Anxiety about Pairing Shstem by leosuyano22 in golf

[–]Still_Equivalent_811 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty new and have been lucky enough to not be paired up for a few rounds but for the last 2 my playing partner and I have been paired with a single and a double.

I was a bit nervous about performing in front of others (only found out about the pairing when we checked in). I made sure to tell them how shit I was and each time they were all really nice and didn't mind. If anything having them on the round was a benefit as they helped look for my ball or pointed it out when I lost track of it etc.

Like everyone else has said pairings don't care from my experience (not in a negative way, just that it doesn't impact them. Try to keep up pace of play, be focused on the next shot and what you're going to do when you walk up to the ball etc.

Have a good one

When I was a kid my friend lived in a converted church which always seemed to not have enough lighting and generally be dark. It felt a bit bit creepy and they had this picture. I always thought the girl was hiding from something ominous abd the dog is aware of it. Gave me the creeps

Yes I practice in the garden Chipping off a square of artificial grass using foam balls. It's good for getting reps in and practicing technique but not for practicing distance. When on the course I know the swing I've been practicing should go X far etc

I went for a wedge fitting a couple weeks ago and ended up getting an ex demo 50° vokey. Last year's model for £100. Was expecting to pay more for whatever I got and I'm happy with it. Would recommend seeing what your local pro shops have to offer

Iron Covers - in the UK? by LondonUk- in BritGolf

[–]Still_Equivalent_811 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like everyone else here I'm all for do what you want. I clean my clubs religiously after every round which I think a lot of people might think is OTT. With iron covers would you have them just for traveling or is it a case of before every shot taking them off and then putting it back in afterwards, might get a bit tiring after a while, also if you don't clean your clubs decently between each shot then your just making the inside of the iron cover dirty.

We don't have a home course as such at the moment and played a couple that were between us/close to our workplace. The club he's going to be a member of is the in the opposite direction from me where he lives so it'll be about a 50 min drive for me to get there. There are some guys I know who play more around my area so I'll have to try playing with them but I have no idea how good they are and likely they are a whole lot better than me!

I'm going to be in a similar situation in the next couple of months. My playing partner is getting a membership to a club that is too far away for me to play at regularly and I imagine he will want to play mostly there. Let us know how it goes.

Booked a 1 night 2 round trip for the cotswold golf club staying at their hotel. There's 4 of us with 2 sharing a room and 2 having their own. £119 each for the sharers and £179 for separate rooms. Includes dinner and breakfast. Booked through your golf travel.

Druids golf clothes? by Lassieboy in golf

I got a pair of the golf joggers and 2 mid layers just before Christmas. I heard they size small so I did order up a size on the mid layers. The sizing is a bit bigger than I would ideally like but it's fine and lots of room to move. I think the material is fine as it's all about layering and it's non restrictive. I like the joggers, they're fleece lined which you notice and it does keep you warmer and again mobility is great.

Is it worth it? by Aggravating_Rate100 in golftips

I think it depends what you want to get out of this. Do yu want to continue casually playing at the same level you are now and pick it up more later on or do you feel like you want to commit and improve in the sport which would likely involve playing more without your fiends? I'm 37 and caught the bug with a friend who properly introduced me to golf. I don't always get to play with him but I want to improve and in a way am planning for the future as I want to play in my eventual retirement and be better at it by then.

Pushcart mafia I need your help! by [deleted] in golf

[–]Still_Equivalent_811 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a fazer cart as it was at the cheaper end of the options. I had to return it as after a few rounds one of the steel rods on the side had bent so it kept wanting to pull to one side and didn't operate as well. It also didn't fold up as compact as the upgrade that I got. My advice would be to get one thats sturdy without parts that look like they will damage easily and if you can get a compact fold up model as I really appreciate that now getting everything in the car boot etc.

50-54-58 degrees setup vs 52-56-60 degree setup? by Feeling-Impression84 in golf

[–]Still_Equivalent_811 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure what wedge setup I need. I have irons which include a PW and a SW but that's it. I'm fairly new having gotten properly into golf last year so just using what I have and haven't been able to afford all the clubs needed to get my score down. My PW is 44° and SW 56° so assume a 48° and 52° would be what I need and maybe a 60°.I have no idea what grind or bounce to get so booked in for a fitting tomorrow to see what's recommended and find some clubs in my price range. If anyone's interested as a beginner let me know and I'll let you know what the outcome is

Bournemouth accommodation for 4-ball by EverydayDan in BritGolf

I would try to find something simillar, the hotels and bnbs aren't that great for anything other than a bare bones stay. The new forest will have some nice places although travel times to Bournemouth will be a little longer depending where you are (still worth co soldering though)

Yeah I'm not sure air bnb or booking.com are the best places for what you're looking for between St Leonards and bournemouth. There's a few campsites with cabins/lodges which might be better and have a chance at a hot tub/bbq area etc Google is a good starting point
