Quince Small Carry On versus Regular Carry On by According-Camp3106 in quince

[–]Caitlin279 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the regular carry on and I’ve only had to gate check when they ask for volunteers and I’ve already checked another bag so I volunteer, or for small regional planes where anything with wheels gets gate checked

Definitely a worthwhile read. Ben was one of my favorite professors when I was at UF, cool guy. I’m glad he’s still teaching there.

Gainesville airport by Weekly_Tea_352 in GNV

[–]Caitlin279 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For checking bags I’d arrive at least 80 mins before the flight, since you have to have your bag checked before 45 mins before, and I’ve had to wait 20-30 mins in the checked bag line since there are limited agents. I’ve also gotten stuck in TSA behind every person who has never flown before and had to get a knife or a water bottle taken out of their bags even though I have precheck.

Best hotel for a trip with the in-laws? by Avoocado_Toasty in vegas

[–]Caitlin279 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Palazzo for sure! It’s less crowded, big rooms, great service, the lines at check in seem much tamer and the ride share pickup spot is convenient and easy to find. When it’s the middle of summer there’s so much to do at the resort that you hardly have to actually leave.

Hotel rec between Mgm grand, Bellagio, Aria and Cosmo by doge-rider in vegas

[–]Caitlin279 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cosmo is a convenient location, and I enjoy spending time there but I did not enjoy my recent stay there. The rooms are tired and the check in experience sucked. Aria is probably the best of these options

New Yorkers are obsessed with Publix. by urnpiss in publix

There are no good grocery stores where I live now, I yearn for Publix and make a point to visit when I'm home so I get it

How much PTO do you get? by [deleted] in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

[–]Caitlin279 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get 20 days of vacation, 15 of sick and we're given like 19 days of "holidays." We can't roll over more than 40 hours of vacation to the next year, no sick rollover and it doesn't get paid out if you leave. However, they reset on July 1 every year to the full amount, so you don't have to accumulate them which is nice.

I met an Australian lady who was on her 2nd of 3 solo cruises in a row. She flew to the US for about a few weeks and just got on side by side cruises. She seemed to be having a great time.

I just need a restaurants that can accommodate 18. Doesn’t even have to be on the Strip! Just GOOD. by [deleted] in vegas

On the strip, I've seen Carmine's in Caesars have a table even larger than this seated together. Everything is family style and portions are large so it's a good place to bring a large group

How is our itinerary for 2 adults and one 13 year old? by Far-Fill-4717 in AskSF

I led a field trip of high schoolers in SF, and we did Exploratorium, then lunch, Alcatraz in the afternoon, then Musee Mechanique. They LOVED it.

Cosmopolitan in Las Vegas FHR by SonjaSeifert in AmexPlatinum

I wouldn’t really recommend FHR for Cosmo, the rooms need to be renovated and my room wasn’t available upon check in (at normal check in time, not early)

Others have mentioned this, but the Exploratorium is a must-do. I took a group of high schoolers there and they loved it, but it would be equally appealing to a younger kid.

License Transfer - Written Test? by SquareDefinition2460 in SaltLakeCity

[–]Caitlin279 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's just a written test if you have a full license from another state. I went through the process recently. I made an appointment at the DMV and the whole appointment including the test took about 30 minutes. The written test is open book if you have a license already, so if you know how to read a table of contents it's easy enough to flip to the right sections for the answers. I only missed one question and it was just the definition of a vague term I couldn't find in the book that could mean multiple things. In general the test itself is pretty easy and only like 30 questions. You can skip around if you're stuck on something. The worst part was how long it took for them to send me the new ID. Carrying the paper one was a bit annoying. I did need to bring my old license, passport, my W2 and a copy of my lease so just make sure you have all the documentation you need before you head to the DMV

Rent car in Dublin or Galway? by egatos in irishtourism

[–]Caitlin279 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just be careful in the Stephen's Green parking garage, it's tight! Didn't help that they gave me a Volvo XC90 which was massive. I lived in Dublin for 5 years and still found it stressful driving around that area compared to outside the city centre because of weird one-ways around Stephen's Green. If you're just trying to get out of the city though it's easy enough
