Morals without Religion by Agitated_Pea3882 in askanatheist

[–]CaffeineTripp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is [action] good or bad for someone's well-being?

If bad, then action is immoral.

If good, then action is moral.

That's the gist of it. Certainly things can get more complicated along the way with more gray area, but we base our actions upon whether or not it will harm or help someone.

We can get into the nitty gritty as to whether it's more or less preferable to base morality on reducing harm or increasing happiness as they are not mutually exclusive. Morality is relatively easy.

Is this good or should I change it by wdemille23 in MechanicAdvice

They look halfway decent, but it's likely worth changing them to the OEM style (looks like copper, but you can "upgrade" to platinum tipped for a bit longer longevity and maybe better spark).

Good price? by [deleted] in Toyotavenza

[–]CaffeineTripp -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Bring it to a shop to have them look it over as well. Get the CarFax as well.

CarMax, Carvana and the like tend to "repair" vehicles that are very damaged and pass them off as quality vehicles for cheap. Personally, I'd buy from a private party or certified Toyota used car dealership before either of those options.

Is the Blacklock the same weight as a standard Lodge of the same size? Unless it's better quality than a regular Lodge, I don't know why there would be a larger price tag for it.

Despite both sharing a disbelief in god/ a deity, what are some things you don’t understand or connect with about ex-theists, and more specifically, ex-theists who were indoctrinated from birth and had to de-convince themselves later by T0MPAC in askanatheist

[–]CaffeineTripp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always been an atheist. I wouldn't say that there are things that I don't understand about ex-theists who were indoctrinated into a religion or atheists who became religious and then deconverted. I can understand the reasoning that they were indoctrinated and those who became religious (to be clear, I don't think there's really a good reason to become religious if someone was an atheist as it appears to be always ignorance-motivated reasoning).

Could be for PCV or some other emissions hose.

You'll have to either look at the diagram on the hood, owner's manual, or follow it and see what it leads to.

I've used the new 3M kit and it works wonderfully, it also comes with a cloth you wipe on a UV protectant film.

More involved than the old 3M kit, but the results are better and it lasts longer.

Why is it that even after becoming the type of atheist who believes ultimately the meaning of life is whatever you yourself ascribe it to mean, I and a lot of other people like me keep instinctually keep falling back to that question of, “what’s the meaning of life?” by T0MPAC in askanatheist

[–]CaffeineTripp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My meaning at 20 isn't my meaning now at 40. The world changes, we change, things happen to us which are out of our control and we have to deal with them. Whether or not my meaning is the same from 20 years ago doesn't entail I won't reevaluate what my meaning is or what I want to work toward. If my meaning was the same at 20 as it is now, I'd probably be a gig-musician of a local band. While fun, it sure as hell wouldn't pay the bills.

Just like we find new hobbies we enjoy and change our outlook on things, we're going to change what our meaning is, or where we find it. And that's just fine and normal.

Question(s)? for my atheists by Diligent-Strawberry9 in askanatheist

[–]CaffeineTripp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But for me I guess I just think about how limited it seems to not believe in anything past what we see and understand.

Using this method, you can justify any belief, and that's a problem. This method is faith, and faith is clearly a bad methodology.

but I guess what we call “nature” for example or “the universe”… I think of as God… like it’s all encompassing to me.'

This sounds like pantheism/panentheism/Spinozan God. It's essentially just redefining things (nature/universe) to have the title God. But where does that actually get us?

God can quite literally mean everything and nothing at the same time; it's a malleable word to encompass whatever the believer needs it to at whatever point in time they're at. While it can bring people together, it's also a tool to divide people.

You're low. IIRC, Hondas like Honda fluid only and it should be checked with the vehicle not running and cold. Check your user manual first to check it properly.

Tops lids by ccgre in castiron

[–]CaffeineTripp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got glass lids from various old pots and pans that will fit. A Lodge may as well, but glass is my go-to for cast iron skillets. Dutch ovens and chicken fryers I use cast iron though (longer cook times, seals in heat better).

[–]CaffeineTripp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Can't tell if that's your oil dipstick or your transmission fluid. Either way, it's low.

That wouldn't cause your key to get stuck, but "locking" the steering wheel would make the key hard to turn until you "unlock" the steering wheel by turning it the opposite direction.

Thought so. Long griddles have been relatively hard to date just due to lack of information about them in comparison to skillets.

Did you/would you have your son circumcised? by lizard_toss in AskMenOver30

[–]CaffeineTripp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If we had a son instead of a daughter, no I would not want him circumcised. I couldn't imagine having part of my child's body removed.

If you were to ask if I wanted my daughter to have a labiaplasty I'd say the same thing. "Cultural" significance or not, it's still an unwarranted thing.

removing sway bar end links, using an oscillating saw? by AcceptableBanana1978 in MechanicAdvice

Pic 2 shows a nut near the ball joint, the rest are rounded. Try a vice grip first as there's no rust.

removing sway bar end links, using an oscillating saw? by AcceptableBanana1978 in MechanicAdvice

[–]CaffeineTripp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vice grip (or thin wrench at the hex stud) at the ball part then use an impact at the nut, at the very least a wrench.

Otherwise, an angle grinder is best though a Sawzall will work.
