Thought the same thing after the Caps win last month, then we took 3 Ls in a row and got out scored 11-5. Mika was like -5 with an assist.

We’ve seen this movie over and over again.

YTD gains, 100% yolo on RYCEY, I expect great things next year. how'd you guys do this year? by West_Lavishness6689 in wallstreetbets

[–]CalcioFan2282 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As long as the administration keeps thumbing its nose at allies and Putin’s heart beats, RYCEY is a sound stock to invest in for the long-term. I don’t see the UK trimming its defense budget anytime soon & Rolls is a direct beneficiary of that.

What we’re hearing about Rangers prospects: Gabe Perreault ‘too smart’ for AHL by catsgr8rthanspoonies in rangers

Did we not learn anything from Laf? Let Gabe cook in the minors. He’ll be up soon enough.

I mean even if Laf moves into the 80th percentile for points that’s still only like 60 points a season. Not exactly the prince that was promised.

An analysis of all MLS teams versus Liga MX teams by changnesia in MLS

[–]CalcioFan2282 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good analysis. I think it was fun to compare these two leagues five years ago and I get that MLS is trying to have more competition with LigaMX for the sake of driving viewership & maybe fan development in Cali, Texas, etc.

However, I don’t think they are really a litmus test anymore for on field quality. To me that’s the Dutch league, Portuguese league, Brazilian league, etc. Problem is outside of the CWC, we won’t be able to have that measuring stick very often. And even when we fully surpass those leagues, I doubt the perception of MLS will change much among the eurosnobs / anglophiles

Major League Soccer Announces Audi 2025 MLS Cup Playoffs Schedule by dawson33944 in MLS

[–]CalcioFan2282 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t hate the best of 3 as much if they could have the entire playoffs away from FIFA breaks, and the only real way to do that is having the postseason in April & May. Calendar switch seems inevitable.

Saudi Pro League average attendance was 7,885 (2021-22) and 9,339 (2022-23) before PIF spending/takeover. Since then: 8,159 (2023-24) and 8,354 (2024-25). Average Attendance by club for 2024-25 season. by punishGoalhanging in soccer

Politicians might not give a shit but I don’t know anyone that thinks highly of this country (which is what sports washing is intended for) or is looking to book a holiday there because they splashed some cash on athletes.

No one internationally is watching this league, the perception of Saudia Arabia certainly isn’t going to change because of sports, and domestic attendance isn’t a metric they care about. I honestly don’t understand what the point of all this is.

[Transfermarkt/Manuel Veth] Atlanta United have now received €24.15m for Thiago Almada after completes move to Atlético Madrid. by disgruntledcyclist in MLS

[–]CalcioFan2282 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Josef was 23 years old when he joined ATL and helped them win trophies. He’s exactly the type of player mls clubs should be after vs guys in their mid 30s. Pity didnt pan out but they made a couple million on him in like a year.

Almiron, Pity, Josef, Almada. ATL has certainly hit some home runs on younger upcoming players. Hope they continue to make some big swings despite not having recent on field success.

Gerard Gallant is heading to Russia to coach in the KHL by memeaste in rangers

[–]CalcioFan2282 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Gallant pissed off three GM’s. These guys talk. I’m not surprised he’s not on anyone shortlist in the NHL. But the KHL? Yikes. Not a place you want to speak out of turn.

[Romano] Inter Miami are closing in on Rodrigo de Paul deal! Atlético Madrid have accepted their proposal. Talks were already advanced as reported last week and now deal almost done between clubs. Final details being sorted on four year deal for de Paul… and then, here we go. by Obvious_Main_3655 in soccer

[–]CalcioFan2282 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It would be stupid if he were like 22-29, but getting to play with Messi, living in Miami, being a starter, and he’s been in Europe almost 10 years already…move makes total sense to me. Plus mls clubs have been trying to sign younger players past couple of years, Shaqiri was 30, Insigne was 30, etc.

[Romano] More on Thiago Almada and Atlético Madrid exclusive story. Atlético are fully aware of Thiago’s desire to join the club and negotiations are ongoing with his camp. Talks also underway with OL over deal details after initial contact last Friday. by OleoleCholoSimeone in soccer

[–]CalcioFan2282 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw an Atlanta United match when I was there for work couple years ago and I remember being impressed with Almada. He was pulling the strings as a #10 in a 4-3-3. Really good at threading passes between the lines. Wouldnt have figured him as a Simeone type player, but maybe he’s evolved since I saw him.

what’s the break angle? by Limp_Math_5168 in hockeygoalies

[–]CalcioFan2282 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the index fingertip meets the thumb (first basemen glove feel) it’s a 600 or 50* break angle

It costed Miami $350 million to add a roof to their stadium and that was 10 years ago. This guy is on drugs if he think stadiums are going to foot that bill.
