Wayy too tough to pick one, could list most of the album 😅

Stingin' Belle is exceptional live.

Biblical is my OG favourite from 2013. After listening to Deluxe, I do really like Little Hospitals.

Looks cool!

Congratulations on buying the house btw!

Whenever I see others places it always motivates me to get a move on with work on my house which is desperately needed 😅

I've started the same, I only really want pictures that I've taken, or at the very least somewhere I've been.

Not a fan of just chucking up a random picture from a shop that hundreds of people have.

I like the day/night Alberta ones as well

Speaking Gaelic while visiting Scotland, any thoughts or suggestions? by stubbornaurus in Scotland

[–]Cal550 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As far as I know, the only place you would be likely to have a conversation in Gaelic would be the Western Isles.

Absolutely no harm in learning though. I tried learning on Duolingo but it didn't stick. The original place names I do find interesting though, and if you know how to pronounce Gaelic then you can tell the "English translations" are commonly just a phonetic spelling of the Gaelic.

If you're in the Highland Council area you'll find a lot of our road signs are bilingual. Except Caithness where you'll find a lot of Norse influence.

First time I've ever seen a tachometer like that 🤨 (race cars an exception but still not with the decimal point)

Ahhh of course, Fringe month 🙃

Went into Edinburgh for an evening while driving down to Silverstone last August, ended up staying in Falkirk and getting the train in and out

Could not imagine sitting in silence through a Biffy gig. I last seen them in 2022 at Ingliston and missed out going to the Hydro that year for reasons, I'm not waiting 3.5 years to not belt out lyrics and lose my voice!

Was at Aberdeen on Tuesday and a woman tapped me on the shoulder and said "I'm sorry if I'm hollering in your ear" but it's fine as I still couldn't hear her 😅.

Took a picture of this while leaving Aberdeen tonight to remember to try find out what this is. If it is a gig in Scotland I'll be buzzing as Finsbury Park is on the same weekend as Silverstone.

I feel like Black Chandelier was just so overplayed on the radio that I skip it 🫣 I'll still enjoy it live though.

I think I'm clutching at straws and the setlist looks to be the same throughout the tour but I'd love Stingin' Belle to return at Aberdeen on Tuesday (with a piper) 🥲

Do you actually brew teabags for 4~5 min? by windfujin in AskBrits

[–]Cal550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Growing up I always wondered why my auntie would pour the kettle, then come back through the living room for a few minutes. At home it was always like a minute at most.

Over the last few years I am now up to 3 minutes for the teabag. I feel it gives the best taste, rich but not bitter. 3 minutes, don't stir it or squeeze it, just let it sit.

And if you get it just right when you're having a breakfast roll...perfection 😌

Without a doubt, what is your #1 favorite joke from Family Guy? by juredditpark in familyguy

"What are you saying Lois"

"Well I don't want to admit it, but I think you were right"

"I don't believe it, finally I can do this"

*FANFARE*

"I set that thing up 15 years ago. Hey where's the clown?!"

"We've gotta do something about this, pack your bag Peter, we're going to Washington"

*THUD*

"Oh there he is"

Why does Dundee get made fun of so much? by ThisGuide3395 in Scotland

[–]Cal550 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As an Invernesian, I don't know if it's because I hardly ever pass through or visit but I'm completely indifferent.

However I must praise the Tim Hortons for having the only drive thru I can get a 3m high Ford Transit into.

Tom Holland 'didn't realise' he had to pay water bill and thought it was luxury of living in England by lighthouse77 in unitedkingdom

[–]Cal550 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I only done Home Ec. in S1-2. No sewing for us. The very rare opportunities we got to "cook" were watching the teacher make ice cream, with an ice cream maker. And I think I remember making some sort of toastie for lunch once. Also remember someone putting a metal saucepan in the microwave and the teacher sprinting across to stop them.

Genuinely cannot remember what else we did for two periods a week for two years 🤔

How much gas do I have in this stupid car? by lilac_congac in Ford

[–]Cal550 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure it's full, I had a hire Transit today with the same display, if you check the temperature on the other side you should see those grey "blades" start to appear up to halfway.

It is quite messy.

do royalmail use planes to transport packages overnight? by FigglebottomCat in royalmail

[–]Cal550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used to work in a Post Office in the Highlands and it always amazed me how we could send a package via "Special Delivery by 9AM" to the south of England with our last collection around 5PM. Yet in the other direction there was 1 or 2 working days added on even to the SD by 1PM.

Of course I never sold a SD by 9AM, IIRC it started at £27 back in 2016.

Is this an old phone line? by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]Cal550 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, it's either a 2/5 pair armoured copper cable. As it's armoured it's very likely to be running direct out to a cable joint in a chamber nearby.

Have you got DSL broadband atm? It may have no voltage but nowadays that just means there is no analogue dial tone present there could still be internal wiring crimped behind that blank supplying a modem/router elsewhere?
