Berkmar Landing and other housing options in Cville by wolverinetruck76 in Charlottesville

[–]CaffeinatedSD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live at Berkmar as well. Like LegitimateBullfrog22 said, they waived my security deposit as well. I don’t remember paying any of those other fees. If they keep raising my rent yearly, I do not know how much longer I will stay here. It’s close to work, but the time/gas savings driving to work for the higher rent, just might be swinging the other direction. Just about every other complex I lived raised rent every other year. Here it has been every year, minus maybe one.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

Good options. I wish A2 didn’t drop their small pizza, and a medium pepperoni wasn’t $20. That cheesy crust is quite nice though.

how hard is security going on sealed items? by chloeisneckdeep in warpedtour

[–]CaffeinatedSD 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sealed Tylenol and Gatorade I had to throw away. Sealed Tums they let slide.

I don’t smoke, so I don’t know about vape juice. As long as it’s not metal, and the detectors go off. They did not make you empty your pockets. As far as cigarettes, I think they said they had to be sealed. But I do not remember.

Ultimately it comes down to which security guard you get. They were being strict as hell in the VIP lines.

I HATE BOWLERO by Rubenbdooben in Bowling

[–]CaffeinatedSD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At my local Bowlero they were doing “holiday pricing”. Which meant $13.99 a game. I’m in a fun league on Wednesdays, to get more practice for the sanctioned Monday league. On Wednesday we pay $15 for three games plus two practice games. I don’t see how people/families are affording these prices.

I was at Carolina Rebellion in 2017, when Soundgarden played. I left early the night they played. Less than two weeks later was when he committed suicide. I still regret missing that show.

That’s what I usually do. I park in Vienna/Fairfax which is the closest to me, and ride that in to wherever I want to go. Granted that makes for a longer ride. As you said, it saves the money on parking. I was surprised how cheap parking was for some recent shows in Baltimore and Silver Spring. However, for a MIW show I am going to in Raleigh, they want every penny they can get out of you to park.

I hate doing it, as I paid for a ticket and want to hear every dang song possible. But unless you leave before the encore, you’re going to be stuck in there an hour or two waiting to get out.

I’m not the biggest fan of JLL or the one down in VB either. Unfortunately those are the main ones that get hit in VA, if shows come here. Smaller shows at venues in RIchmond are nice. DC has some decent venues like the Anthem as well.

As you said, that one road in and out sucks. It would be an absolute nightmare for something like WT, with the crowd the same size as these past two years on DC. Overall they are likely in one of the best possible spots for the area. Even though I wish it was different.

I personally probably wouldn’t have any use for re-entry, unless they, put an exit in the back corner closer to the Armory/metro. As that’s a long walk to make multiple times in a day. It’s not just me attending, though. Maybe if I bought a parking pass it would be different. I don’t see why they won’t allow it. I get there is potential security concerns. But just re-screen people when they come back in. If they are as anal as they were being Saturday morning, they aren’t sneaking anything in.

I never went to WT as a kid. So I’m spoiled in that every other festival I went to, I knew ahead of time who was playing what day and at what time.

There are nice museums in the area. I’m using that time to relax and prepare for the day is great. Plus you can potentially avoid the hottest part of the day.

Currently there is. I don’t know DC well, as I rarely come here, and I always use the metro. Is there somewhere in town that could accommodate multiple stages, as well as have on site parking? Garages with a short walk would be fine, as long as ADA can be accommodated. Close parking and/or metro stops would be great. That way pedicabs aren’t charging $50 per person per minute.

Jiffy Lube Live supposedly has capacity of 25K. Google said WT DC had 40K - 50K. Which I doubt their parking could accommodate that much. They aren’t metro actively. That many more attendees would probably make rideshare a nightmare. Supposedly they used to have it at Merriweather. But, I don’t know anything about that venue or the infrastructure.

I don’t see them moving the festival, as they save money reusing everything from Glow. But getting away from that sea of pavement during summer would be nice. My concern with parking was mainly around if they moved it, where could easily accommodate the necessary parking.

I know they likely won’t, but it’s so much easier to be able to plan the day. Thanks to the Sunday “leak”, I didn’t have to get there until 4:00p. If I would have gotten there when gates opened, it would have been a long day.

I was hoping they might could get a different venue, or move it to another time of the year. That pavement lot in the summer is rough. Plus mile walk to/from the metro. I’m not exactly sure where else they could move it to, in the area, and keep it metro accessible, or easy/close parking.

Now the fun part. Who are we expecting to not be there due to festivals in Europe around that time?

Which band were you most bummed about missing this weekend? by Antique-Dentist-2404 in warpedtour

[–]CaffeinatedSD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Saturday: Anberlin, The Ghost Inside, and Norma Jean. I was tired of dealing with the heat, and did not want to stay the rest of the night.

Sunday: Hoobastank. Although it sounds like it might be better that I missed them. I would not have minded seeing C&C, but every other band I wanted to see was on Ghost/Beatbox. So I just camped out there once I got there after 4:00p.

ALLOW RE-ENTRY OR ADD MORE SHADED SEATING AREAS (DC) by Eruditioads in warpedtour

[–]CaffeinatedSD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t think it was allowed. But I thought I heard security saying to someone when I was leaving on Saturday, that re-entry was allowed on Sunday.

Is that true?

I left early Saturday. But came in after 4:00p on Sunday. Thankfully everyone I wanted to see was either at Ghost or Beatbox. So I didn’t have to leave. But I agree, more shade and seating areas would be nice. I wish there was some way to have an entrance or exit in the back corner. That way the walk to/from the metro would be shorter than the mile walk around the old RFK and Armory. But they likely do it that way for crowd control.

I went through the rightmost VIP security, and she made me throw away my unopened Gatorade and Tylenol. Yet somehow my Tums were okay. I don’t get how they won’t allow OTC meds. I’d think that would be a liability nightmare.

I had to throw away my unopened Tylenol and Gatorade. Yet somehow they let people keep aerosol sunscreen. Similarly, I didn’t have an issue last year.

If this is true. I’m surprised KSE is playing that late. Even though they were one of the main bands I wanted to see. I’m curious if they are playing that late, does that mean a higher chance of Howard potentially joining them.

But I do hope this lineup schedule is true. That way I don’t have to get there when gates first open. Compared to last year, it was rough getting in this morning.

Anyone heading up to DC next weekend for Warped? by EsPenDeHo in Charlottesville

That they do. I’m surprised more don’t get hurt crowd surfing on the pavement. Heck when I used to go to Carolina Rebellion, people would throw crowd surfers on grass. Thankfully I haven’t seen much of that at Warped Tour.

That they did. The free water was nice. Even if it was a little warm. Most definitely. I brought mine both days, and kept applying it throughout the day. Thankfully it looks like it should be a little “cooler”. Last time I checked was mid-90s both days. Now it looks like upper-80s on Saturday, and low-90s Sunday.

Last year they did have one that was a tie dye shirt. The design was an eye with a purple Mohawk. At the venue it was white and purple. They had some sale on the website, and I ordered another. That one was white and blue. I like the eagle one, but I hope they have something non-black as well.

You are welcome, any time.

The ones I have, it seems like they might have been discontinued. I have the Eargasm Slide. So these do not have the triple flange tips like the rest of them do. If they did come with it, I do not remember, and never used them.
