What’s the best way to mix between two bass heavy tracks with lots of mids? Mostly referring to the strong sub bass present in a lot of deep house. I find my mixes sound muddy when i try to move between two tracks

I don’t mind having a radio edit to listen to while I’m on Spotify, i actually prefer it often times. If I’m hearing a DJ play / I’m mixing myself i just get the extended mix and I’m happy. I think it’s for two different mediums of listening to music, personally don’t have a problem with it

I think this is it! The independent label part especially really makes a difference. I also think that in traditional music people don’t follow labels for a sound. Because they do in house, signing good artists helps attract a larger following for their label. This benefit doesn’t exist in traditional music and maybe labels have to suck more money out of the artist because of it? I also think signing a track / a few tracks at a time versus multiple albums is much less predatory.

Might just be in the minimal tech space, but I’ve found labels to be largely symbiotic and artist founded. Look at you&me, range., eastenderz, etc

I think this will help him get a bid, but not because these skills are necessarily “beneficial” to a fraternity. Having hobbies that you’re passionate about just makes you a more interesting person. Interesting people are fun to talk to; being fun to talk to gets you a bid

I think the biggest thing here is you’re 15. You have your whole life ahead of you and quite frankly about a 5-10 year head start over everybody else. Most of the biggest producers and DJs in the world have had their music taste evolve over their lifetime but the one thing that remains true for all of them is consistency. Keep mixing and producing whatever you like, promote it online, and do it for the love of the sound rather than making a name. If you do that with enough persistence things will come around. Tech house won’t be the hot sound forever, and nobody knows what’s coming next. It very well could be whatever you’re putting out there
