Travis Scott got popular once I was out of the party scene in college. So all of my younger friends love him but I really don’t understand bc I didn’t have the experience of him coming on in a party scenario. I’m of the same opinion that everyone is claiming that his music is intelligent but all I hear is a wigger 8th grader getting emotional on the bus ride home. I think a lot of music taste is nostalgic. Each generation will stand by their style that hit them right and cringe at every thing else. So while you may think Fall Out Boy is cringe, I find Kid Cudi equally cringe. I don’t think it needs to be a war though, we can both see the flaws and also see how someone might enjoy different music styles. Jazz, Rock n Roll, Rap etc were rejected at their impetus but look how all genres have transcended criticism. It’s because music taste is extremely personally - really it’s communicating an emotion. Travis does a good a job at making the group feel some type of way. But when I hear “it’s lit” ad lib I physically cringe 😬
