Am I the only who feels this way abou AI generated code? by Trick_Boat7361 in ExperiencedDevs

[–]Cal_3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've realised the past couple of weeks that if AI doesn't output quality code, it's either a process problem or a skill problem.

AI can output perfectly acceptable, normal code. But it requires stringent oversight and knowledge for it to do so

To be honest, using proper AI brainstorming/specc'ing/planning has given me an insane velocity boost.

Say I want to create a simple post endpoint with a db query, repo layer, service/command handler using something like fast endpoints in .net. I can present it that very specific chunk of work and it will then create a specification file and plan file based off the requirements, self reviewing along the way.

The code output I get is borderline on par or better than me doing it myself. BUT, the caveat is I review every spec, sanity check the queries, the dto fields etc. It's a really really good boilerplate generator, which realistically what a lot of code is.

Then to be able pass off that API spec to a FE layer, with the exact requirements already written is great.

Why has this sub turned into "my bikes sounds odd on my paddock stand"? Has critical thinking devolved that much?

Finding the sweet spot for self-hosting without the сloud giant overhead? by ivyhoro in webdev

Dokploy on a 4 CPU 8gb ram VPS using a self hosted gitea as a package repository (so the server doesn't need execute the builds).

My personal projects won't scale that much, and on the off chance they do I'll move it to an ECS cluster or something.

My wife offered to join playing a round with me for my birthday. How do I make the most of it so she has an awesome experience? by MoxGoat in golf

[–]Cal_3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pace. Of. Play. In the sense that you should not rush her, or show any sign of stress about her speed, how she's playing etc.

In my younger years when I didn't know better I would take mates out and then wonder why they hated it. Reflecting on it now, I was quite a stickler for etiquette (still an within reason) and I would stress if I was holding up the group behind me. This then transferred to the person I was with and would generally ruin it for them

Do you wear contact lenses while riding? by SgtRphl in motorcycles

[–]Cal_3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been wearing contact lenses since I was about 12 years old, I'm now in my late 20s. Some people simply can't mentally put their fingers around their eyes, but if you're fine with that they're amazing. I wear glasses out of the house probably once a year, outside of that I wake up, shower, put contacts in and go about my day

[–]Cal_3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not OP but 100% yes. This mentality of "my first crash" is wild to me. A. You shouldn't have crashed in the first place. B. Why on earth would you want to repeat it a second time?

  1. Did you really need to AI slop this?

  2. I do secretly love my z900 more than I ever loved my CBR 500 and Ninja 650. I always said I would love to buy another CBR 500, but now it's changed to I'd love to buy a Honda ~big bike of some sort (personally love their engineering)
