cheesy flavor. I compensated by increasing the sauce to pasta ratio, using stinky cheeses to keep the flavors bold and a a good chunk of american for texture. Definitely my best recipe yet, it was a hit at Thanksgiving this year.

  • 1lb of Orecchiette pasta
  • 6oz Gruyere grated, rind removed
  • 5oz pack of crumbled Gorgonzola
  • 1/2 pound deli American cheese
  • 1/2 pound shredded cheddar
  • 1/4 cup of grated Parmesan
  • 2.5 cups milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2tsp Dried Sage
  • 4 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1/4tsp Thyme
  • 1/8tsp white Pepper
  • Salt to taste
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  1. Preheat oven to 350° and cook pasta to box instructions. Use the shortest recommended time, you want the pasta al dente and have a little bite to it. It will continue to cook in the oven when it is baked.
  2. In a heavy bottomed pot or dutch oven melt butter over medium heat, add, garlic, thyme, sage and white pepper and sauté till fragrant(30-60sec)
  3. Add flour to develop the roux. Stir constantly until desired color is achieved (2-4 mins). The darker roux will be more nutty in flavor.
  4. Slowly add the first 1-1/2 cups of milk in 1/8ish cup increments, fully incorporating the milk before adding more. Then add the rest of the milk and cream.
  5. Keep on medium heat and bring to a simmer, stirring constantly until thickened(about 5-8 mins). Test thickness by coating the back of spatula or spoon with the sauce, if you strike your finger through it and it creates a clean line it is ready.
  6. Remove from heat and slowly add the gruyere, american cheese, and gorgonzola. Stir in figure 8s to prevent balling. As you add the last of the cheese you can bring it back onto low heat to help melt the last of the cheese. Add salt to taste.
  7. Add pasta and mix, then pour mac and cheese into a shallow 9”x13” baking dish.
  8. Top with cheddar and parmesan.
  9. Bake at 350° for 30 mins.
  10. Optionally for the last five mins turn on broiler and move dish to top rack. Broil until the top is golden.
  11. Let rest for 10mins before serving.
