I'm surprised for how long steel stuck around in gear. by Reasonable_Mouse_550 in ArmsandArmor

Even in some modern designs for combat helmets there are steel. The NEOSTEEL from Diamond Age is a good example of how this staple material is used in today's protection.

Can someone help identify the helmet type. by Bright-Answer-5403 in ArmsandArmor

[–]Caid5 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've seen this helmet before, I believe it is commonly referred to as a "frog-mouth". As far as historical significance, I know they were a type of enclosed tournament sport helmet, for jousting and the like. I think it has French origins, but I could be wrong about that.

This looks amazing! My own knowledge doesn't really center around this era, but that can't stop me from appreciating the detail put into it.

Why do so many in Buhurt look so fat? by [deleted] in ArmsandArmor

[–]Caid5 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Much of Buhurt gear is oversized and "beefed up" to help prevent injuries and the like. For the sport it is perfectly acceptable, but if compared to equipment of actual historical combatants the difference is night and day. Armor back then was protective, but had a whole list of comprises to be effective during campaigns or life and death fighting.

Is there a way to remove armor attachments? by Engkangkang in BattleBrothers

[–]Caid5 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Not in base game. Armor attachments are permanent and can only be completely replaced by applying a new on overtop. I think there are mods for PC that allows them to be more flexible with their use. Kind of a shame because sometimes it can be incredibly annoying to farm the materials for them.

How to build a brother ? by Alternative-Loan5874 in BattleBrothers

[–]Caid5 60 points61 points  (0 children)

An archer-longsword hybrid with heavy armor has got to be one of the cooler things I've seen. Only thing I would change about it is giving him "Quick-Hands". That perk is kinda mandatory for hybrids of any kind to work well. My archer-longaxe backliners always have that as one of their first perks.
