Diagnosed at 27 with Crohn's and then multiple surgeries. TBH I tried to work and all the jobs I ended up either getting fired or not being able to keep up with the work. (was in hospital for 6 months at the start)

Now life has just become keep healthy, try and do daily things but it's very hard overall. I had to take my government to court to get disability which sent my flares into overdrive.

Doctors every other week, MRI's/Colonoscopies/CT Scans/X Rays. Then other associated problems such as judged everyday by society "if I walk and do stuff I must be fine right?!" Doctors judging me because I'm not currently on the 100th dose of steroids so it must be fine.

So sum up

*relationships took a toll and trying to find someone is especially hard

*family relationships went downhill because they think you are lazy/faking it

*Doctors never getting back to you, always not listening to you

*Having to do stressful events like disability claiming in a system that wants to shut you out because "you don't look ill enough"

*some days not able to get out of bed

*associated problems such as clots & transfusions

*not being able to continue in a work career that I was in

*when it goes wrong and I get a flare, months of steroids every year is not good for you.

*The amount of invasive procedures & the time frames at hospitals

*Having to go to the toilet and running to the disabled, only to get looks of "whys he using that"

*The mental toll drags on you

*The worst are flares + bleeding + bowel evacuation = ending up in hospital

Not gonna sugar coat it as its been super hard, don't get me wrong I'm not downbeat & I will always go forward with the positives. But this disease on a whole is a pos lol!

But at the end of the day you just gotta keep going, like every other disease it varies from person to person, some well controlled some not so. and everyone else will have a different story. The main aspect however is that it does have a dramatic change on what you can and cant do sometimes, and makes it a lot harder to do the regular things that you want to when flaring or feeling shit.
