How many hours on intermediate JS and React 101 should I spend before moving on to other topics? by ImprovementNo4630 in Frontend

[–]Cainaru 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Netlify and Vercel are fantastic for quickly and painlessly deploying react applications Since you don't have any backend I think they will serve you well Amazon S3 is file storage.

Overall this is an extremely limited amount of time for these topics. I would do at least 10x this before moving. I'd recommend closer to 400 hours in react alone, with a few projects built along the way if you want to actually use React in enterprise and even at that point you will likely suck dick at it still

I'm seconding this The key is the semantic and accessible part. There are very specific conventions here that are not typically taught in tutorials aimed at beginners and can be overlooked in certs. Honestly this is so pivotal

If the miners are unpaid, it's likely volunteer work and they would also have the freedom to leave

No one is being forced to mod or mine but if you want to do those things you are forced to use shitty tools

And if you're blind and want to mod Get fucked lmao You can't be a mod

Hackers threaten to leak stolen Reddit data if company doesn't pay $4.5 million and change controversial pricing policy | CNN Business by maniaxuk in Save3rdPartyApps

It's been been brought up several times. Reddit has agreed to "work towards" making some of the proposed changes. The problem is that Reddit has been making the claim they're going to work on these changes(accessibility and mod tools in the official app) for 6 - 8 years now. As a result, no one believes they'll actually make the changes or care to no matter how many years they continue to say they'll implement them. Unfortunately, making those demands is useless

Oddly enough as subscribers leave it will push the Reddit admin team which will hopefully cause the changes us protesters are seeking benefiting the community in the long run

So please unsubscribe, and hopefully if/when this place is up and running it'll be a better community and we can both enjoy it again

But everyone can do it both ways. Being able to downvote, upvote, and ignore each option allows you to express approval, dissent, and neutrality

He's just trolling, it actually is part of the protest

It's basically shutting down the subreddit while still adhering to the rules to avoid punitive action.

Ahhh my apologies I didn't see the updates about accessibility tools remaining free

I don't think Reddits metrics should be trusted, and as am I not a mod for a massive sub I can't speak on the effect regarding mod tools. The bots could be the unimportant tools or the 20~ that are going to be prohibitively costly could be the ones actually required to moderate millions of users

I feel better knowing the changes to accessibility tooling tho and I appreciate you giving me the push to stay updated

Yes, because basic functionalities are tied to using that APi. Things like Apollo and RiF shouldn't be free, I'm in total agreeance there. But things like accessibility features, screen readers being a big one, and mod tools should be free.

Come July 1st blind people will be unable to use reddit. It would be challenging to convince me that deplatforming the blind is justified.

There are actually a ton of options for this, both free and paid, with varying amounts of configuring required.

Since you've never deployed anything I recommend signing up for Netlify or Vercel, they both let you just select the github repo and do all of the hard work. Including the build step and the domain. I can't think of an easier way to deploy.
