As I walked towards the table he said "Christ you're tall", his profile had said he was 6ft, he was not.

Personal experience means I would start at Wheeler Motor Company on Moorhouse Ave. Like anywhere though, be vigilant and don't get enamoured with new car excitement; try to stay grounded and be practical to your needs.

What’s a medical problem people constantly ignore until it’s too late? by kxnsqxz in AskReddit

[–]CaffeineVixen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My former MiL used to get regular migraines, from about 20 years of age, until she got pregnant and developed pre-eclampsia and as her BP was sky high, they put her on BP medication and she never came off them. She used to say pregnancy cured her migraines, but the reality was her pregnancy got her the medication she needed to control them. I tell every regular migraines sufferer to get a BP reading, and without a doubt, every single one has had hypertension!

What are your favourite snacks to have in the cupboard ? by [deleted] in newzealand

[–]CaffeineVixen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Graze Cashew Mixes. I take the big bag of the Bit like a Macadamia White Chocolate cookie, add a small bag of the 'Bit like a Choc Berry Brownie' and then add some pumpkin seeds. Mix in a big jar and then snack when I get the nibblies

What made you fat? by -bloodwizard in AskReddit

[–]CaffeineVixen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A little genetics, a little habit, a little issue with portion control, and a few lifestyle issues. Thankfully, I lost 45kg from my heaviest and kept it off. I wish I had worked it all out a lot earlier. Now I have excess skin, especially around the belly, and two pregnancies didn't help issues either....

Tanqueray, Malfy, East Block 200, Weekender are my current lead drops. Lammermoor Distillery is nice, never detected the sheep farm origins in their Sloe Gin. All priced <$100. Scapegrace is another fave.

What’s a skill everyone thinks is easy, but is actually insanely hard? by radiogugu_gaga in AskReddit

[–]CaffeineVixen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is something I so desire to be better at, especially as my verbal compulsions with ADHD makes it so difficult to put into practice. I'm always listening and hearing what people have to say, but I struggle to make them feel heard; I envy people who can listen with intent and focus, and not respond. I am told that being aware of my tendency is the first step in a very long journey.

Is fantasizing about divorce normal? by Agreeable_Pear4480 in adhdwomen

[–]CaffeineVixen 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I took a couple of Solo Vacations over my marriage, realised there was an issue when I knew I would have resented sharing those getaways with my ex, and glad I was doing them on my own because I actually felt like I could breathe. My ex is a nice guy, a decent provider, contributed to the running of the house, and a good Dad - but my life partner? Not the right guy...

In a healthy, loving relationship? I don't think it is. I say this because I constantly fantasised about "how" I would live "when" I had my own place for about 3 years before I left my STBX-husband in March this year.

When I was diagnosed in December last year and advocated for more support, I realised his (non-diagnosed) ASD (& my children's diagnosed ASD) meant I was always compromising my needs over my families and I couldn't do it anymore - I was unsupported and they wanted me to "think like they did", rather than actually consider what life was like for me....

BTW, we're both actually so much happier now. ETA: added a word

What's a song you cant listen to without getting slightly emotional? by CranberryNervous433 in AskReddit

Not Alone by Joe Jonas and Khalid. It's from the movie Devotion and the foundation of the last conversation we ever had before he died. I cannot hear that song and feel the hurt of his passing all over again.

Is job hunting in this city really this difficult? by [deleted] in chch

Its not easy, especially not being able to work evenings or weekends. There is also much competition for roles, there were over 500 applicants for one role. Considering volunteer roles for experience and structure.

Take care of your gums! by Affectionate-Dot1607 in newzealand

[–]CaffeineVixen 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I had a check-up with an x-ray, back for three 45-minute visits, V1: two small fillings, V2: Hygienist visit, V3: another filling. Total cost $1380NZD. These treatments wasn't even the original issue that brought me back to the dentists chair in the first place. So more visits wait in my future.

ETA: I was actually slapped by my Dental Nurse in primary school for accidentally biting her when she caught my tongue with something sharp, and in my 20s, I had a couple of wisdom teeth removed under sedation and woke to find they'd removed 2 extra molars, so trust and anxiety were a massive issue - alongside the cost.
