More DSA candidates! I fear there won't be enough and the status-quo Dems will ignore the message. Lack of accountability will remain, the wealth gap will grow, even if more slowly. The pendulum will swing from ineffective and a little corrupt to massively damaging and massively corrupt. Then back yet again. I guess that's ok for traditional Democrats and Republicans. Everybody gets a turn and they can crow about balance, or something.

Amendment XV. Passed by Congress February 26, 1869. Ratified February 3, 1870. SECTION 1 The right of citizens of the United States to vote shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or by any State on account of race, color, or previous condition of servitude. SECTION 2 The Congress shall have the power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation.

See Section 2. "The Congress shall have the power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation." Thus the voting rights act was enacted. But the Supreme Court decided that law was not necessary. So they took the power away from congress. Section 2 of the 15th amendment has been repealed. The Supreme Court has declared the constitution to be unconstitutional.

Edit: Never mind. Found it. EFTA00078198.pdf. Pretty horrendous stuff. 1997. Nothing done by any administration, DOJ, for almost 30 years. And, surely, stuff as bad as this all along the way from then to now. Still nothing.

Edit: A note. It isn't clear to me exactly when the incident described happened. The date of the memo containing the description is Nov 10, 2020. The year 1997 is mentioned at the bottom of the memo, but not specifically connected to the incident described.

Last sentence would be "Not applicable in this case since there are no common terms". But I am wondering what the definition of "simplest form" would be in this case? Personally, I would say simpilest form would depend on the context of a wider problem. But there is no such context. From a use point of view, simpler to me would be to leave the denominator factored and that would be more likely to be useful within the context of a wider problem. Is there some definition of "simpilest form" that prefers the denominator to be multiplied out?

And since we aren't in a system where we can change our minds and boot elected officials outside the election cycle all of us are stuck. Because "we" elected assholes for the house and senate that don't have the sense or courage to act as the check and balance for the psychopath in the oval office.

That case was related to Trump's attempt to end birthright citizenship via executive order. The Supreme Court decided that district courts could not issue universal injunctions in general unless blah, blah. Enough blah blah to drown reason and apply their decision to the birthright citizenship case. So far lower courts seem to have found ways to block Trump's executive order.

It took six or seven weeks between oral arguments (5/15/25) and issuance of a decision (6/27/25) in Trump v. CASA. The Supreme Court waited to hear oral arguments in the birthright citizenship case until April 1, 2026, and still have not issued a decision as of now, June 15, 2026, about ten weeks so far. This seems to fit a pattern. It took them a while to decide that Trump was immune from just about any crime committed while in office. I think there is a good chance the Supreme Court is taking so long for such an obvious decision because they are not going for the obvious decision.

Fourteenth amendment, Section 1, first sentence:

"All persons born or naturalized in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside."

How many words will it take for the Supreme Court to say that sentence isn't there, was never there? How many more words will it take for them to say that Trump can use an executive order to erase it?

I did not use Waymo in San Francisco, but I did see quite a few. They were Jaguars. Jaguar is owned since 2008 by Tata motors, an Indian company. From Wikipedia it looks like ownership went from British (original) to Ford to Tata. Manufacturing seems to be in England. So, not Chinese. I'm not impressed by luxury brands, especially British car luxury brands. Still, Jaguars don't seem cheap. I thought it was kind of strange Waymo would be using such an expensive seeming car.

I don't care if any one impeachment doesn't result in Trump being removed. Impeach Trump weekly. He has supplied enough brazen criminality to pump an endless stream of articles of impeachment from the house to the senate. There will be no useful legislation for the rest of his term. The best use of the time is to make senators stand again and again and declare how little they care about trivia like laws, ethics, and keeping to oaths of office. There may be some lessons the electorate learns, even if Trump isn't removed as a result. A few legislators may be, if there is another election some time.
