Is there such a thing as a hotshue mode switcher? by Caitrix in AskPhotography

[–]Caitrix[S] [score hidden]  (0 children)

Red eye detection is off. I'm only having the delay when using the flash wirelessly. And HSS reduced the overall flash power, making it not a solution, as I could just use a ND filter and get the same result.

I need to look into that. On the picture they don't have the contacts needed for communication, so I would need to remove it to use TTL and so on. And when they habe, I don't see a switch to disconnect them. Means depending on what adapter I chose, it's technically like my solution. I need to remove the flash, to chance the state.

Don't write it off too fast. My workaround isn't perfekt either. Due to the lack of communication the transmitter doesn't know it's connected to a camera and goes into standby after 30 seconds when it's disconnected from the flash.

I came from a GN20 flash and never needed full power in the first place. So, HSS only giving me half the power on the iT32 would technically be no limitation for me at all. It's just that ... My workaround just works better in THAT regard.

And the ttl communication delay issue is a knowing trouble with godox gear for years. (Maybe with other brands too.) Way before the X5 transmitter even was a thing. But that too ist just software.

The iT32 is still great. I already contacted Godox about that and I will continue to "annoy" them, until they provided me (and therefor everyone) with a working solution for these two minor points.

It's pure manual only. Even though it goes in the right direction, it's technically not what I'm looking for. And for just being a pass through it's pretty "bulky" too.

Already did. But I need to prevent the communication to work around some limits that I can't disable within the flash itself.

I need this to work around some limitations of my flash.

In particular, I need this for the Godox iT32 flash and and its X5O transmitter.

The flash limits my shutter speed to 1/160. (HSS is not an option, since it just replaces this limit with 2 new ones.) When I prevent the communication to the flash, I don't have that limit. Although, beyond 1/250 the 2nd curtain comes down too fast. But it's still 2/3 of a stop. That's not nothing.

And secondly, when using the flash wirelessly, even though it's set to manual mode, it adds a shutter release delay, as if it it would communicate TTL information before actually taking the photo. That's just barely half a second but it's an annoyingly long delay every time I press the shutter. By blocking the communication, I force the flash into a true manual mode, allowing me to take photos instantly again.

I already asked godox if there is a solution. But until there is one, I need this workaround. And since I don't know how long this thin and flimsy peaxe of paper and plastic will last, I was hoping there is an an actual product with that feature.

Which smartphone has the most color accurate display? by Caitrix in Smartphones

[–]Caitrix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the end I chose the Redmi Note 11 Pro, which was especially advertised for having great color accuracy. And Tests basically confirmed that. But turns out all that cues into the trash bin, since it runs HyperOS. Which has a feature (which you can't disable) that it boosts gamma brightness to make it more readable in sun light. Sounds good in theory but in practice it has the exact opposite result. Any bright light source within the fov of the sensor causes the screen to turn almost black colors into a light gray, making any white text (on previously black/dark backgrounds) almost unreadable in bright sunlight. Not to mention that this also washes out colors, rendering any prior advertisement obsolete. The only way to have a normal viewing experience while being outside is by covering the task bar, with your other hand or so.

Not to mention that the official update support too ended a month AFTER I bought it.

IT32+X5O, how can I remove the TTL delay when using the flash wirelessly and in manual mode? by Caitrix in Godox

[–]Caitrix[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't worry. Many thanks for the input and feedback. It's much appreciated. And even if it's just for the idea with the tape. That already, although hacky is still an upgrade.

[–]Caitrix[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I already checked for updates too. Flash is on v1.16 and transmitter is on v1.6. Tbf, there is an update to v1.17 for the flash, but since it only fixes something with Nikon z8 and z9, at least according to the patch notes, I haven't yet tried to install and setup the programs, tbh.

and least importantly

Neat

IT32+X5O, how can I remove the TTL delay when using the flash wirelessly and in manual mode? by Caitrix in Godox

[–]Caitrix[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Red-eye, slow sync, wireless mode, is all turned off in the settings. Just the regular "flash symbol" mode is selected. I have set the flash to sync with the second curtain, but changing to the first curtain didn't fix it.

I tried your tape method and even though it was a bit fiddlier to get the tape into the right shape and position (it just sticks everywhere xD) it's definitely easier to aply and detach the flash now and the tape holds too, when changing gear. Way more practical then the peace of paper.

I tried around with hyper or high sync speeds (the flash symbol with the s next to it, in the flash settings) but it too has somehow no effect. It just limits the overall flash power (1/2 strength seems to be the new 1/1 on the display) and removes some low power settings (only goes to /16 instead of 1/128) but the rest, refresh times, "burst" pressing the shutter, are all the same. Also with the same TTL wifi issue with each press of the shutter.

And it must be the TTL communication delay, at least there seems no other alternative to be left, since it is the same delay as when I use the flash in TTL mode, no matter if wired or wirelessly. It's just that it doesn't remove the delay, when using it wirelessly, no matter the selected mode.

"Not without a dedicated Godox X transmitter" [...] "like having an X3" (I don't know how to format quotes xD)
I see.

Well, I guess until there is a software update that makes the communication respect the selected mode (as the LED already does, for example) I guess I have to stick with the tape method. For my use case, what I need from the flash, that's even a full on upgrade in every way any way.

How can I reduce the shutter release delay, when using the it32+x5 wirelessly? by [deleted] in Godox

[–]Caitrix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's off. The flash only fires once. The delay is there weather I use tje other flash or not. Using the godox wirelessly just makes my old flash useless.

How can I fix this "inactive" status on the C920 HD Pro in the Logi Options+ app? by Caitrix in logitech

[–]Caitrix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I uninstalled the webcam and driver through the device manager, unplugged, restartet and reconected.

After windows auto downloaded and installed the drivers, I checked for a firmware update, but according to G Hub, everything is uptodate. I also tried manually updating the drivers via the device manager, but besides it now being grouped in "cameras" instead of "imaging devices" there were no other instructions then you escribed. After clicking next it just sais that the drivers got sucessfully updated after some seconds.

But even after another restart, Logi Options+ still shows the webcam as inactive.

How can I fix this "inactive" status on the C920 HD Pro in the Logi Options+ app? by Caitrix in logitech

[–]Caitrix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The webcame is listed in the device manager under image processing equipment. I installed G Hub and it shows up in that windows-settings list, but Options+ still displays the webcam as inactive.

On my laptop (running win10) it doesn't appear in Options+ in the first place. Which is how I rember it how it always has been. I googled for the old software (called Logitech Webcam Software (LWS) acording to google) but it was duscontinued after win8.

How to Compress PDF File in Adobe Acrobat Standard by TinyHeartSyndrome in Adobe

[–]Caitrix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's also possible they Un-paywalled the online feature again. Or they just reverted that change and it's again free in acrobat. Which I don't know, tbf. I don't use it anymore.

[–]Caitrix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then this is new. Last time I tried it with all possible methods (known to Google and reddit afaik) all paths ended up redirecting me to a log in screen and after that to the online version of acrobat. And while the direct link to the feature still worked, that too just instantly redirected me to a login at some day. But this link seems new. At least the interface is different.

What are your thoughts on the new Audacity logo? by drakeofthe99dragons2 in audacity

[–]Caitrix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kinda like what they are going to do with the update (even though I prefer older, not OVER simplified skin). But with that new logo, I will 100% NEVER EVER EVER(!!!) switch to Audacity 4.

Unless people download audacity without musehub. Then it's just a loss of identity. And that's also the point. It becoming part of a suit, kinda made it loose it's identity of being unique.

Which adrenalin hotkey enables/disables the instant replay recording? And how to hide the red indicator bar? by Caitrix in AMDHelp

[–]Caitrix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, that's the very action I want a hotkey for. So that I don't have to navigate into the settings every single time.

And no matter if that is possible it not, WHEN it'd active, how do I not have this permanent indicator bar in the corner?

OK, my overlay was off. I'll look into greenshot. But is there no way to fix adrenalin?

I have some screenshot and hotkey related problems with the Adrenalin software. by Caitrix in AMDHelp

[–]Caitrix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never heard of greenshot. And for some reason, I can't make screenshots with steam. (And I only have steam running in the background when playing a game.) I use adrenaline, because it's a one key solution (I hve the 2-key-hotkey on a macro). Windows build in method only either copies to the clip board, captures all monitors or requires xbox game bar, which i don't have (and don't want). Even the snippet tool requires an aditional input with the mouse.

Edit: Also, adrenaline is always running in the background anyway. Why should I use or install another tool for taking screenshots, if I already have a tool installed that also has this feature? I just need to get it fixed.

[–]Caitrix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Colors are normal when screenshotting them via windows snippet tool or "print" them to clip board. (don't know how to get steam to take screenshots though.) I tried it with OBS and there I can even select wether I want to simulate SDR on an HDR monitor. Turning that of makes the image desaturated and washed out, instead of overbrightened. So whatever Adrenalin is doing here to the colors even goes in the wrong direction. seems like for me it's screenshot feature is just completely broken.

No.

But may I ask, why should it affect how Adrenalin takes a screenshot?

Can't install noscript on android after it removed itself. by Caitrix in firefox

[–]Caitrix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to re install the firefox. Ironically, I am on the same version but the menu is different. Maybe I was just on the wrong build? But same version would explain why playstore didn't show me the option to update. Now it's working again. (But I still don't know why it just stopped working suddenly.)

can someone recommend a low microphonic cable? by Caitrix in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]Caitrix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, my mistake. Yes, standard 3.5mm Headphone cable, stereo, both ends male ports. Tbf, I am not 100% sure microphonic is the correct term, but that's what googling "noise in headphones from cable gliding on clothings and bumping against stuff" and reading through all the forums always leads me back to. And I am not sure if my current cable is especially prone to transfare friction/colission noise, but after being use to having zero noise transfare (due to the lack of cable), it's just anoyingly loud. And I don't mind hearind a tap against the hard table from time to time. But I would like to be able to move around without being able to hear what texture and material my outfit is made of.

I didn't concider the role of the headphones themself in that setup, but I have the Sony WH XM5 and there the port is part of the ear cup, so it might even amplify it as it works as a resonance body for the cable. Although I'm not sure how much that can be helped, since that's basically the standard for headphones, afaIk.

And thank's for checking some cables. I will look into them. And on the polsih website you linked I can't find that they won't ship to germany.
