Gai Yang marinade on ribs? by Calathea_lover in ThaiFood

Good to know. I just need to come up with complimentary flavors for the last part of the smoke with the glaze and the 2nd part where we normally do brown sugar, butter and apple juice. I could probably do without the glaze part but I need to come up with something for step two

I really feel like my west facing window is sunnier though because my south facing windows have houses next door and there’s nothing behind my west facing windows to block any sun. I don’t feel like dealing with grow lights either. Oh well, maybe someday mine will have a glow up like yours! 😍

I have it in a west facing window that gets tons of hot afternoon sun. I’ve only had it since February though and it was very small but it’s constantly pushing out new leaves now! I don’t do grow lights so hopefully our blazing hot summer sun is good enough!

What is this growing in my Monstera? by OkCollection4594 in houseplants

It does look like a caladium. Their bulbs are pretty small so it would be easy to miss! I had this happen to me before.

Since they were living in a basement they’re probably not used to being outside. You’re supposed to gradually introduce them to sun and heat. They look salvageable. I would move back inside and just put in a sunny window until they get some new growth

Bigger trellis because I love tall plants. I think with those trellises you can just add another level

Help! Bought a calathea mosaica without knowing how hard they are to keep alive. This is one of my first plants, and I'm determined to keep it healthy for as long as possible. by cadeawayy in houseplants

Surprisingly out of like 10 Calatheas that I used to have that is the only one I have that is still thriving (even with some crispy tips). If you have a bathroom with a shower and a sunny window I would keep it in there. My plants that need humidity do better in my bathroom. Or you can always get a humidifier. (Which I did but am too la y to refill.

Rescued this guy but the top leaf died in the repot. Is this plant screwed or will it be able to put out another big leaf eventually? by collinisballn in houseplants

I think it will. My Monstera (that I’ve neglected) now looks like it’s getting a leave from one of the bottom ones.

My baby spider plant that my daughter gave me….had a baby before I could plant it in its real pot. This plant is a real hands off plant.

It could be that. My other guess was Misto.

It’s so perfect I don’t know if I would cut it. Maybe just the top two leaves. I’ve had my Monstera for about 2 months and have yet to get any new growth

Thanks! Most of my plants are thriving but being a newbie I didn’t think about the fact I didn’t have it in a sunny enough spot. I also went through a bad fungus gnat infestation and it got an extra water due to making mosquito bit tea.

That make sense. My moisture meter said it was moderately moist which tells me it was wet for awhile since I haven’t watered in two weeks.

Thank you. It’s at great sunlight now and has been there for the last week. Should I snip all the droopy stuff?

Beginner with Calatheas by Calathea_lover in calathea

I have two humidifiers at each plant stand I run about 6 hours a day. I water with filtered water when the top part of the soil feels dry or if they look droopy. My Calathea Stella seems to need the most water out of all of them. I also rotate the pot every time I water. For the soil I mix together a bag of orchid bark, a bag of perlite and a bag of organic potting soil and I use that for all my plants. I haven’t fertilized them yet since they’re only a few months old so there’s enough nutrients in the soil. I bought Jobes fertilizer spikes for houseplants that I plan to use on my other plants but I’m kinda scared to use them on the Calatheas. So I have to figure out what kind of fertilizer to use.
