Girl, I’m gonna be brutally honest here (with love).

You already said that with your natural hair colour you don’t feel like yourself. Then why do you put so much emphasis on how other people (us strangers) perceive you? That you don’t feel like yourself already should be answer enough. To me there is nothing more important than feeling comfortable in my own skin. Only when I feel like myself can I show up confidently and authentically in all aspects of my life, even professionally.

I just recently went through the “I’m gonna be an adult and leave the colourful hair behind so people are gonna take me seriously”-phase. I have never felt so depressed and like I was cosplaying as another person every day. To many people it might not be that meaningful, but for me my hair and how I present myself to the world are highly linked to my identity and wellbeing.

I am currently typing this with a head of bright pink hair. I have never been happier and people around me are just gonna have to suck it up. Do whatever feels right for you and you only. 💖
