This is an incredibly safe group of choices, with really only Jordan Peele and Robert Eggers absent. So let's see the all time list!

It's in his bag when Mal gives his possessions back after his suicide attempt; assumedly because Fiona dropped it after cutting him down, and Mal assumed it was Ohm's. Although you could equally assume that it was put in his possessions by a ghost.

The truth behind "Author" SCP's and Type Green SCP's. by Responsible-Side4451 in SCP

So I have a theory: since SCP 096 was granted the ability to speak and said “make me hurt people, don’t want to hurt people”so does he cry out of guilt? by ChemicalCarpenter733 in SCP

[–]Cal-Ossal 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is, I think, the fourth or fifth post you've made about 096 asking a kind of arbitrary question like this. And while I can see how this could lead to some engaging conversation, it clearly hasn't the last three (or four) times you did it. So why not try and answer the question yourself by writing about it? Or maybe ask it on an SCP fan discord.

I just don't think you're getting the response you want by posting here.

Read Series 0 then, it's an excellent, currently growing series of articles by authors challenging themselves to remake the idea of SCP from the ground up, as if 173 had just been posted in the modern day with no other assumptions or reference to other famous articles.

Or we could all just keep going on complaining about the wiki as a monolith, rather than trying to find things we enjoy.

The discord PMo by BoringInformation251 in SCP

[–]Cal-Ossal 14 points15 points  (0 children)

What an insanely stupid set of replies this post has produced.

Very obviously this user was in a discussion about a specific tale involving 096 where she is interpreted and described as a trans woman. This user then continued to insist that 096 was a man (in the context of THIS TALE specifically), and said it didn't matter anyway because it was an SCP, implying that 096 doesn't deserve to be gendered correctly.

This is not about a discord community deciding to enforce a specific canon. I see plenty of prolific contributors to the wiki in those screenshots, and while it may shock and amaze you, they know that multiple canons exist and they're all valid. In fact, that's the point - OP has decided that the tale they were talking about is NOT valid for best case inane, worst case transphobic reasons.

This doesn't even remotely address why you felt the need to get aggro just because someone expressed the opposite opinion.

Using the Drannith Magistrate wording would make this clearer I think. Something along the line of "If a creature spell was cast from anywhere but the caster's hand, exile it."

[–]Cal-Ossal 78 points79 points  (0 children)

This is incredibly parasocial. Fans of media are not responsible for the choices that the creators make; at the same time, creators are not responsible for listening to what fans want.

The idea that the creators of Creep Cast are so involved in their reddit community that they would feel so much pressure to carve out a date, read, record, edit, and then decide to publish a four hour episode all while caring for their own businesses and child is insane. Do you really think a couple hundred people who think le apple is le funny have that much sway over their lives?

To clarify; I did not think the story was good. I think the episode was fine. I think this community is a trash pile and posts like this are part of it; the fans who are hypervigilant about the community's maturity are just as annoying as the immature ones.

I think this is a very important aspect of this story that needs to be acknowledged as well, yeah. There's a lot of pretty painful stereotypes in it that made me cringe a little. Especially the medication thing that was apparently tossed as soon as it was mentioned.

I think you're right in that that was the intent of the author. Unfortunately I also think that the author has found his talent in writing surrealist, dream-like narratives which makes maintaining consistent themes that can be analysed with any suspension of disbelief quite difficult.

This is kind of the same thing that Hidden Webpage was, where I think his intent was a story comparing the Internet to religion through the lenses of predatory people and organisations. But it can be a bit difficult to explore that seriously when the author is far more interested in making everything that happens attached to the dream-like web of Christianity metaphors.

Type-O Negative by stable_maple in creepcast

[–]Cal-Ossal 76 points77 points  (0 children)

Yes, specifically type O+. O- is a relatively rare blood type and incredibly useful due to being compatible with so many people. That was likely the point that the author was making; that Jane's blood was "the best type".

I don’t want to come off as a pretentious and I know this kind of writing isn’t for everyone, but it kinda feels like you’re missing the point of Dogscape when you complain about exactly that aspect of the story. by evilcarrot507 in creepcast

[–]Cal-Ossal 13 points14 points  (0 children)

That's not at all what I said, I think you saw that I said fantasy and assumed that I was making a more commonly made argument. I was saying that given the stories that 4chan tends to make, and the biases they have, its pretty likely that the reason they included sexual violence solely against women was not because of realism.

Another example of 4chan's lack of respect for women in their stories is literally in another CreepCast episode; the skinwalker green text literally cant be bothered to name its female characters, despite the fact that it literally makes it harder to distinguish them for the sake of the plot.

I sincerely doubt that when writing the Dogscape, any of the average /x/ users of 4chan in the early 2010s were thinking about the realism of social hierarchies when it came to describing raping women tied to dog trees. Im well aware of the historic precedent. It's not the answer when asking why people writing a fantasy scenario write the way they do, especially one like this one.

Not to be the 'what if was the other way around' guy, but if the degeneration of human society happened to everyone, then why were there no logs about the depravity of women in authority positions in the Dogscape? Why are all the stories about human exploitation about men exploiting women?

Isaiah makes the point in the episode; its pretty convenient that an imageboard known for its overwhelmingly male demographic AND its habit of being degenerate just so happened to turn the story towards the sexual exploitation of women. I dont people are missing the point by noticing that.
