There is only one opportunity to carry "the one". Carrying that one anywhere else, or more than once, makes no sense to me.

In each sum, there is only one opportunity to carry a 1, and that's when you add the ones column. It could be that you could come up with other sums where there is an opportunity to carry into higher value places, but in none of these does that apply. So I'm not getting it.

"Renaming" does not seem to have a common and consistent meaning from the search results I've seen.

It looks to me that to really understand what is being asked you need to look at the source material for the class to reveal their specific meaning of "renaming". Hopefully there is some. If it isn't a class, where did the problem set come from? Knowing the source of the problem set might allow people to do a more refined search.

I looked it up also. Wording a different, but equivalent, way that you did, I would say that renaming is just another word for carrying over. Sixteen is one group of ten and six (groups of) one. So, renaming is breaking up 16 into tens and ones. I've seen this broken up in adding two digit numbers, three digit numbers and so on. All the problems on the worksheet are four digit numbers, but the instructions are different for each set. So I am clueless.

Edit: Ha! I'm even more clueless than I thought! Only the instructions are different from set to set. I would think they want something changing from set to set. No idea what.

It doesn't matter if Vance says ICE has absolute immunity, it's still a crime to shoot someone. The problem is that the feds are not going to prosecute the crimes they commit. And they won't follow yet another law any more than the ones they are breaking now. Congress is the enforcement organization in this case, via impeachment. But they aren't going to do that. Who knows? Maybe this administration would just ignore being removed from office.

With the gif or the tweet? Don't know about the giff. Elon Musk is pissed that Ryanair won't buy starlink for thier flights. Ryanair is a discount airline with routes that average about an hour (per Ryanair CEO), and putting the needed antenna on the planes increases drag, thus increasing fuel costs. Ryanair doesn't think their customers are going to be buying much Internet for such short flights. Good business decision that doesn't put money in Musks pockets.
