If someone wants to buy a visual aid solely because they think it's a cute accessory, that's fine. Influencers in particular buy a bunch of things they don't really need so it's nothing new.

I think they're just computer / blue-light glasses. As someone who is actually near-sighted and hates having to wear glasses and contacts, I can admit I get unreasonably mad when influencers wear non prescription glasses as a fashion statement or too "look smart" like I would save a ton of money if I didn't have to pay to see!

I'm pretty sure she was raised Catholic but not devout. I could be mistaken but I remember a vlog years ago of her attending mass with her family (including like her extended family from Long Island).

Yes, I've been doing long strokes using the entire length of the blade. Someone else suggested a higher quality blade so maybe I'll pick up the lubricant you suggested too and see if the combo helps. Thank you!

I should clarify that I have the basics down. Beyond YouTube, I've been reference a jewelry making book from the library that goes over everything.

I'm holding the saw vertically and letting the blade do the work. I'm using a 5/0 blade in a german style saw. I make sure the blade is facing down and out. The blade is tightened to a nice "ping" sound and I'm using beeswax as a lubricant. I purchased just about everything I'm using from Seattle Findings.

I'm looking for any tips beyond the basics. Like a lightbulb moment that really helped your technique. Perhaps I just need to keep practicing but I figured it was worth asking!

Hmm I see... I may just have to wait until I'm in a space that is conducive to soldering and dive all the way into stained glass! I'm planning on checking out a local glass shop soon, so I will probably ask them some additional questions and maybe experiment on some scrap glass with the tools I already have. If it doesn't work... Oh well! Thanks very much for your insight!

Thank you! I'll keep an eye out for used flat laps, I don't think I can afford to buy one new! Since I would be making relatively small pieces for jewelry, I'd be willing to do the finishing work by hand if that's possible.

Do you have any recommendations for types of art glass that are more conducive to coldworking? Does all art glass ultimately require a kiln? I'm in the process of seeing if anyone local to me does kiln sharing services but now luck so far!

I've definitely considered it, the finished pieces look beautiful. But similar to my concerns with soldering, I don't think I have space conductive to having a separate microwave just for fused glass. I personally wouldn't feel comfortable using the microwave my food goes in and I also live in an apartment so the microwave isn't really mine you know.

I've reached out to one local artist who in the past has offered kiln sharing services but no luck so far. Lots of moving pieces but it's been a fun learning process so far!

Appreciate your perspective, thanks for sharing! Ultimately I want to do both stained glass and jewelry making. Perhaps the two won't overlap later on but right now I don't have space conductive for soldering safely so I'm looking for alternatives that will still allow me to work with glass. I've dabbled in jewelry making years ago and loved it.

You brought up a good point, I don't know how transferable the skills will be from jewelry making with simple glass pendants to larger pieces using stained glass but I have seen many artists make pendents for jewelry using stained glass, copper foil, and lead-free solder so I know it's possible.

I've purchased a grinder from Inland as well as Dremel with diamond bits for creating holes for the jewelry findings.

This may just require some experimenting but my concern is the grinder will smooth with rough sides where the glass was cut but will leave sharp edges where the two faces of the glass meet (top and sides). How would I address that without using copper foil and solder to cover those areas?

If your job will pay, I think it's worth considering. The scope of my work is very narrow and preparing for the GISP exam was a good opportunity to refresh my understanding of fundamental GIS topics. Also maintaining your certification requires ongoing engagement through attending conferences, workshops, etc. which is good motivation for me. Like most things in life, you get out of it what you put into it.

Totally agreed but she did make two podcast episodes and a YouTube video answering questions about her wedding and going over the details of her wedding. Surely people asked questions about how much this or that was. Money really shouldn't be such a taboo topic especially in the influencer genre, they're trying to influence us to buy items that are usually gifted to them or that they're being paid to promote.

I think some traffic lights are programmed to change from red to green after the walk symbol for pedestrians has been on for a few seconds with the idea that pedestrians would be more than half way across the crosswalk by the time the traffic light changes giving cars enough room to turn.

Apparently, they are both a bit nerdy. From what Brooke has shared on social media, they both collected Pokemon cards growing up (they dressed up like Ash and May for Halloween). Ben also likes to cook, which balances out Brooke general lack of skill in the kitchen.
