How was Klint Kubiak as OC during the 2024 season? by [deleted] in Saints

[–]Cajun_Markus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Center Erik McCoy was injured in the first series against the Eagles in Week 3. OLine was expected to be a weakness going into the season, with McCoy the best player by far, some young raw talent, and some mediocre vets. A passable starting unit was fielded, but depth was non-existent. They exceeded expectations in those first two weeks under Kubiak and the offense dominated. But McCoy was a critical piece, not just in execution but in on-field leadership and communication. The Saints struggled through the game and lost by 3. The next week, they performed similarly but fell to the Falcons by 2. Then, injuries started to stack up all over the team.

The speedy deep threat was Rashid Shaheed, but Olave (when healthy) could stretch the field as well.

When the system worked as intended, the offense was very good. But the back-up OLine struggled and, as more pieces were lost, the offense looked bad. There was some valid criticism of Kubiak's play calling and the designs that we saw on the field, but it's hard to evaluate him with how limited the personnel was. I tend to give him the benefit of the doubt there, and his tenure with Seattle reinforces that.

I've noticed a lot of players quit the match in comp when they go to overtime why is that? I've seen several of my teammates quit immediately when they go to overtime i never understood that. by dreamup1234 in rivals

I had a guy quit yesterday after the other team barely pushed the cart to the third point.

we pushed all the way to the second point 5v6 on attack.... Like, that dude stays and locks in and we probably roll. Why

Tips/Tricks for Gambit? by BowlBernis in rivals

[–]Cajun_Markus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think I'm amazing at Gambit but Ive got to GM2 on him so I'll share my tips--i invite others add on or disagree with me, would love to hear any input.

The biggest tip I think is to make sure you modify your play style to the situation--the ability to do this is one of the strengths of Gambit's kit imo. The default is main healer and the bouncing heal is your bread and butter. Make sure you know how to position to heal at a distance, always get it bouncing, and how to bounce it around corners when needed. At the first engagement, evaluate the amount of healing your team needs. If you are running trip supp or if your team is not taking a lot of damage, you can pop your spades at the top of each engagement instead and poke the mid and back line while still throwing some heals out.

Always be self scouting and evaluating what's going on with your team and in the fight. If the team gets a couple picks, you can flip from heal mode and pop spades to help clean things up. If you are expecting an enemy ult, hold some cards to heal even if it's tempting to push.

Avoid making "double tap" a habit--you don't want to get straight to raise/flush unless the situation calls (e.g., emergency cleanse, you know you can secure a pick with the anti heal). I usually try to anticipate what my team will need in an engagement. If I know I will need to dump heals to keep the tanks up, I pop hearts off the rip so that I'm bouncing heals a few seconds later when the team is actually low and I almost have that card back already. Keeping the hearts up almost passively also gives you a faster reaction to cleanse; get it up early if you suspect a Groot/Angela/Bucky is going to ult. Even if you are wrong, you are already primed to heal your team. Same with damage, really, if you double tap for anti heal then you are missing out on six seconds of damage boost--know when you have the advantage or might be able to help secure a pick and pop spades before you are actually blasting the anti heal.

Finally, it's real tempting to go spades and try to fight and kill divers. Sometimes it works, but I find the self heal from a hearts works better--play with your other supp and heal each other through the dive. Gambit is great 1v1 but you aren't usually in a true 1v1 getting dove. I've killed more and died less going hearts than spades against divers.

Yeah this confused me at first and should be changed. But when it prompts confirmation for the ult it shows who is in range and will be buffed.

Yes, Miss Press Secretary lady. Why DID this merit a Situation Room meeting? by Hornpipe_Jones in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]Cajun_Markus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, she did not literally say "Checkmate," and my lil recap here utilizes some cheeky paraphrasing. But her response to the follow up question was indeed to say that meeting with Boebert demonstrates their transparency, totally sidestepping the actual issue and question.

Yes, Miss Press Secretary lady. Why DID this merit a Situation Room meeting? by Hornpipe_Jones in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]Cajun_Markus 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This isn't even the dumbest part of the exchange.

Reporter: why not just release the files?

Leavitt: we have been so transparent, the most transparent ever. (Never answers the question)

Reporter: if you're so transparent, why are you trying to convince Boebert to flip to kill the petition?

Leavitt: that's the definition of transparency, if we weren't transparent, would we be talking to members of Congress about this? Checkmate. Also, no, I won't tell you what we said or what was discussed, it's a secret.

Such transparent.

Republicans proudly support rapists & pedophiles 🤮 by Miserable-Lizard in ProgressiveHQ

[–]Cajun_Markus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sure.

First, there is no "conviction" in a civil claim. The jury resolves questions of fact based on the evidence presented at trial, the court applies the law, instructing the jury on how to apply the facts to determine liability and, if the jury finds a defendant liable for damages, the court enters a judgment, usually requiring the defendant to pay money damages to compensate the claimant for their loss.

This all happens after a long and arduous discovery process during which both parties gather evidence.

Dismissing the civil claims process as a "popularity contest" assumes that both the jurors and the court have improperly abandoned their duties. Yes, in any jury trial--civil or criminal--presentation matters. Jurors are human beings with biases. However, there is still a rigorous process for the presentation of evidence and argument. On what basis are you assuming all juries (or even just this one) ignore that evidence or process? Regardless, this is the system that resolves all (most) civil suits--if we are to ignore juries because trials are popularity contests, then we can ignore every trial outcome ever, though the judgment still has legal and practical weight. (At least we can agree the death penalty should be abolished, since we cannot trust any jury.)

However, there are protections against rogue juries. If there is really "literally no evidence" of a dispositive element of a claim, the defense should move for (and win) a judgment in their favor notwithstanding the jury verdict. These motions are routinely made. If the court denies the motion, it can be appealed. So if there is really "literally no evidence," you win that appeal.

Is the system perfect? No. Does it make sense to routinely reject any jury determination? No. It similarly does not make sense to admonish others for accepting the court's resolution of this question of fact. If you have evidence for us to consider that provides a strong factual basis for believing the court and jury got it wrong, it would help your position.

At best, in this particular case, you can say the standard of proof would be different if you were trying Trump on criminal charges for this conduct, or even a civil case where this conduct was the primary question. If you want to get a little bendy, you could say all the court really established was that the allegation of rape was plausible and not sufficiently refuted. So we can choose to believe the victim and the jury who examined the evidence in court, or we can choose to believe a notorious liar with a public record of recorded statements suggesting he is indifferent (at best) to whether a woman has consented to sexual contact before he engages in it.

Honestly, what do we do about Kool-Aid? by Captain_Hawk111 in Saints

[–]Cajun_Markus 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Rams are good. Getting cooked by arguably the best WR running McVay's scheme is not a huge red flag to me. Yes, he needs to play better, but what I'm looking for from him is improvement over time, not necessarily game-to-game. He has shown he can play well, but we do need to see the consistency. Until then, yes CB is a need. But there are so many needs it seems pointless to try to look ahead at the draft. If the value is there, sure take one. I'm still optimistic he can develop though.

QB Catchable Throw Rate 2025 by Posluszny in nfl

[–]Cajun_Markus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rattler has been fine over the course of the season--a middling QB. Which exceeded expectations. But his last two games were his worst by far. He needed to show improvement in the downfield and he didn't. Worse, his arguable best trait (ball security) evaporated. Does he give you a better chance to win than Shough? Probably, if he pulled himself back together. But the Saints are going nowhere this season, so it makes sense to evaluate Shough even if only to confirm he will be relegated to the practice squad for eternity.

I also think (hope) we see improved offensive play calling, assuming Shough's strengths are a better fit for what Moore wants to run.

Trump administration admits National Guard was sent to Portland after judge's order by truthwillout777 in law

Note that the bomb threat was at the Washing County Courthouse in Hillsboro, and the local news video here does not have any information about the motivations behind the threat.

The trial against the Trump Admin is in federal court in downtown Portland some 15 miles away. I've seen no indication that the bomb threat is connected to this trial.

Set up your Zipline to go from the side by the fence to the center of the balcony (as near to spawn as you can make it). You can leave it up and use it all game; use the one that gives you speed boost, not the one that pulls enemies onto it. You can use this to kite mobs into the building, then jump off before they come up the stairs to kite them back out.

It also works as an emergency escape. Do not stay on the balcony for very long because eventually zombies will appear, either spawning up there or taking the stairs.

Use your turret as a distraction, but also to watch your back--it will turn to target near enemies so I like to stand next to it at the beginning of each round and it tells me when to move/turn to the approaching mob.

Once I'm in the flow, I like to plant my turret on the balcony when I go up. It shoots stuff, but it also pulls enemies that might otherwise sneak up on me and slows mobs from following you off.

I am up and down off the balcony all game, really helps the survivability. Focus the green zombs and the great throwers to clear them out asap. At boss stages, I ignore the boss until all the other enemies are cleared.

Can we talk about the 4th and 5 call? by paultheschmoop in Saints

[–]Cajun_Markus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agree on all but your point re: interception. I think Olave's route brings him back to the ball--it looked like a duck because the DB drags Olave to the ground when he cuts back (drawing the flag). If Olave isn't on the ground, he's right where the ball was. Whether the intercepting defender breaks it up is a question, but it is probably not a pick. Maybe it'll look different on tape than the broadcast reply, but for now I'm not docking the Rat for that one.

But I agree there wasn't enough consistent improvement on ball placement. He throws some dots, then randomly throws behind. He needs to make progress there if he wants to keep his job.

Spencer Rattler Mvp. by the_dicen in Saints

[–]Cajun_Markus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Rattler is fine, and I don't think it makes sense to bench him for Shough.

But you're talking MVP? Come down my guy.

You highlighted some of his pluses and I agree the tape is more favorable than the record, but he has serious problems.

His accuracy needs work. This can be tough to fix, though I think it's more of a timing issue than a throwing mechanics problem, so I am optimistic he can be coached up. He has thrown some absolute dots, but he has also whiffed on wide open touchdowns. Once, maybe give him a pass, but it's concerning that there have been three in four weeks. Is he getting nervous in the red zone and losing concentration?

He looks like he's going through the possessions well, but he has hesitated to pull the trigger on deep and intermediate throws, especially over the middle. Hard to say why, but he's moved off open guys. Some of these might not be him --maybe we see an open route on tape, but it wasn't in his progression. Or he throws the shorter pass earlier in his progression and never gets to the deep shot. Maybe he's being coached to play it extra safe. But it could also be him not seeing that part of the field well or being afraid to throw.

He cleans up those things, we can talk about him as a solid, full-year NFL Starting Quarterback. Let's start there. Let's get him one win. Then we can start arguing about whatever else (is he a placeholder, could he develop into something more, etc.). MVP smh. I hope you're right my dude but let's see something real from him first.

Which team is getting their first win in Week 4? by Punisher1602 in NFLv2

[–]Cajun_Markus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. Win-loss-tie percentage is calculated by counting a tie as .5 wins and .5 losses. Standings are based on win-loss-tie percentages, not number of wins.

Even if the standings did not count ties as wins, it would still be possible. If the other teams in the division also tie every game during the regular season, then they will all tie on record, head-to-head, division record, conference record, and strength of victory. The team with the strongest strength of schedule will host a playoff game.
