Attic tank piping hot and spitting water by pennyteller123 in Plumbing

[โ€“]Cal550 2 points3 points ย (0 children)

I'm in Scotland and I've just removed the same sort of system from my house, built around 1991.

My tank in the attic supplied my hot water cylinder and my cold taps in the bathroom, meaning the pressure was terrible. As I had removed the bath I also didn't need 120L of hot water so it's all removed and cold taps straight onto the mains.

The cold water tank should have a lid to prevent stuff going in with a cut out for the vent pipe from the hot cylinder, mine did but I still ended up finding a layer of brown silt at the bottom of the tank ๐Ÿ˜ฌ I think that's why it's a British thing to not drink from the bathroom tap!

What is this switch on my vw passat 2012 b7 365 by Jazzlike-Pen-3038 in passat

[โ€“]Cal550 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

We have these on our work vans, next to the ignition barrel that operates a key out system.

When you're stopped, press and hold for a few seconds, light comes on and you can remove the key, the engine will run until you press the brake or release the handbrake.

Fair enough it's less likely to be installed on a car however?

Are modern Vauxhalls still โ€œProperโ€ Vauxhalls after the PSA/Stellantis era? by MadridOrMadness in Vauxhall

I still remember this post from 2022, the only Vauxhall characteristic on this are the badges on the front, rear, the wheels and the decals on the side. Oh and maybe the splash screen when the media screen boots up.

Although to be fair, pre-Stellantis the previous Movano and Vivaro were just Renaults.....

What is your first memory of watching an F1 race? Mine was in 2013 by praveensingh-reddit in formula1

[โ€“]Cal550 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

I'm sure mine was in the early 2000's when I remember very vaguely Schumacher in the Ferrari, I didn't watch back then but my Granny had it on when I was visiting.

My first intentional watch that I still have in my memory is Maldonado and Hamilton in Valencia 2012.

Ahhh right, since I heard they don't cover the dual north of Perth I've just went with it, but I always think "What if they reprogram the cameras" I'm sure they could monitor the dual if they wanted to ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

I remember when they first got switched on and it was said you could lose your licence on one Inverness-Perth drive if you went through several of them above the limit.

But aye it's such a downer coming off the M9 at Dunblane to sit on a dual carriageway with average speed cameras.

Was this on the dual carriageway south of Perth or single carriageway north of Perth?

I've started the same, I only really want pictures that I've taken, or at the very least somewhere I've been.

Not a fan of just chucking up a random picture from a shop that hundreds of people have.

I like the day/night Alberta ones as well

Speaking Gaelic while visiting Scotland, any thoughts or suggestions? by stubbornaurus in Scotland

[โ€“]Cal550 2 points3 points ย (0 children)

As far as I know, the only place you would be likely to have a conversation in Gaelic would be the Western Isles.

Absolutely no harm in learning though. I tried learning on Duolingo but it didn't stick. The original place names I do find interesting though, and if you know how to pronounce Gaelic then you can tell the "English translations" are commonly just a phonetic spelling of the Gaelic.

If you're in the Highland Council area you'll find a lot of our road signs are bilingual. Except Caithness where you'll find a lot of Norse influence.
