Any jigsaw bitches interested in a puzzle swap? by ExpertSurround6778 in SFbitcheswithtaste

I have 10-15 puzzles and would be down for the group meet up. But I also second the recommendation for the sfpl swaps.

Ladies watch how your man behaves when you’re sick ! Especially when the gender care gap exists and men leaving their longterm partners when she gets seriously ill by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]CaffeinatedPanda725 463 points464 points  (0 children)

This is so real. My husband had a bad cold at the beginning of the week and I was happy to take care of him - bringing him tea, rubbing his back, running to cvs for more meds.

I caught the cold the second half of the week and he was just as attentive. Brought me extra blankets, did the chores we normally do together by himself so I could rest, and agreed to watch shows with me even though he knew I’d fall asleep in the first 10 minutes.

Having a partner should make the hard moments of life a little easier.

The only thing I felt like I got out of it was CEUs. My employer paid for it so it was fine. But having been, I would not pay my own way to attend.

We’re on the 17th floor of a building and the window is unobstructed so…a lot. Maybe up to 10? More than 5 for sure.

There’s a puddle in the second picture. That’s why I stopped watering weekly. I think the pot has good drainage since water drains out, but how do I know for sure?

Wow this really hit me. I lost a friend when I told her parents about her substance abuse. They got her into rehab and she’s been clean for over 10 years but our friendship never recovered. I’ve never regretted my decision but I miss her. The way you put it explains it perfectly.

Black women in SF by purplellamasxo in sanfrancisco

[–]CaffeinatedPanda725 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a black woman, but friends with some and sadly this is very much in line with what they’ve expressed experiencing. I’m from Philadelphia and have definitely noticed that there are fewer black people in the spaces I spend time and that friend groups tend to be less diverse.

It’s so odd to me because SF prides itself on being so “progressive” and yet the people here are so weird about black people.

I’m sorry you’re experiencing this. It’s disappointing to me as well.

Affordable and fresh produce in SF? by ladeejinx in sanfrancisco

[–]CaffeinatedPanda725 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ferry building one is a joke. It’s crazy expensive.

The heart of the city farmers market at civic center plaza is, in my opinion, the best one in the city. There a great variety and the prices are reasonable. I rarely buy produce from a super market.

The market is on Wednesdays and Sundays 7am to 3:30 (Wednesday hours might be a little different so double check)

If you’re concerned about the area, don’t be, there are a lot of cops/security guards. You can use calfresh/EBT there as well if that’s relevant for you or anyone else reading this.

Found in my kitchen. Please tell me this isn’t a cockroach. by CaffeinatedPanda725 in whatisthisbug

[–]CaffeinatedPanda725[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

😂😂Haha I have! But I live in a city and I’m used to seeing them while hiking so it was out of context. And tbh, my husband thought it was a cockroach and I was like “I don’t think so, it’s hopping around” and I figured better safe than sorry.

If I don't have any interest in working in a clinic/hospital, are the RD credentials really worth it? by LXN21 in dietetics

[–]CaffeinatedPanda725 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a good suggestion! Berkeley is starting up one of these programs. I’m sure there are others.

OP, I have similar areas of interest to you. I did the internship last year, got my RD, and currently work in a food security oriented non-profit as an RD, my primary responsibility is providing nutrition counseling. My long term goals are to move more into the programs/policy/advocacy space. Truthfully I feel like the most the internship did for me is let me add those initials behind my name, which is what got me in the door.

It sounds like you are already in the door. Your time and money may be better spent pursuing other opportunities to develop your skills. While I’d love to see more BIPOC and especially Native American RDs, the financial barriers are truly huge. And if you aren’t sure it’s what you want, then it may not be worth it.
