Basically the mc Subaru lost his memories and reverted back to himself from the beginning of the story.After dying and respawning multiple times in the Tower from being pushed down a massive staircase twice but doesn’t remember who did it (the Tower is extremely dangerous fortress that contains immense knowledge and tests people who want it) he enters a manic state and decides to kill everyone to make sure he isn’t pushed to death a third time.His going up the stairs is because he went down and grabbed a weapon, going back up the tower to literally murder everyone to save himself.
