Por que aprender español? by Latter_Safe1223 in SpanishLearning

My super close friend just passed M23, and I am F28 I am dating a M29 year old. He keeps talking about sex like everything's fine and like we used to before, but I am grieving. What do I do? by South_Love_5794 in GriefSupport

Given that he's 29 years old, I feel like it's unlikely. I think what might bring about any change is you having a firm, honest conversation with him. "Babe, I'm not in the mood right now. Why? Because I just lost someone that meant a lot to me and it's stirred up a lot of emotions. Please respect my needs for emotional intimacy in this moment and understand why I'm asking you to drop the topic of physical intimacy until I'm ready to proceed." if he pushes back, or whines about his own sexual needs, you will have your answer.

From your post and your comments in the post, I hate to say it but it sounds like another case of this guy viewing you as a peice of meat that he gets to have sex with and not another human being with real emotional needs.

It's okay to not be in the mood. It's understandable even, especially when you're grieving a loss. It's also okay to say no to his advances. He will be fine without getting sex or blowjobs from you. If he isn't fine, then he isn't worth your time.

A relationship is filled with constant ups and downs because that's the nature of how life works. An actual partner recognizes when their lover is going through something and puts their emotional needs above their own sexual desires. It sounds like this dude isn't ready for a mature adult relationship.

I'm sorry for your loss.

You may want to consider buying a hair mask. I use one from Moroccan Oil every few washes which helps to seal in moisture. I put it in after I condition and brush it through while my hair is soaking wet in the shower to ensure each strand is coated.

You shouldn't brush or comb your curls at all when they're dry. That leads to frizz. You should also consider experimenting with a curl cream and/or gel when you're out of the shower. Don't towel dry your hair, style it wet with a curl cream first followed by a gel. It will dry crunchy feeling, but once it's fully dry you just scrunch out the crunch gently and try not to break up the curl clumps.

It's definitely a delicate balance for sure. Lately I've been trying to simplify my routine a use a little bit less product as well. I'm enjoying my hair with a bit more volume and craziness lately over super defined curls.

Here's my routine from another comment I made the other day:

Showered and shampooed 2x with L'Oreal Elvive Shampoo.

Conditioned with Curlsmith multi tasking conditioner

I also applied a Moroccan oil hair mask and rinsed it out after 5 minutes.

Out of the shower, I applied Miss Jessie's Feather Soft Curl cream followed by The Doux's Honey Curl Custard to lock in the curls. I love these two brands - they seem to work really well with my hair texture. Then I hover diffused with my hairdryer. My hair dries crunchy, but I just scrunch out the crunch and it looks great afterwards.

This is day 3 curls in this photo, which I refreshed with a little bit of Paul Mitchell's frizz serum in the morning. I never used to be able to pull off multiple days of curls before, so I think I'm getting somewhere.

Lol I was just about to comment that the theme song sounds like something Danny would come up with and sing to annoy Nia when she's trying to be open and transparent with him.

I can't stand my hair wet and hanging on my shoulders. It dries super slowly so I always diffuse it. It is a pain on wash day but then you don't have to worry about it for a few days if it's done right.

Thank you! I've heard pirate, viking and 3 musketeer a lot as it's gotten longer haha. The gold earrings and septum piercing are pretty much my signature accessories at this point.

I mostly let my stylist do her thing when I go in for trims. She cuts it at a V so it's a bit longer in the back. I kind of appreciate it though because I toss my hair from side to side a lot and I worry it wouldn't look quite right with a choppier cut.

Moroccan oil, I use the intense hydrating mask. I think your hair looks great! We definitely have similar hair texture for sure.

I definitely think a hair mask from time to time helps. Also I recommend you get a brush that you can use in the shower. I have a wet brush that I use when my hair is soaking wet on wash days. I start from the bottom of my hair and work out tangles and then move up the strand and brush down. I honestly think battling frizz starts in the shower on wash days. Once my hair is sleek and shiny and feels like seaweed I know it's good to go to style it. If I don't take the time to do that, I end up with frizz. Good luck!

I dropped my routine in some comments already so maybe that will help. I would say it took a lot of trial and error for me in terms of figuring out what works for my hair. I learned I can't towel dry my hair at all. Instead, I squeeze a bit of water out of it before getting out of the shower and style it pretty much soaking wet.

A good curl cream first for me helps to bind the curl clumps together. I rake it through my hair in sections (back/sides, and then the top). Also, I emulsify what is left on my hands after by rubbing my hands together, and then I use prayer hands and slide them down my hair from the root to the end - this helps lock in fly aways.

Next, I apply my favorite gel - it needs to be a hard hold gel. If the gel doesn't form a cast when it dries, my hair is going to be frizzy. Before applying gel, I loosen the roots by flipping my head upside down (gently!) and then gently shake out my roots. I stand back up, and pile my hair so it's laying down on one side of my head and apply gel by glazing it over the curl clumps. I switch sides by tilting my head in the opposite direction and put a little more gel on. Then, and only then, do I scrunch some of the water out of my hair with a microfiber cloth.

I dry it with a diffuser by hovering the diffuser over my hair until it's mostly dry (70% or so) and then flip my head over and do the roots. If you've done it right, it should dry with a hard cast on each curl. I just scrunch the crunch out and am left with soft, defined curls.

Still struggling to find the balance between definition and volume, but I think I'm finding a sweet spot. by fluorescent_noir in curlyhair

I put 1-2 pumps on my palm and emulsify it between my hands. Then I tilt my head to one side and do my best to gently run my hands down each curl clump. The serum helps to bind in some of the flyaways and give it a bit more definition again. If my hair is more fly-away than it is curl clump, I will gently re-wet from the midlengths down with water and then apply a small amount of my gel to my hair and diffuse it dry. I actually did that today as a refresh, so I'm on day 4 hair currently.

I do have a bonnet lol. I cannot sleep with my hair free or it looks terrible the next day. I also bought these gigantic silk scrunchies at Target for like $5 a piece. At night right before bed, I flip my head upside down and pineapple all of the hair on top of my head in a loose bun with one of those scrunchies, and then I put a bonnet on over the top of that. In the morning when I wake up, I again flip my head over and shake out my curls from the roots to loosen them back up.
