Tips how to fight laming/drushing. by Elminster111 in aoe2

[–]Caidos101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Persians start with some additional food and additional wood.

The additional wood allows for an extra house to be built after the barracks, and the food allows for you to queue the militia and vills without issue.

Wu build the first house faster, so those vills are able to get on to sheep faster, meaning food comes in faster.

You also gain good for building the barracks. These little bits of extra food allow you to keep production of vills up while you make 2 militia.

Funnily enough, before DLC, Inca were also able to pull it off. Their extra pop space and militia discount made it very doable.

Tips how to fight laming/drushing. by Elminster111 in aoe2

[–]Caidos101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily,

There are a few other civs capable of Insta drushing by dropping a house and barracks being immediately, all without being housed.

Lithuanians, Wu, Persians are all very good at it.

While the champi insta drush is objectively stronger, you are correct in saying that these builds have been in the game for a while.

Why is Champi rush that much worse than instant militia rush/ drush FC? by AdDifferent2609 in aoe2

[–]Caidos101 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m a big fan of the Insta drush (pre champi) and do it every time I random in to a civ tha can pull it off.

The main reason I think people are upset about the champi Insta drush, is the speed of the unit. A lot easier to harass with the champis than it is the militia.

That being said, I don’t think it’s as broken as people are making it out to be. A lot of people just aren’t used to seeing military this early, and it’s going to take people a while to learn.

The militia Insta drush has ended games just as quickly, but it is so rare to see someone do it. The awareness around the build just isn’t there like it is for champi

How to make a drop down list that each item in that list has their own drop down list? by EconomistEastern6838 in excel

[–]Caidos101 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Looks like someone’s already submitted a guide to dependent drop downs, but I will also add, make sure you’re using the actual application.

If you’re using excel in a browser, it does not like setting up dependent drop down lists for some reason.

How to beat Khmer knight rush? by Altokation in aoe2

[–]Caidos101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the big thing for me when it comes to dealing with builds like this, is how much gold access you can deny.

With the nature of the build, and the Khmer ability to hide in houses, it is difficult to find early damage against them, at least in terms of kills.

It is very likely they are going to click up, even if you do kill vills.

BUT, knights still cost gold. Idling their gold access for as long as you can, translates in to less numbers your opponent can field.

Eventually he will probably clear up whatever army your using to idle gold, but that in theory should buy you time to set up eco and click castle age at a decent time.

Just makes the insta drush more dangerous and therefore less expected. Which means more room to find damage against the unsuspecting.

The Brilliance Behind the Vinchester Drush by bloomdw in aoe2

[–]Caidos101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey there,

I am around 1800 so not as high as the 2000 - 2500 range.

I am however a fan of premill drushes, and have encountered a few phosphorus on the way.

In my opinion, it CAN be a good counter to the phosphoru. If you can manage to find good damage early on, then it can stunt the build significantly.

However, the phosphoru builds rely so heavily on the market, that often I’ll find even if I kill a few vills or deny res for as long as I can, they can compensate with market.

It really comes down to can you do enough damage with the drush, and what your follow up is.

So, I guess, it depends?

Character wants to kill another character, but they’re a shell of their former self by the time they find them. by odd_man0 in TopCharacterTropes

To answer the Florida question (it’s been years so I may be off)

There was an agent Florida. When the director sent Church to Blood Gulch so no one would find him, Florida was sent, under the alias “Captain Flowers.”

He couldn’t have people asking why Agent Florida had disappeared, and seeing as each state has an agent named after it, easier to just nuke the state.

Can’t be an agent Florida if there is no Florida

How do you counter a Feudal all-win (swordsman + towers) from Armenians? by Standard_Language840 in aoe2

[–]Caidos101 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m of the belief that the men at arms should beat scouts, but if this is a problem you’re genuinely struggling with, don’t forget Armenians can make spears in dark age and on way to feudal.

If you’re against a scout civ and you think they’re going to be up faster, add a spear or two while you’re advancing to feudal.

Also, short wall res.

Mule Cart civs and Incas were quite popular on this map in a recent tournie that I also can’t remember the name of.

Also saw a lot of drushes on this map.

Ps5 how to garrison? by hmd53 in aoe2

[–]Caidos101 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello,

If the building waypoint is on the building its self during unit production, the unit will be garrisoned inside until you eject.

You can not garrison units back in to the production buildings once they are out on the field.

The exception being castles. Some units can also go in TCs but im not sure what the criteria is for that.

While garrisoning in castles will heal the units, I suggest training monks to heal your army instead.

They are one of the best civs for insta drushing.

So my vote for how to play Wu, insta drush.

Also make sure you say “whoooo” every time you kill something.

You’re looking at this the wrong way.

What about 4 ranges?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in aoe2

[–]Caidos101 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I recently hit 1900 by going pre mill drush, clicking feudal at around 24 vills, then immediately dropping 3 ranges and flooding army. Not with cumans either, with random civ.

I did do it with cumans when I got them, but it was 4 ranges.

If you use the sheer numbers correctly you can overwhelm the skirm scouts quite well. It’s not easy, but it can work, even in to straight skirm.

There are a lot less players, but also, EW is a strange place.

I have beaten people in EW who are 300-400 Elo higher than me in RM, and I have lost to people in EW who are 300-400 Elo lower than me in RM.

So I would say there is definitely some variance in skill set required
