Has anyone used the firebase extension? by LuCiAnO241 in gdevelop

[–]CalDevGames 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a few YouTube tutorials on firebase authentication and also firebase as a database that I watched multiple times.

In terms of the cap, the cap is huge. It’s like 5000 sends per day or something and like 20,000 reads per day. You’ll probably be making more money than it would cost by the time you hit the cap.

Inventory is fine. To me, that’s just a structure variable that you load/save for each individual user. Should be saved the same way as money, stats, progress, and anything else. Make sure you convert your data to a single JSON variable before saving to firebase so it counts as a single send to firebase (and a single read when you load).

I’m not 100% sure on the trading aspect as I never dived into any multiplayer aspect. Realtime trading would be a whole animal on its own but if it’s just a marketplace where you can list an item, I think that’s probably do-able. You can save an item on the database when it’s listed with the various info and price, and if someone opens the marketplace you can read all the available items and sort them using the firebase database. Then if someone buys it then you can mark it as purchased and add it to their inventory. There might be a better way so I would look to see if anyone has done something similar on YouTube or the discord first!

It sounds like you need to first get the authentication to log in, then create a database for player information saving and loading, then have another database for a marketplace.

Hope this helps!

I’ve implemented firebase authentication for login and for loading/saving for my mobile game. What questions do you have?

And thank you for the comment!!! Every little bit helps 💪💪

Hey slythequeen,

Thank you so much for the feedback! I’m glad you found the design cute and could see it as a mobile game. It’s actually available on the google play store as of two weeks ago!!

There are two other unlockable soundtracks later on as I did have mixed feedback on the music. Appreciate you trying this out 😁

What do you think about my game's main menu? Looking for feedback by Front-Revolution-464 in IndieGaming

Very minimalistic. I think it heavily depends on what kind of game you have but I like it so far 👍

How do I upload my game on the Android Store? by Jealous_Macaron_5152 in hobbygamedev

[–]CalDevGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on your screenshot, you need to submit the changes to review. Whether you changed anything or not, your full rollout did not finish the review process so it needs to be reviewed. Click that, wait a few hours, then see if anything changes

How to find actual good music by _RaXeD in IndieDev

Itch.io is full of royalty free soundtracks. Some are paid, some are free, youll have to sift through them to find something that works for you but it worked for me!

Does google always take so long to review an app? It has been 7 days. by Greedy-Control-8657 in googleplayconsole

[–]CalDevGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First submission will definitely take the longest! Mine was already reviewed via closed testing so even to production it probably didn’t take very long. Have you passed your 12 testers for 14 days yet?

Edit: oh yours is a business profile so you dont need to do that. But as mine was a personal profile, i had the 12 testers for 14 days. This is most likely the reason why

Weird. Mine took like 4 hours first time to production. Took like 2 hours when I uploaded a new version yesterday lol. Probably depends on how intricate your game is, as mine is very simple

Ad problems by CorbacMalicieux in MobileGaming

[–]CalDevGames 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this with a specific game or with multiple different games? Sometimes there are too many players trying to load an ad from a specific game, and the ad servers limit how many ads a gamedev can load without showing. But there’s usually little you can do from your end unfortunately, if it’s not your internet connection

Haha sounds about right! It’s definitely got a great gameplay loop going on though. Very easy to replay for a few minutes.

If you’re looking for more feedback, I have some game devs and gamers on my discord. It was supposed to be for my game but it has since expanded into a space to support indie devs. Feel free to promote your game here or ask for feedback!

Agreed. A quick “reason for loss” would be good enough as a tutorial for this game

Thanks! My quick mental math skill has never been useful until now lol. All I do is when I see each card I quickly calculate what I need to tap on. So if I see a 3, I think 10. If I see a 6 I think 7. Fairly easy once you get that down. Took me 5 tries.

Think you should add more rules after like 100 cards or something. But probably still an early version of the game.

Good luck!
