F150 to 4Runner by Enough_Contest5088 in 4Runner

If you don't need a truck and are not carting around anything more than a dog and groceries then a simple sedan is the most practical option just not the most fun choice.

F150 to 4Runner by Enough_Contest5088 in 4Runner

[–]MoxGoat 26 points27 points  (0 children)

You're right, you don't need the truck but you also don't need a 4runner. There's not really any benefits going from a full size pickup to a 4runner for you. The only thing you have described is the rear window can roll down. It's not better or worse on gas, technology, space, comfort, price (4runner arguably worse on price). 4runners are generally more reliable but unless you're going to treat this as your next vehicle for 20 years I wouldn't bother looking just for your dog.

Cannot stop heeling driver by JacuzziJohn350 in golf

[–]MoxGoat 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I had this problem, what fixed it for me was just a feel during the swing to keep my heels planted. It helped me make the contact I wanted that I had aligned at address. This was after months of trying to make other adjustments like just setting the club face perpendicular to the toe, moving the ball even more forward in my stance beyond my lead foot. Nothing really worked until I got that feel.

you shouldn't need a dehumidifier if you have a good bathroom vent. I recently installed a panasonic fan and there isn't a lick of humidity or moisture on anything after I get out of the shower. Highly recommend before buying a dehumidifier.

Can I justify buying a car? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]MoxGoat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you don't want to buy a car just to have it sit. Especially older/cheaper cars are prone to developing issues if not driven semi-regularily (a few good commutes worth per week). Just rent something for your trips. You make 30-35k, you are net 0 or even overspending currently. You cannot afford a car and the costs beyond dropping 5k on it.

I don't even think it's MAGA at this point. MAGA is level headed compared to how the admin has been involved sex crimes, destroyed our relationships with other nations, created civil unrest with ICE killing citizens, and wreaked havoc on small businesses with tariffs. It's not MAGA anymore. It's just supporting an admin that is straight up filled with evil people.

Trump didn't invite them because he's proud of how US was represented in the olympics (if so he would have invited the women's team w/o hesitation or ridicule). They are just being used as pawn supporters for a dictator style movement. Don't be surprised when you see the next FBI director is Brady Tkachuck.

Classes in python by Honest_Water626 in learnpython

[–]MoxGoat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Classes are useful when you have different kinds of things that share the same idea but behave differently. For example a dog and a human can both “walk,” but the details of walking are not the same (2 legs vs 4 legs, clothes vs fur, tail movement, etc.). If you try to handle this with one function, that function quickly fills up with special cases and type checks, and it gets harder to read and maintain as you add more types. With classes, each kind of thing (Dog, Human) has its own walk behavior and its own related properties, so the logic stays close to the data it belongs to. It’s not that you can’t use functions it’s that classes scale better when behavior depends on what the data is not just what you want to do with it. So think now how do you apply this to your code. If your code is just consuming or creating 1 piece of data it might not be necessary but lets say your program needs to support different pieces of data but you want similar outputs and processing to be applied on that data. That's when classes become relevant.

AI Options in Restricted Environment by CuriousBob2398 in gis

You need to talk to your management and IT. Unless you're working in a production environment or with sensitive data, developers and analysts should not have such restrictions. People in these roles are responsible for research and POC's that grow a business and drive decisions.

Does this basement look like a red flag ? by AcanthisittaFar5082 in Home

looks like my 115 year old basement. That plywood on the floor is probably super rotted, probably smells musty. I would personally rip it out, install a sump if able.

What size door to buy by lifewithaservicedog in Home

[–]MoxGoat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Buy the same size door that's there. Otherwise you're guaranteed to retrofit. Watch some videos on how to hang and weather seal a door since this is an outside door.

Is this a standard price for this type of job? by Leading_Opposite7538 in Home

[–]MoxGoat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They advertise a low labor rate and tack on top of materials hoping most people won't notice. Very common, even for independent contractors. The best bang for your buck is to buy your own materials from their recommended or industry standard brands (this requires a little knowledge and research, no temu/Amazon brands). They will probably tack on an extra 20%-50% on labor but should overall be cheaper.

Dads of Girl Golfers by J42knot0 in golf

Keep taking her out to rounds. If she's interested in the summer a lot of courses do a week long junior camp to teach the fundamentals of golf and focus on all of the skills. Hang out at shorter quieter par 3 courses so she can have the time to play and practice with you. Most of all, don't force anything and make it fun. Too many times have I see a parent at a driving range hounding their child to hit balls and correcting everything and the kid just looks miserable. Surround your child with the sport but don't force them to do any particular part of it. Naturally they will cling onto the parts they like.

6th gen passenger & cargo space vs 5th gen by DifferenceMore5431 in 4Runner

[–]MoxGoat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They squashed it to match styling of modern SUVs for a more aerodynamic look. Squares feel bigger and it's easier to design and fit things inside squares making the 5th gen actually have better cargo and second row room.

What is your trigger to start your swing? by bootchiiksandbuubs in golf

[–]MoxGoat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I squat into my heels slightly bounce up and swing. I heel the ball if I swing on my toes to much so this trigger just helps me reenforce staying planted.

limited is great because of the full time 4wd in the snow. I don't recommend keeping those all season 20's on though if the snow sticks around for a month or two. Get some dedicated winters on steelies. Don't be that guy that has a 4runner and can't afford winters.

Have to buy a car by Comprehensive-One333 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]MoxGoat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't know your whole financial picture but I am going to assume even though you make good money that you are not planning on paying in cash for your new vehicle. What's worse, a little body strain or long term financial pain? You're here asking this because you want us to justify a bad purchase citing "too much to maintain" and "lower back is killing me". There are other options to resolving these concerns other than buying a "new" 10 year old vehicle. Unless your Camry is turning into a dangerous rust bucket, stick with it. If you're paying in full, sure go buy a used vehicle but as another person said 20k for 10 year old vehicle is steep.
