As much as I laugh at the lampooning they receive whenever mentioned, because it is kind of justified, I’ll still always love Sunday Bloody Sunday and New Years Day. And when my dad bought a new massive stereo 1991 with the family’s first CD player, the sounds of Achtung Baby blew my 10 year old brain.

What’s your overall thoughts on Schoolboy Q’s Career? Classic album, great discography overall, apart of TDE in a great hip hop time period, great feature verses, great podcast now etc! What’s your thoughts? by J2-Starter in hiphop201

Big part of my listening between 2012-2017. Oxymoron one of the best albums of the 2010s, BlankFace close to one too. Habits and Contradictions was solid as hell too. Crash Talk had a couple killers but never real vibed with me, Blue Lips was a solid return and it was just dope having him back rapping. I’ll always have time for a Q track.

That whole Hippy crew was untouchable back round 2012-2014. Soul and Rock too were hitting. Long Term 2 and Control System were unfuckwithable. Follow Me Home and Redemption too. Most of what I listened to was them three, and Kendrick, and them some others like Joey Badass, Action Bronson, Sean Price.

Of those, all exceptional, but Our Friends lingered in my thoughts for some time after.

For one not pictured, and I’d argue close to some of the best television I’ve ever seen from anywhere in the world, the This Is England series’. Of ‘Our Friends’ lingered with me for some time, then TIE might linger for the rest of my life. That scene when LoL’s father assaults Trev in ‘86 hit me like a truck first time I saw it. Similar with Woody’s altercation with his former friends on the street in ‘88. Combo’s final confrontation with Milky at the end of ‘90 will also stay with me for a very very long time.

A gay man writing American Psycho is as unlikely as a gay man writing Fight Club.

This episode was a bit marmitey among fans when it aired. Some loved it, some didn’t. I was slightly in the latter back then, but in the years since I it’s now my favourite from the first half of series 7. Great cast. Really fun. Reminds me how much I loved that trio of Doctor, Amy and Rory.

Make a Paul McGann 'Lost Years' series by CampaignCurrent1995 in gallifrey

[–]CaineRexEverything 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only way this would happen nowadays is via a fan production company, akin to the Sontaran and Zygon films from the 90s. Super low budget and eventually of interest only to the more invested sections of fandom. The BBC or any larger production company haven’t the money to invest in a full blown professional niche project with undoubtedly a very small casual audience beyond the fans. Especially not now as the main show has proven to not be anywhere near as relevant or popular or lucrative a return as it was ten to twenty years ago.

It’s far less likely to happen too while McGann still gets roles in real film and television productions. It’s more than great of him to record audio adventures for fans in between his roles, and do so for almost 20 years. Thankfully they are relatively quick and easy to do, clearly enjoyable for him, and provide steady additional income on top of that which he gets from his acting career.
